Your Raw Chopped Salad was one of the best in Durango for a fresh, lettuce-addressed mixture of squash, broccoli, etc. I don't get to town much but the last two times I've bought it (as recently as friday of last week) has little to no lettuce. It's soggy, not fresh and frankly tastes like a salad which is two days old - not good. I will not buy again. Whomever has taken over the Deli needs to understand that cabbage soaked in vegetables juices, days old, is not the same as a fresh salad. read more

Charles and the crew over at Natures Oasis were incredible! We hosted our wedding in Durango and were in need of making a custom charcuterie board for cocktail hour. We came down to the shop a month before to have it all scheduled and discussed options, pricing and the whole shibang. Our wedding was on a Saturday mid-day and they already had a catering event on the same day. They WERE STILL ABLE to perfectly craft and package up everything we discussed for us, and let me tell you it was an absolute hit at the wedding. The food was awesome, the interactions were amazing, and I didn't even mention the note that Charles wrote my wife and I the morning of the wedding. Even after we had discussed pricing a month before, the day of the wedding they billed us a lower dollar amount and said 'I hope that this helps for the honeymoon, congratulations'!! Nature's Oasis is a lovely little store, but the prices have gotten extremely high. I used to enjoy shopping there on a semi regular basis to buy their bread. The other food is a higher price than other grocery stores in town, but because I enjoyed the bakery, I would grab a few things anyway just for convenience. Now that bread is $9-12/loaf... That was my breaking point. I'm afraid I'll no longer be shopping at this store. read more

After 12 years of being a customer, I am done. Customer service has declined incredibly -- particularly at the deli. Today I waited 10-15 minutes for someone to acknowledge me. Instead the employees sauntered by and chatted with each other, and then proceeded to help other customers. And for years now, the checkers haven't bothered to say thank you when you make purchases -- instead they behave like you're doing them a favor. For their premium prices, I think basic customer service skills would be nice. read more

Went shopping for soap and return a loaf of Ezekiel bread because it was bad, color and smell. 9:30 Am May 20 , 2022. Mattie was the checker.Behind her was a man unknown to me .He grabbed the bread, opened it up and fingered each slice .This man, now identified as Jeff Watson ran off with the bread and never returned. I've had nothing but a positive experience at Nature's Oasis. The food products are high quality, from the bakery, to the deli, and Jack's. I like the bulk food option and the alternatives to dairy and meat. I've been able to find local foods and items in the baby isle that are non-toxic (e.g., a cup that a baby can hold and learn to drink from, a spoon that is easy to grip and eat from for a baby, and a cute koala for teething). I appreciate the gloves and cart spray available for shoppers. I appreciate that they are following State guidelines for COVID response for the safety of their customers and to ensure that the store stays open for its customers. Overpriced, small produce selection, unfriendly service staff. I heard their cinnamon rolls are good, but can't swallow the prices to actually buy some to try. When I come back home to Durango I definitely miss Whole Foods but thanks to Nature's Oasis I can get some yummy, organic, fresh food whenever I need it! Right away this place reminds me of Whole Foods but it's more homey and local since it's in a small town. I really like the deli they have with the fresh salads, sandwiches and smoothies. I like to come with my mom and get the 3 salad plate for around $8: they give you a rather large serving of three salads of your choice, and you can take it home or eat it right there in a little seating area they have in the front of the store. The produce is great and they have a lot of legit items; I could spend hours just perusing the aisles! read more

This is usually the only store we ever shop at when we come to town since it is the only place to get really great organic items. Almost every item in the store is organic. All of the produce is organic, which is great unless they don't have something specific you are looking for. The selection is limited but at least you know you are getting the best quality ingredients. There are other various prepared and boxed items in the store that are organic as well. They also have a great bulk section in this store. The health and beauty section is very large and full of cruelty free items for me and my husband. There is also a very large selection of vitamins and other health related items. The prices are fair, though those who think its cheaper than Whole Foods are wrong. I find that some of the items here are more expensive than my own local Whole Foods. They even have organic pet food, which was awesome since I forgot to pick up some for my cat before we left town. If you are looking to invest in your health and care about quality ingredients, this is the store to shop at in Durango. read more

Worst customer service ever, from a manager nonetheless. This is a business that I've been frequenting for over 20 years, weekly shopping, taking colleagues from out of town to their deli lunch and spending hundreds of dollars using them for catering for the company. As a regular customer I was so insulted this past weekend by the manager on duty, Andrew, who, when I expressed frustration with his lack of customer service skills and asked to speak to his manager proceeded to refuse to complete my transaction because I attempted to hold him accountable. His words, "I'm not going to help you because you're rude and you think you're entitled to me doing this transaction". I said nothing but thought to myself, Um yes Andrew, that's how this works, I'm the customer and you work here and I'm counting on you to complete the transaction... I was was shocked a his arrogance! Its incredible how a really bad experience can cost a business both money and credibility, I'm done giving them my money and this manager is detrimental to their credibility and a very bad role model to the other employees who looked on curiously at their managers display of arrogance. Andrew, word to the wise, probably shouldn't underestimate people (customers) and best not to assume no one will ever ask you to be accountable and that people will take your insults and go away quietly. It's a real shame that this locally owned family business has to be so negatively impacted by one bad managers behavior. Note, in all fairness I had an opportunity to talk with the GM the following day who listened, validated that I was a regular customer by saying he recognized me and apologized for my negative experience. He made things right by competing the legit transaction that had been denied the day before and encouraged me to continue doing business there. Sadly, all of his niceties don't outweigh the bad taste left from one really bad experience. Customers beware, this store may offer a pleasant shopping and deli experience but brace yourself for the check out and may the force be with you if you have to interact with the manager called out in this review. read more

Love this place!! Lots of gluten free options. Reminds me a lot of Whole Foods but it is a locally owned grocery store. Prices are similar to what you would find at Whole Foods. With two teens I won't be buying all my groceries here but it's worth coming to get some of the speciality items I can't find elsewhere. I don't mind the crowded parking lot too much. The soups in the deli are tasty and fairly priced @$6 for about 2c. But half the time they run out of the house toast or don't bother to put it out. Terrible management that doesn't value a loyal customer base. As long as you have no issues and turn a blind eye to rudeness from their apathetic employees, it will be the spot to get what you need as a foodie. High quality products are found here. We really wanted to give it 5 stars but for some reason, the cashier I had decided my hat looked funny or maybe I looked like a bum, or maybe I just looked funny and deserved some kind of punishment for that. I hadn't spoken a single word while I shopped and didn't glare at anyone and wasn't originally in a hurry. But after watching a similar scene as seen in Zootopia as that of the sloths at the DMV when I was next in line. I simply needed to get back to the car where my family was patiently waiting. So I transferred all my 20 items to the next available cashier who had processed about 8 customers and the other line processed about 5. The instant I did that, she had a rebirth and moved faster than a rabbit. Then my new cashier dropped down to half pace. Excuse me. What did I do wrong? Unacceptable and unprofessional in every way. This store has horrible management, Josh the shift manager and Jason. There's so many other "natural grocers" in durango that dont overcharge and create issues for clients. I've been a loyal shopper for nearly a decade here. Ive never had any issues before and and ive never had to make a return either. But after being disrespected by Josh the shift manager and was called trash because they were selling expired products and I brought my items back with receipt to prove so. I will never step foot on this property again and neither will my friends or family after that horrific experience. read more

This is a nice store with the best GF tuna salad. It would be great if there were more dairy free breakfast options. The deli is nice for lunch and they have a good selection of nicer foods. It is definitely a gourmet and natural food store so not where we do our primary shopping. I found myself here while in town, visiting and in need of some quick and easy lunch options. Boy, do they deliver! I waltzed straight back to the deli section, as I figured that's where I'd find what I was looking for. Early in the morning, I found they were preparing these delicious salads with goat cheese, cranberries, walnuts, and turkey. Cha-Ching, sold. Also snatched up a chicken, goat cheese, and apple sandwich with sprouts. I'd say I was likely in a goat cheese kind of mood, and didn't realize that I perhaps overdid it with the goat cheese options, but whatever. We also stocked up on pesto pasta salad, the broccoli fig salad, and the chicken salad for another day's lunch. It was all good. My hubs and I shared these for lunch instead of eating out, and it gave us just what we wanted: lighter, non-greasy fare that didn't make us feel stuffed for hours on end. And tasty too! The grocery store reminds me of a Whole Foods, and by that I mean you will pay more for everything here. It's not cheap, but I think for the prepared foods it's definitely worth it (and much better than those regular grocery chains that we're all familiar with). read more

Being able to purchase healthy, organic and delicious food is very important to me. Every time I have step foot in this market, I am always greeted with very friendly service and smiles. The employees are clearly happy, the market is very clean and I am always able to find what I am looking for. If you want to avoid purchasing meat that is filled with growth hormones etc, definitely come here! They have an amazing selection of meat from sunny side! That means, happy cows! Nature's Oasis is by far the nicest cleanest newest healthy food store I have ever been in. They have everything any Whole Foods has except the crazy prices! They are fairly priced for their goods. They also have decent local, raw, and fresh made salads and a yummy bakery too. I didn't see beer in their store but I'll bet their neighbor "The Wine Merchant" will have beer if Nature's O doesn't. You must support this store so that they may survive as a niche between the diehard hardcore hippies that say "Shop only at the Durango Co-op" and the "I'm a gonna get mah groceries from Walmart" crowds. My partner is from Durango so we are in Durango often to visit family and of course get out into Nature. We make the drive 2 - 3 times annually from Denver. Since we are health nuts, we frequetn Nature's Oasis each time. Not only are the products you find at Nature's Oasis increcibly fresh and reflects what we are looking for, the service is also spectacular!! You don't hear people brag about great service from university aged kids, however they are knowledgable about what they serve and prepare as well as so friendly and hold a great conversation (and eye contact... a rare find) Kudo's. I love the smell of this place. I always stop by for lunch when I'm in the area. The soups are made on site & always tasty. They fix up such yummy sammys & their three-salad plate is a great deal. ($7.99 for a big to-go box containing your choice of any 3 deli salads; I'm a big fan of the tortellini.) I usually just get a small side of tortellini pasta salad, but today I decided to get the salad plate & it was sooo much food! I don't regret it, I'll be eating this over the next few days. If you're lucky, you'll stumble in one morning to find them serving biscuits and gravy at the deli. The biscuits are big, fluffy, whole wheat monsters made by the Simply Delights bakery, and the gravy is made with sausage from Sunnyside Meats. Overall, the BEST biscuits and gravy I've EVER had. And it doesn't leave you feeling disgusting either. Other things I'm loving: Their sweet corn fritters with sweet chili dipping sauce, their Black Pearl organic salmon, their coffee bacon, and their bulk foods aisle, where I buy everything from falafel mix to organic oatmeal to natural peanut butter. read more

I love this store. It's really beautiful inside and has an amazing array of interesting and unusual gourmet products. I don't understand the bad reviews b/c I've never had a problem at all with Josh or the other managers nor any other staff.
