From the minute I walked in, I knew this was the right place for my child. The atmosphere was welcoming, bright, creative and not cluttered. The staff are very caring and attentive. I admire the Reggio-Emilia approach as it gave my child the leg up into getting into a Gifted and Talented Program. I've never been to a school with a dedicated "Artist" on staff. If you're seeking a place where your kids are safe, well-looked after and and environment where they can be themselves and create and grow, this the place. This place is nothing short of amazing. My son goes to summer camp here and he loves it. The activities, the trips, the reasonableness of the fees charged, which include free before and aftercare, are just a few reasons why you might choose this camp for your child. There is a very good mix of educational activities along with some good old-fashioned fun, and lots of time for the kids to jump and play and spend time outdoors. But the real difference is the people. Well trained, courteous, and most importantly really love and know how to handle children. They bring out the best in kids. read more

We had our son at a different school in Wood-Ridge that seemed great when we toured, but turned out to be a wolf in sheep's clothing. We were so lucky to find The Children's Studio. My son has been there since he was 6 months old. He is now 2.5. Each new school year he is in a different nurturing environment with engaging teachers and intelligent peers that challenge him with unique art, science and math projects. When I pick him up from school, he tells me how much fun he has had and all the different things he has done throughout the day. He participates in elective activities of yoga and piano, and everyone participates in cooking class on Wednesdays and a special concert on Fridays. I only wish they decided to continue on with grades 1-6, as he benefits so much from the teaching methodology of this school. I cant say enough positive things about this school from its teaching methods, to the appearance of the school, but mostly about how happy my 3 kids were when they told me about their days. I had twins in the school since they were almost 4 and my son since he was almost 2. I originally had them in a school in Nutley by Shoprite that were lacking in many areas to say the least. I went to the children studio to take a tour and fell in love it as I drove into the parking lot. My kids loved to be creative and this school definitely taps into their creativity from painting to art class. I cant say enough about Ms. Angie. She is amazing in what she does and how she understand children and their minds. She knew my son always needed to be kept busy and like to help her in everything she did. He was always by her side helping in one way or another. The director also understands children and never stops trying to do more for the school and the kids. Every kids gets hurt at one point or another while having fun. I think what counts is how they handle the child that is hurt and the situation that caused it. I felt leaving my 3 kids in their care and now just my son as his sisters are now in 1st grade. I love love the school. I only have two regrets not taking them there sooner and wishing they accept CC payments :) read more

Hate to write a detailed review as it means reliving the experience. My son was not safe in Ms. Maria's class. He had injuries from other children on several occasions. One reason was due to the fact they were trying to help a problematic child reform or improve in the class my son was in. I was only told this after I paid and registered. So convenient. The final straw was when I picked my son up at the end of the day and I couldn't stop looking at his face. It was bruised, scratched and bright red on one side, including the eyelid. Ms. Maria said it was because I dress him so warm. I give him a hoody and a jacket in winter, yes, but I assume he removes them during class and puts them back on before we go out in the cold. Afterall, I had to be extra careful because he caught a nasty virus there where his fever was 106 for 2 days and 104.5 the other 2. (The older children go upstairs in the nursery area where I've seen diapers being changed and just not a very clean environment). So, when I took a closer look I said did you see this? She said "Oh my gosh I didn't know it was that bad." Of course, I asked when it happened and she said at around 10:30 or 11am when he was playing outside. So, my son has been like this until now, which is after 2:30. Wow. I had them create an injury report which had not been done and the director had come down. She was very upset I was taking my son to the our doctor to ensure he was fine. She kept saying, "Wow, this is a first." and things of that nature. I said, very upset, "Excuse me, is this discussion about why my child was not treated, why I wasn't called and why nobody was aware of his injury or my choices as a parent?!" I asked my son what happened and he said, "I told so and so not to push me when he tags me because I almost fell the first time but I saved myself, but he did it again really hard the second time and I fell on my face." My son knows to put his arm out to break a fall but I knew it was a completely unexpected fall for him because he absorbed the entire impact on his face which had abrasions, bruises and very red on one side. So, he slid on his face upon falling and bruised it and it was so painful that he would barely let me clean it. I asked my son what Ms. Maria said, and he replied. "She told me, '(child's name) is a good kid.'" I took him to the doc who did a evaluation for a concussion upon seeing him, without me saying a word. I would think any parent would rule out that as his head had a bruise on it, right above his brow. Shame on the school as when I called to get my funds back, as he had barely attended between him being sick and me pulling him out, they refused. The other incidents that bothered me were that they were allowed to play outside on a day when it was below 32 and another time, they were lining up outside to into the front door from the back class door and there was only one aide with all the children who was not able to watch the kids up front. It is on a street with car traffic so I was concerned. When I brought it up, I was told that usually there are 2 adults supervising, this was an off day. There. I relived it but I hope I helped others in the process. read more

My daughter attended the Studio for years and my son is still here. During my initial tour long ago, it gave me so much JOY to walk through the rooms and watch children of all ages using their hands at tables and open spaces. I saw it as a mythical children's factory. Piles of doorknobs, branches, stones, cardboard forms, corks, beads, keys, buttons ( you name it) being whipped up into something new and beautiful. My daughter knows all about the Taj Majal because her class built a few versions of it back in PreK. The Studio has exposed her to many worldly images and concepts over the years. Since she graduated to our district grammar school, we plow through a nightly sea of unimaginative worksheets and it really saddens me. There hasn't been a single art project that even compares to the lovely things she worked on at the Studio with Miss Judy and Miss Angie. The staff here has been and continues to be extremely SMART, caring, diligent and proactive. While I certainly don't wish to make less of any child's injury or parent's concern, I do wish to say that my experiences here have been nothing but marvelous. Usually you sift through the webpages of daycare websites, reading all the silly jargon and promises with a skeptical eye. In my opinion, this school actually delivers to the parents much of what it promises. I know my children are the better for attending and I try my best to continue with some of the Studio's philosophies in our daily lives. read more

I enrolled my daughter when she was 2 years old and from the first day that I saw Ms. Maria put her arm around my daughter (who had never been cared for by anyone other than family until that day), I knew I had made a great choice. And then Ms. Sandra carried my "baby" as if she were her own and then melted my heart. She was with Ms. Sandra and Ms. Alex and immediately started learning so much in all areas. I NEVER worried that she wasn't being taken care of properly and that she wasn't safe. She is now with Ms. Priscilla and Ms. Danielle and the growth I've seen in her is astronomical. Her personality has come out more, her vocabulary is incredible (I've had to google a few words she's come home saying), her social skills and awareness of safety issues is amazing and she's just learning so much about the world in so many areas. Sadly, we've moved and she will go to a new school in September and I'm concerned that it won't be as good as the Children's Studio. I would highly recommend The Children's Studio to anyone looking for a great facility. read more
