Staying at Wyndham the store came highly recommended. Extremely disappointed with service which; has been the normal almost everywhere after Covid. We came as a group during a visit to Pagosa, and just had to come to Choke Cherry Tree upon recommendation from family for their chocolates and sweets! We left with: Baby Buffalo Chips, Mountain Lion Mounds, Homemade Caramel with Nuts, Barrel Aged Balsamic Vinegar, Nectar of the Gods, and Wild Choke Cherry Syrup. This review is mostly for our wonderful service and experience that we received from Jenelle! She was so kind, passionate about the products, funny, and provided such an amazing service to our party of 6! Social distance and masks were worn, and everyone in the store was very respectful. She greeted and served everyone who came in with a smile (behind the mask), and our group was thoroughly grateful for the amazing customer service. There was an amazing selection of sweets, my personal favorite thing that I got to try and take home was the Balsamic Vinegar! It was FANTASTIC!! We have been coming to Pagosa Springs for nigh on a decade, and this place is always a "must stop." During our week here, we have already visited twice. It is hell on my waistline but heaven for my mental health. The chocolate is truly worth going crazy over. Our family favorites are the Moose Poop and Deer Droppings. We also picked up a soup mix to blend some vitamins in with everything else. I am trying to figure out how to ship the chocolate to Texas and everyone I know. Just go already. read more

We stopped in here to sample some sweets after a hike up Treasure Falls, the homemade fudge was fantastic. The shoppe is fun and filled with cute knickknack finds like purses, trendy scarfs, hats and clothing along with Jewelry and other girly items. We love this store. It is usually friendly and fun to shop in. The array of products is wonderful and they have many unique items. The caramels and various "poops" are so delicious i have to limit what i buy. The many sauces and salsas are to die for. That is why i was surprised when I came in with my son and his wife early Thursday afternoon on August 6th. No one greeted us for several minutes and when a lady finally did greet us, we were not offered a caramel, which I think is an extra touch of your store that puts it a cut above other stores. Pickings were slim, there was no salsa (delivery had been pushed back, no fault of store). We asked about Nectar of the Gods sauce as we did not see any and were told it was "in the back". My son said this was their last day here and he would like to buy a lot and could she get it from the back. Reply was "it will be ready when it is on the website and you can order online." She was very abrupt and unhelpful. He came into the store to make a good sized purchase while in town and not have shipping charges and she did not seem to want to help. She said nothing to us about offering samples of any of the goods (which usually the clerk does even if we do not ask for any samples). My daughter in law got a bag of caramels and I finally asked as we were checking out if the store was no longer offering samples of the caramels. The clerk's reply was "yes" but made no move to give us one. I said "well, I would like to try the nut one" and my daughter in law said she would like that too to see if she liked that (she had gotten the plain caramels- delicious!). She finally got the bags of samples out and gave us one. Hoping the clerk was just having a bad day as this is a GREAT STORE! read more

A good friend of ours gave us a jar of Grandma's Wild Choke Cherry Jelly from this place. We opened it and found the top of the jelly covered with mold. Yes, the jar lid did "pop" when we opened it, so it seems not to have been previously opened. We have no idea what actually does go on in Grandma's kitchen, but - unless you want to actually choke on your food - I'd recommend that you steer well clear of anything "she" produces. read more
