The staff at the time were warm (Michael was the best), knew regulars by name, and made every visit feel special. The coffee was excellent and it felt like a true neighborhood gem. Over time, the people who made this place so memorable moved on, and with them went the quality and the warmth. I opted to support other local coffee shops instead. I returned recently to use a reward I had accumulated, excited to see how things had changed since my last visit. When I asked to check my rewards balance before ordering, I was told I could only do so after completing the transaction. Every other coffee shop I frequent allows this beforehand, so I pushed back to clarify. What followed was one of the most unwelcoming interactions I have experienced at any business. The staff member's tone was hostile and dismissive from the moment I asked a simple question, and it did not let up. I felt uncomfortable enough to cancel my order entirely. When I asked for a receipt to confirm my refund, she threw it away in front of me. A colleague had to ask her again on my behalf, and she snapped that she had already discarded it. Another customer standing nearby witnessed this exchange and looked visibly appalled. I reached out to the owner privately before leaving a public review, hoping to have a real conversation. She chose not to follow up with me about my experience. Instead, she wrote back to say she had already spoken with her staff and that a separate customer had contacted her to say I was the problem, and that her team had handled everything with grace. She closed by suggesting I had not met a basic standard of respect. I want to be clear: the customer she referenced appeared to be acquainted with the barista. I will leave readers to draw their own conclusions about whose account was actively sought out. I also want to note that I am not alone in this experience. Other reviewers here have flagged the same pattern of cold, unwelcoming service at this location. That tells me this is not an off day. It is worth reading those reviews before you visit. The refund for items that were never made has still not been processed, four days later, which caused me to have to reach out to an owner again. I have now been refunded. I share all of this because I think people deserve to know what to expect, both at the counter and if something goes wrong. This is not the place I once loved, and the ownership's response confirmed that.

When I mentioned that I had intended to have it here, she shot me daggers and then poured it directly into a ceramic cup - not the $8 cortado I had paid for. She chats with regulars while others wait endlessly in line. Zero hustle. There's a snail drawn on a post-it behind the counter - is it her spirit animal? Without her "service", I'd double my rating.

A very welcoming barista crafted a pair of 16oz mochas with really nice coffee art. Note that cash payment is not accepted. Points can be accrued via Toast by signing up with your phone number. Nice clean cafe with plentiful natural light, healthy plants, and mirrors. There's merch and coffee roasts also available for purchase. I can't speak to pastries and other menu items since we were there towards the end of the business day. Majority of the folks seated along the counter were taking advantage of natural light while working on their respective laptops. Counter seating, as well as, table seating are available onsite. Pleasant, brief visit to their Kirkland indie cafe location. Appreciated the tasty mochas.

While we were there we asked if they would be willing to display an "Everyone is Welcome" decal in their window--a small symbol of inclusivity for the neighborhood. The response we received was direct and disheartening. The barista behind the counter stated, "Our company doesn't support that." It appears we aren't the only ones who found this stance concerning. For those who prioritize supporting businesses that value diversity and open doors, you may want to take your business elsewhere. We have regular happy hours, member events, and there are plenty of opportunities to get to know your co-working neighbor. Alternatively, if you want to huddle behind a desk with your headphones in, you won't be harassed. 4) Rent's high and getting higher! A co-working space is the best way to utilize your business income to marketing and outreach rather than wasting it on hyper-inflated rents and painful long-term contracts. 5) A full kitchen means you don't have to eat out - unless you want to. Note - it's stocked for Happy Hour and also houses private conference rooms and a place to film video. I'm incredibly grateful for Marnee's creativity and initiative in getting Works Progress off the ground and running and keeping it going. I never expected my rent costs to *drop* over the years, but they have! If you are sick of sitting at home staring at the walls come in for a free day trial and meet the gang. They're happy to have visitors!

I compared this location to the Work and Play Lounge in the junction, and neither were right for me right now, but I could see them working for a lot of people. I think they will both work well for somebody that does mostly heads down work, I would always feel like I was disturbing people since my role is more client facing and on a lot of calls consistently. If you're comparing this place to the Work and Play Lounge, this one has monitors you can plug into, two or three rooms for taking calls or a private space, and seems to have some kind of community focus to start meeting people that live near you. Not sure if this changes by season, but there's not great lighting here, whereas work and play has a view and more natural light. unfortunately neither of the co-working spaces in the area where I live we're going to work for me and I ended up taking the water taxi over the WeWork downtown to avoid a Bellevue or Ballard commute in a car. Probably would've went with this business due to its location if they had telephone booths or better call taking options like WeWork does. Great to support local company if this space works for you though.
