Prices and quality are a bit elevated, with an emphasis on freshness. I recently had oral surgery and afterwards I asked myself "okay but what do I really want to eat right now? Something tasty and SOFT..." My mind came to the Milk Cream Bread from Tous Les Jours, which is a decadently soft round pastry with a sweet, creamy filling. They also have fine sweet coffee drinks and a lot of very nice pastries. And, as I mentioned, some decent savory offerings which you might need to ask them to heat up for you. I will definitely crave their sweet stuff often enough to return here numerous times.

I've tried a few coffees but the one we keep coming back to is the chai latte. They're not overly dusty like some other places chais and they are consistently good. It's one of the best I've had in the twin cities. They do weekend tutoring if you need it and host alot of activities for patrons. The staff is always friendly and we love stopping in for our once-a-week coffee shop stops.

If I describe the environment as being half of the lobby of a new suburban apartment complex, that doesn't do justice to how pleasant it is. Homey, quiet, clean, intentionally designed. When the apartment people give tours to prospective tenants, my confident assumption is that they DEFINITELY show off this area and it probably convinces people to move to this building. The baristas are serious coffee nerds, rightly proud of their single-origin sourcing from farms in Honduras, Costa Rica, and Colombia. My iced vanilla latte tasted great; the mild sweetness from their house-made vanilla was perfect. My friend got a pourover that he loved; he stayed there for about an hour doing some work and was impressed by how long that container stayed warm. If you're arriving by car, there is street parking around the building, but there is also the option of going into the building's garage. They confirmed to me that the ground-level parking spaces are available to customers during their open hours. Also, this is right across the street from the Helmo Ave. station on the new Gold Line. If you're taking that route before 4pm, consider hopping off for one of their impressive coffees!

It appears to have been built out of a lovely Victorian home in Dayton's Bluff, and there is plenty of upstairs seating including cute tables on the landings. There is also a very green patio. Friendly service tops it all off nicely. Their only not-open day is Tuesday, so bear that in mind. There is neighborhood street parking which you may have to hunt around a bit for. Mike's Corner Cafe has a small town diner ambience that you'd expect to find further away from the metro, and I say that as a compliment. If you like a friendly neighborhood breakfast/lunch joint you'll be very comfortable here. They have a pretty large menu, and although they are open daily from 7pm to 3pm, it's not just a breakfast place. There are burgers, sandwiches, and other diner-fare staples, and there is a salad bar which I didn't explore because, well, you know what I was there for. (Also it's in a little bit of a cramped spot near the kitchen; it might lack some of the invitingness of most salad bars.) Service was quick and professional, prices were respectable, and the Eggs Benedict with hash browns met my expectations. I'd be interested in trying their post-breakfast items.

Our patience ended when it exceeded 35 minutes for only two crêpes. We went up to the front register twice. The response was just five more minutes. Multiple tables that ordered after us receive their meals and yet we waited. Talk to the manager who claimed that 30+ minute wait is very normal. Well, it's not for us. They were unable to print any receipt to confirm a refund. We will wait for Visa to ensure that our money was refunded.

We ordered the Croque Madame and bubbles and sat and waited for our food. About 15 minutes later Moriah brought our food out and greeted us and made us feel very welcomed. We then found out she was the General Manager. We were very impressed that the leadership here leads by example and they step up and do every job. She was a server, at the register and cleaned tables. This is rare these days and not only that she was very high energy and very welcoming. We plan to make another trip to try more items on the menu the food was fantastic and the portion sizes were generous. They also have a beautiful outdoor area.
