We were driving thru Skibbereen on a Sunday afternoon and stopped to go to Church. Sunday Dinner is a thing in Ireland and they do a great one. I had the hake, which was a generous portion served over puréed sweet potatoes, vegetables and a nice cream sauce. My sister had the roast beef that was a large portion as well, with wonderful gravy and another sauce. Beautiful decor in an old ((Anglican?) church. I've been here several times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food is always very good and the staff efficient and friendly. Some comfort food and also more refined dishes on the menu. The restaurant itself is stunning when sitting upstairs. It's a converted church so the glass and architecture is so unique for a dining establishment. Wow! This place is incredible. It is a fairly large restaurant that serves western brand of foods. There is ample indoor seating and they were able to accommodate our party of 9 without issues. Of course, we got reservations before hand which is something I highly recommend. It seems like a very popular restaurant. The ambiance is great. It is an old church! The stained glass windows and high ceilings are phenomenal. As a non-religious person I found the novelty quite amusing. There are minimal references to religion which is a huge plus. The staff are friendly and efficient. The pricing was what you'd expect for a novelty high end restaurant. Parking is a pain but it is a small town. This was such a good find! read more

We are visiting from the US and found this listing. We booked a table for the two of us tonight. It was lovely. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing. From the bottled water, to the bread to our dinner, just outstanding. We both had the beef stir fry with rice and not only did it taste wonderful, the portions were more than enough. It was our best experience all the way around since coming to Ireland. Our family was on holiday and stopped in for a late lunch back in June. We had a 11 people in our party and had no problem getting seating. Decor was lovely, love stained glass and dark wood. Food was fantastic but the service was definetly poor for half of our group.. Mistakes with order, not having all items in stock, on the phone when food for one of our party never arrived! A second waitress stepped in to help out and our second drink never arrived until we paid our check? Would go again for a second try since I think our timing may have been part to blame? Food quality was fantastic as was presentation on all dishes. Under Alcohol I put not sure since they had one out of the three ales we ordered and not all types of alcohol are served. read more

After a full day of being a tourist, my friend recommended this place for dinner. It's a gorgeous setting in a renovated church. Dinner was served quickly and efficiently. The seafood chowder was in a huge bowl and was delicious. We ordered fish and chips, a couple starters and 2 desserts to round off the meal. Everything was flavorful and in hearty portions. Lovely restaurant aesthetically, but not worth the money. Bad food and bad costumer service. Paid €36 for "Breaded Prawn Scampi" which was just fried prawns and no pasta. When I asked about it and said I was expecting pasta, the server just dismissed me. We were clearly upset with our food and the server avoided us until we asked for the check. We paid a total of €84.40 to be left upset and unsatisfied. The only item worth ordering were the chicken wings. If I'm ever in Skibberren again, I would not go here. read more

A must if your in the area! I ate here last night and was blown away by everything, the building, the decor, the menu and the staff. It's the most beautiful restaurant I have ever visited. Set in a renovated 200 year old church, you can sit comfortably looking at the stained glass windows and chandeliers above. The building is just stunning! As for the food, I was REALLY impressed! We shared the scampi to start and they were perfect! Crispy breadcrumbs on the outside and sweet goodness on the inside! They even made their own sweet chilli sauce (which tasted amazing and so much better than the bottled stuff!) For my main, I went for the fillet steak, which was cooked perfectly, defiantly one of the best I've had this year. It came with pepper sauce, onion rings (mmmmm) and mash. I also got an order of roasted veg which was seriously good! I think they were honey roasted and (surprisingly) I finished them all!! A lovely stop on our breathtaking drive around the Cork portion of the Wild Atlantic Way. We had a local seafood chowder that was excellent! Filled to the brim with fish. Then I had the warm goat cheese salad with pesto dressing. Again, delicious and filling. Service was friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this place if you are nearby. Came for lunch on the way back to cork airport in this converted church. The food was decent though my soup was over salted. Good local bottled beers. Really lovely setting though with beautiful stained glass windows. Also had the fish and chips which was full cooked though some may say it's a crime they didn't have vinegar! Stopped here for lunch while traveling from Kinsale to Kenmare. The restaurant itself is housed in a gorgeous restored-church- its wide open, airy and has gorgeous stained-glass windows and chandeliers. This was my first time in Skibbereen and with a yelp search found this restaurant highly rated. I was certainly not disappointed. This is a lovely environment with delicious food. The building itself had a fire several years ago but the owner painstakingly restores it with many reclaimed treasures. The atmosphere was warm and cheery with a lot of locals enjoying lunch. There were many food options and it was delivered quickly. This is a must stop in a fantastic town. I would highly recommend it. read more

Had a really good meal here before going to a concert next door in Abbeystrewy Parish Church. There was a great value three course early-bird with tea/coffee and a free glass of wine. Had deep fried brie, pork medallions and apple and rhubarb crumble. All three were excellent. Staff were friendly and efficient and the atmosphere and decor were top rate. Skib is on its knees at the moment but it was great to see a busy high quality restaurant doing well during the recession. read more

Took a visitor from the states for lunch. The food was very good and reasonably priced, however the very rude, nearly abusive waitress ruined the experience for us. She never greeted us, just pointed at a table in the corner jammed up against a counter, actually grunted when taking our order, literally threw the food on the table in front of us, and never checked back, forcing us to flag her down for ketchup and a second coffee. She was chatting up everyone around us while completely ignoring us. This is such a unique restaurant and a definite "must stop" if you make it to Skibbereen! It is a previous Methodist church that was converted into a restaurant, with stained glass windows, chandeliers, and hardwood decor. We stopped for lunch and ordered the delicious seafood chowder that was served with brown bread, seafood platter, roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and a BLT at our table. Been to the Church four or five times and loved it the first two, then had bad service the next time, so much depends on which server you get. No fault in the decor and food, both of which are lovely. Would return with visitors and hope I catch them on a good day. read more
