My wife is obsessed with pistachio everything and when she found out that The Chocolate Pantry had the viral Dubai pistachio chocolate bar, she HAD to have it. We live over an hour away so I ordered it online, it's pricey, but WORTH it. She said it was the best thing she's ever tasted in her whole life. I also ordered the stuffed caramel chocolates and the stuffed biscoff cookie butter chocolates. The caramel is perfect, the chocolate is smooth and delicious. I haven't tried the cookie butter ones yet, but they'll be soon! Chocolate, yes! So many varieties to pick from - flavors, textures, styles, fanciness... All the things in one cute little location. I love chocolate - especially dark - and I had no dirth of options here. The biggest issue was not buying everything and spending all my budget for the day . All the items I did end up purchasing were phenomenal. Staff was also very helpful in working with me to narrow down my choices, which I appreciated. Will absolutely be coming back. read more

A nice little chocolate shop that sells an assortment of unique and fun chocolate treats. While the items are not made at this store and are packaged in the back, it is a good place to grab a gourmet gift that you can take home. I do have to admit that the prices are pretty high for certain items. An example would be 2 packages of the 2 count chocolate covered brownie for $18. Size was pretty tiny also. But I assume that the ingredients used are high quality. Overall a nice spot that provides some different options from the super tourist spots right in the main area within salem. read more

If I could give this shop 10 stars, I would! We popped in here as a stop on the Salem Food Tour and had an incredible tasting and got some background info on the shop. Amy was so lovely and kind and could not have made our experience any better. It was so good in fact, that after our tour was over we came right back and spent a half hour with her buying up some of the best chocolate we have ever had. Hubs is a complete chocoholic and honestly, it's generally not my favorite. But the offerings at the Chocolate Pantry were of such high quality that they made me love it. I honestly don't understand some of the other reviews, our experience could not possibly have been any better. This was the perfect end to our visit to Salem. read more

You know a town is great when they have two chocolate shops. I was so busy looking at all the varieties of chocolates that I forgot to take pictures. This shop specializes in imported gourmet chocolate from all over the world. They had German and middle eastern treats as well as gift boxes, truffles, decorated cookies and chocolate covered "everything." Owner was very welcoming and friendly. The Chocolate Pantry is my go to for decadent, unique, fantastic chocolate that can't be found elsewhere in Salem or neighboring cities. The owner, Amy, is always willing to make a suggestion when I'm unsure of what new chocolate I want to try. Also, since we are locals, and frequent the pantry often, Amy remembers that my son has a tree nut allergy and since she knows her products so well, she steers us in the right direction for him. The store is set up so lovely that I feel like I'm always surprised my a new display at every turn. The two women working tonight had an open bottle of wine behind the counter and were being rude and obnoxious to customers. Chocolates were okay but the service was horrible and we almost decided to just walk out without purchasing. Definitely not the best place in town. In response to the still obnoxious and unprofessionally/poorly written reply; we did use the basket and delivered our $30 purchase (because yes, despite your attitude we still spent money in your store) to the counter in said basket (even though you rudely forced the basket upon me because you said I was "melting the chocolates" [while walking towards the register already with my intended purchase] by holding the one bag by the plastic top). Even after the purchase, you stopped my wife and I before we could leave to continue to pick an argument, because apparently us spending money wasn't good enough to just let things go. Your colleague even joked about drinking the wine and being drunk at that point, so believing that it wasn't wine would be a tough sell now. PS. Maybe don't complain about the long days of tourist season. I'm quite confident that it's a lucrative season for all businesses in town and helps to sustain the whole year. The chocolates are OK, not great, but OK. But the attitude... that's another story. The only reason I did not walked out(my grown up son did due to her attitude) is because I wanted a chocolate. I know hot to make chocolate from scratch, and I have eaten enough chocolate in my life to know what I like and what I do not. I did not needed a lesson from her, specially when she does NOT make the chocolate herself. And by the way, her recommendation was WAY OFF from what I asked. The product was average and ok, but she needs to understand that just because she likes it, it does not mean it's the perfect chocolate. Salem is so lucky to have The Chocolate Pantry! There are certainly other options here in town, but why bother? This shop has fantastic products, all handmade with the finest of ingredients with "no junk in them" (as the chocolatier proudly says!) These aren't chocolates just plopped down in a heap when made. They are artfully designed and almost as beautiful to look at as they are to eat. The wide variety of options of styles and types make it an adventure out of selection, but the chocolatier is fantastically helpful guiding you through the process. While not set in the middle of downtown, this place is well worth the short walk along the waterfront to get to. You deserve what she has to sell! read more

I've been fortunate enough to live across the street from a few chocolate shops in my life, and can happily report the chocolate here is very, very good. But the gift boxes feature individually wrapped chocolates that are incredibly frustrating to try to unwrap. Each chocolate is sealed by gummed paper over sealed plastic, which defy any but the nimblest fingers. It takes five times as long to unwrap one than it takes to eat it, so forget about binging. read more

I popped in The Chocolate Pantry after passing a grand opening sign in October 2021. The owner was welcoming and not pushy trying to make a sale. She seemed excited and knowledgeable about the chocolates imported from Europe. I enjoyed the milk chocolate with nuts and the coconut chocolate.
