Super Adorable Gift Shop right in the Heart of Lafayette Village. Two life size goat statues with red ribbons stand on the outside of the shop. Love their "Goat themed" items such as chocolates, clothing, kitchen supplies and much more.... The Beekman Bath and Body "Goat Milk" products are available too! The Shoppe is quite extensive with two floors. We walked up to the second floor. I can't even count the number of cute gift rooms we walk through. It seemed endless. LOL... You can definitely pick up a cute gift for most anyone. The woman behind the counter were very nice. The shop is located at 103 Rt.15 in Lafayette, NJ. This adorable gift shop in a historic building in the tiny historic town of Lafayette NJ is a fun stop if you're passing through. We have family in the area so it's our go-to spot for buying them gifts when we visit. It was great to see that they were busy when we were there in December! Beyond chocolate they sell other local food items: crackers, jams, nuts, etc. And they happily wrap this up if it's a gift. They also sell women's apparel: sweaters, scarves, hats, jewels, handbags. I don't know about you but I loooooove getting little girly gifts that are purely for enjoyment. I'm a huge fan of homemade chocolates, soaps, fun purses, perfumes and little trinkets. If you are also into this then you will love "The Chocolate Goat". My niece and nephew stocked up on their chocolates. I was upstairs obsessing over perfumes and lunch bags. Yes, everyone is working from home but the bag is too cute. I love smells. It's one of my pleasures in life. I picked up a delicious perfume, a new bat print wallet, a coffee print lunch bag and decided on the chocolate covered marshmallows. At the register the ladies wanted to hear about my Eddie Munster hangs up the street. They wanted to see my pic. I noticed Butch Patrick got pulled into the Chocolate Goat as well. Their pic together was super cute @chogoat. It took me a couple days before I tried my marshmallows and damnnn....perfection. Well worth the dough. Thank you so much for this lovely treat. Very cute gift store but a little on the higher price. The childcare's look beautiful but are expensive. My daughter found a hat in their upstairs room (Life Is Good) and she bought it for herself. There is also a sale area upstairs so be sure to check it out. I did find a bracket but it was too big for my wrist sadly. They have all kinds of things- t-shirt's, hats, chocolates , socks and more. The town of Lafayette is cute with great antiques so it is a nice place to browse. read more

The Chocolate Goat Gift Shoppe is set in riral Lafayette. As the title implies, it is both a specialty gift shop, as well as, a chocolate shop. They sell high end Neuhaus Belgian Chocolate, 1/2 pound $39.00 . but mainly jewlery, gift wrappings, women's apparel like sweaters. hats, purses, perfumes and soaps. They carry Beckman lotion 12 oz $21.95 and Beckman soap bars, 9 oz $15.00. They also carry Alex & Ani and Vera Bradley products. Yes these are high end products but I like to bring something special to my daughter in Ohio when I visit. The store has two floors with the upper floor being mostly women's clothing and accessories. The store is managed by Jennifer and Stephanie Koza. The last name Koza translates to goat. I will begin this review by saying that the entire reason we went to this store was because it was called the chocolate goat. We were driving past it on the way to our destination and made sure to stop by on the way back. Now, I was expecting a chocolate goat ... if you have ever been to Maine and have seen Lenny the chocolate moose, that's what I was expecting. Although there is no large chocolate goat there is an incredibly beautiful shop curated with amazing pieces ! We went just as they were switching some of their Vera Bradley pieces and the lady was very informative telling us what to buy based on what sells fastest. The downstairs has a small candy counter and jewelry area next to it then the following room is a lot of handbags and other accessories. When you go up the stairs there is a huge room on the left with bath products and candles and next to that a small display about how the chocolate goat got its name. The rooms behind that consist of a children's oriented room, a casual clothing and accessories room (think life is good, and other "beach" brands). Then the last few rooms were China and other home furnishings. There is a great flow through the entire store and the rooms are all fully stocked. Each room has its own personality which matches the products being sold. This store is a bit of a hike for me (2 hours) but I would love to go back when I have more time to look at more of their unique products and favorite staples like Alex and Ani. I found out about a soap brand, locally created, that I can't wait to try. read more

My dad and I were in the area and stopped at this gift shop. We made a few purchases including some truffles, chocolate pretzels, and chocolate Easter bunnies. The Easter chocolates were on sale for 50% off, being that Easter has passed. The truffles were Neuhaus Brussels and were priced between $1.50- $3 a piece. Some were tasty and some were not that special to be so expensive. There were other things for purchase including Christmas ornaments (which I thought would be discounted being that it's nowhere near Christmas, but to my surprise I was told that they are $54 each), scarves, handbags, totes, soaps, etc. Overall, this place is pricy. You can definitely get a bar of soap for much cheaper than $15. Not sure who comes here to buy handbags and things like that because they are also overpriced. I wouldn't recommend buying anything other than a snack for the road here. read more

This store is my happy place. The moment you walk in you are greeted with the smell of all the types of chocolate they sell. As you walk further into the store there is so much to look at and admire. It's a beautiful store and a great place to shop for a gift or for treating yourself. They even offer to gift wrap free of charge in a beautiful bag with the shop name in gold foil, with colorful tissue paper and a bow. The staff is friendly and sweet. Normally I love this unique gift shop. But today 2 friends and myself drove 45 minutes specifically to shop here. After browsing for a few minutes, one of my friends had to use the ladies room. When she asked the rude woman at the register to use the restroom, she was told it was not for public use and to get in the car and drive to Quick Chek (5 minutes up the road). With that, all 3 of us left without purchasing a thing (and we were prepared to spend). We wanted to shop small business today but the big businesses have public bathrooms so that is where we went! read more

Awesome assortment of interesting chocolates as well as fabulous imported hand crafted Belgium truffles and ganaches. This would be a great place to buy gifts as their chocolate are very nicely wrapped and pre-wrapped assorted platters and boxes are readily available. The kicker is that you walk in expecting to only find only chocolate but the shop expands into a nice boutique with jewelry, Vera Bradley items, assorted jams and maple syrup. There was also more upstairs but I didn't venture up this time around. Definitely a fun stop if you are in the area. Also good to note is that the shop is clean and well laid out so that there is plenty of room to walk around and browse. read more

Beautiful merchandise but very, very pricey. I guess these prices are for the tourists on the weekend. That's not fair either but so be it.

We stopped by for a taste of the chocolate and were pleasantly surprised to find a really nice gift shop as well... The staff are really right there the whole time which some have referred to as a "looking over your shoulder" feeling, but I think they were just not busy and asked every few minutes if they could help us find anything. We purchased a couple of their famous solid chocolate goats as gifts and a few of the special Belgium chocolates and they were melt-in-your-mouth delicious! They single you out if you are not white!!! I told one of the ladies in the front and she did apology for what had happen which was ok but I will not be returning to this store , items are over price and nothing is handmade you can buy most of the products they sell online cheaper and avoidance of bad customer service . We went here today to buy chocolate covered strawberries. They were so nicely decorated placed in a box with a nice red bow. I had preordered them they were done when promised. The strawberries were the best we have ever had. I have shopped here numerous times this is my first review. I just had to write about the deliciousness of the chocolate covered strawberries. It may be a great store, but the owners need to be aware (unless they put her up to it) of the young woman who works there and her rude behavior of plopping down in the Vera Bradley room with her arms crossed making sure you don't walk out with anything. This has happened a couple of times while in the store. I don't know what made you think that I or my friend would steal from your store. Because of that treatment I would never step foot in it again even if I wanted to purchase something. As a prospective client, we should not have to be followed or stared at while browsing. Put up more cameras if you are afraid of theft, or better yet, just close your doors. read more

Great store! went in for the first time this week, and I was totally pleasantly surprised. Given that there is a very tacky store in Pike County PA that bills itself as modeled after the Chocolate Goat, I did not have high hopes for the store in NJ, but I was totally wrong. My wife an I liked shopping at the Goat until last Sunday. Fun selection of gifts. However, after picking out some Nora Fleming and Life is Good stuff to buy, my wife who has disabilities had to use the bathroom. Instead of allowing her to use the " non public "restroom it was suggested that we travel 4 or 5 miles to a Dunkin Donuts. On our way back to the Cholate Goat , I thought why. This place actually has a few beautiful things..priced to match. The reason for the 2 stars? The customer service. I took my mother and sister there with my nephew who is 4..and the woman worker? Owner? Followed us around like we were going to steal something. It was so blatant that I almost put back the things I was purchasing . I then bought 30 dollars worth of the neuhaus chocolates that they have in the case (which btw the woman warned me were 2 dollars EACH) ( I felt like saying..don't worry I can afford it) ..I don't mind paying for quality. These chocolates tasted like they have been in that case for a LONG time. Not fresh. Not worth it. Each one of us spent between 50 and 100 dolllars...The woman following us? She was no where to be found while we were paying..not even a "thank you ..have a nice day". I don't think I will be back. Everything they sell can be found somewhere else..at a lower price. So..if your looking for a place to wander..and shop in peace...don't go here. read more

The Chocolate Goat has a lovely selection of chocolates and gifts. They are a variety of chocolates, some imported from Belgium, which are delicious! It is rare if I leave this store without buying something. The staff welcome you and try to help you out with whatever you need. If they do not have something, they offer to take your information and will order it for you. My favorite lines there are Alex and Ani, Root candles and Greenwich Bay soaps and lotions. The store is deceivingly large, with two floors. They also recently started a loyalty program, which I also recommend if you are a frequent flyer! We passed this shop on the way to Wallenpaupack and didn't have time to stop, so we decided we'd go in on the trip home and were excited to do so, because the store looked interesting. I had googled the website in the interim, saw some cool things, including a recycled purse and was ready to spend! Once we got there, we were met with a less than gracious clerk who smugly told my 8 year old the bathrooms are not for customers, and then proceeded to follow us around the store room to room pretending to fold tee shirts and such, while watching us over her shoulder, like we were thieves (and stupid, too boot).
