It's hard for me to review a church as I am not a believer. I grew up Baptist and lost my faith…read morebecause i was taught that the Bible was literal and I eventually could not reconcile that. I also could not reconcile the racist nature of my elders with the teachings of Jesus. I go to this church with my daughter because I would do anything to spend time with her. I grew up in church and was in church if there was a door open. I lost my faith later and it isn't coming back, so this is more of a comparison to the church I grew up in and the loss of that community that came with the loss of my faith. I am not trying to convince you of my lack of faith and generally feel church is good for people. I will say that the primary reason I lost my faith is that I don't believe in things I can't touch. As best I can tell, a miracle is an unexpected outcome. A medical miracle means the doctor was wrong. **I am a doctor, we are wrong a lot and it's not a miracle. One of my greatest sadnesses in life is that I don't know how to give the sense of community to my daughter that I got in church. loved going to church when I was growing up because I felt a sense of belonging. I loved Sunday school and was very involved. I don't feel community. I have been going to this service for the last 6 months and I don't even know if they have Sunday school. Everyone seems friendly. Don't care much for pastor Darren, preaches intolerance with his acceptance.... I am sure that there is community in the small groups that they offer, but it's not like I will ever go.... I really just want community for my daughter. Was pretty disappointed in the Christmas service. Pastor Darren said he had the most convincing argument ever for the proof of Jesus. I guess I don't really expect anyone to bring me back into the fold, but I had hoped something more than "miracles are real, everyone else believes, so should you"

Mike also walked from the church to pray for me when I fell at a restaurant behind the church and completely severed my foot off was so appreciated at that horrible time in my life. Unfortunately, both of these priests have now retired, but they will always hold a special place in my heart, and I wish them well and their retirement years.

They don't have any things they tell people not to do. But one thing I would ask them before you ever attended this church is what is your stance on homosexuality. If they call it a sin, then they don't understand science and they really don't even read Greek or Hebrew because they would read the so-called anti-gay passages differently if they read, especially Greek and understood the meaning of and in the ancient Greek world. Now, I' m talking about reading fluently, and not these fools who look up word studies using Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. and can't read. Just make sure the pastor has a Master of Divinity.

Harpeth has been such a great place for our family. Our 13 & 17 year old daughters joined the youth…read moreprogram and have made so many great friendships. The youth leaders have been so encouraging and mentored them. They have grown and are happy at Harpeth. My wife and I have loved the genuineness of the people who have welcomed us. We are a part of a small group that meets each week. They also have weekly Bible study classes that we have been able to join. The messages are always great on Sundays. The worship team is so talented as well. Our family has experienced real growth in ourselves and our relationship with God. Thanks be to God for Harpeth Christian Church and for leading us there.
