    Matcha Banana pudding latte
    Amelia C.

Imo they have one of the better matchas in the twin cities for sure. My favorite is the Banana Matcha Pudding Latte and every-time I come to Thirty six cafe, I am always warmly greeted by the baristas. It was pretty busy in the store but they still managed to provide service with a smile everytime i am there. The store had limited seatings but overall a clean environment. Parking is also pretty easy to find. Overall a hidden gem for matcha lovers for sure!

I LOVE thirty six cafe!!! To say I'm obsessed is an understatement. I come here about once a week and it's the highlight of my week. They have the absolute best matcha in the whole Twinn Cities with the best variety!! there are so many flavors and options to choose from!! the staff is so nice as well, and the owner always tries to remember people's names that come in! She is so so sweet! I love the casual atmosphere and it's fun to either pop in and pop out or stay a little bit and work when I go there!! can't wait to go back next week

Thirty-Six cafe has the best matcha drinks in town, nothing more to add on that. Wait time was 45 minutes, Macy was so kind and seated us right away when a spot for us opened up. The cafe no longer had the pink floral decor but it's still really cute! The soufflé pancakes were pretty good. They're a fun dessert item. I wouldn't say so for breakfast since they are a little too sweet but if you've got a sweet tooth you'll definitely enjoy these. I was sad to hear they discontinued the kitchen aspect of the cafe and are focusing only on the matcha but I do understand. Best of luck with Fufu Matcha! I'll be sure to stop by whenever visiting :)

Loved this cafe! We got the smoked salmon avocado toast, mango sticky rice creme souffle, strawberry shortcake souffle pancakes, hot matcha latte, and maple matcha latte. Everything was delicious and the staff were friendly. The matcha is a bit on the stronger side for me but that's how you can tell they use high quality matcha. The seasonal maple latte's syrup and donut topping were too sweet for me, but the matcha itself was good. They also have water you can serve for yourself. It has a nice, clean, somewhat minimalist interior too. It can get busy but they have seats for you to sit at to wait for tables to open up. Restroom is available and clean. I'd highly recommend!

Adorable little place! So modern, and the ambiance was very trendy with pop music playing. The music was a little loud for my liking, and sound really echoed through the space, but I'm incredibly sound sensitive as well. The matcha was really yummy but it was also INCREDIBLY sweet, to the point I wasn't able to finish it. I would definitely return to try the matcha but with significantly less sweetener in it. All of the food we had was DELICIOUS, so light and great for the hot day we visited on. Overall I did really like this place and would probably return if I'm in the area.

Breakfast lovers! This place is for you. Small menu but tasty. Cafe is cute, full of pink flowers, they have about 10 tables maybe. No reservations required, first come first serve. They have a variety of matcha drinks and coffee.

The matcha is smooth, strong, and sifted to perfection! I'm obsessed with the banana pudding matcha latte. The baristas put time and effort into every drink, which is much appreciated. The ambiance of the place reminds me of high tea in London. Definitely at the top of the list whenever im asked for matcha recommendations!

Such a cute cafe! Solo trip to St. Paul and found this place had amazing reviews. Quite small and not many tables, I ended up having to take a 4 person table and it was just me. I ordered the strawberry matcha and the early riser avocado toast. Everything came out quickly and staff were very friendly and attentive. I was able to sit for a bit and enjoy my food and beverage and get some work done on my laptop. You can tell this is the spot all the cool kids go to! Wonderful experience and will of course be back to visit!

Delicious, fluffy soufflé pancakes! Many flavors to choose from, and seasonal options as well! Many drink options and also other breakfast options too. Great atmosphere, cute decorations, lots of seating for a small space. Strawberry shortcake and lemon blueberry photographed.

I don't like how the menu is constantly changing but I did enjoy their soufflé pancakes when they had them!

I went in on a Saturday to try their limited time only Sea Salt Maple Donut Matcha. I went around 10am and there were already a lot of people dining in. When it's busy, it can be hard to find parking since it's only street parking. Since I was doing take out, I didn't have to wait long. I like that they have seated sections for you sit and wait while they make the drinks. If you love matcha, I highly recommend you try their weekly specials. It was my second time trying their matcha flavors and I'm addicted.

I heard about this spot from the owner on social media. I'm so glad I chose to check this place out. It was so cute!! The service was so great and speedy. I got the strawberry matcha. Very yummy! Definitely recommend.

    Does this place have Mimosas?

I did not notice any on the menu, nor anything with alcohol.

Is this the kind of coffee shop where one can do some work and/or read a book?

    Absolutely!!!

Is the amount of whipped cream on the pancakes overwhelming? In a lot of photos, the whipped cream looks too generous.

I personally font think so because it's not overly sweet, in our situation I thought about asking for more because it was so good! I think it's proportionate for the size and thickness I'd the pancakes

Even though I had never been to the Colossal Cafe, they seemed to be just what we wanted. The cute cafe (Grand Ave location) is a cozy place and it was easy to find street parking around the corner, not far from the front entrance. We were able to snag a table by the window, so it was also great for people watching. My cousin ordered tea and I ordered coffee and I was pleased that they came by frequently offering refills. The service was helpful, cheerful and friendly, perfect for showing my New York cousin, what "Minnesota Nice" is all about. The food was excellent. I had the bacon, green onion and cream cheese omelet ($16) which I really enjoyed. I also enjoyed the toast with a side of orange marmalade. The omelet was well made (not always the case when I order at a restaurant) and the ingredients they added gave it a cravable taste. In fact, I was so impressed with this combination, I made it at home the following weekend. My cousin had the Greek Frittata ($15.50) with grilled marinated artichoke, spinach, green onion, feta and tomato. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Although the total a bit on the tad on the high side for breakfast ($45.88 before tip) this was a great place to have breakfast, chill, and talk.

Drove by this place often during our stay here in St. Paul. Based on my affection for " hole in the…read morewall" type places & the restaurants outside appearance I knew I had to eventually give it a try. The interior is clean & cozy with just the right amount of booths & tables plus a Waffle House style counter right in front of the flat~top griddle. The very personable & friendly wait person immediately brought me water, followed by a hot mug of coffee. Happily it was just a regular "cup of Joe" diner style coffee instead of the dark, muddy, bitter Starbucks imitation stuff found in all the trendy places in this area. After checking out the plate of the other counter customer I decided to have what he was having; the Uptowner eggs Bennie. English muffin w/andouille sausage patties, perfectly poached eggs hollandaise sauce sprinkled lightly w/ cayenne & a large order of crispy hash browns made with real fresh potato instead of the dehydrated-then rehydrated boxed kind served in most places. Everything was absolutely spot on! The breakfast menu also features pancakes, various egg dishes & many omelet choices. Sadly, I could only eat one breakfast! I really enjoyed watching the cook rapidly crafting the various dishes in front of me; this guy was a genius at the grill! He & the other cook seemed like they really enjoyed their work, smiling & laughing while carrying on a conversation in Spanish. In short; the food was terrific, the service awesome and the atmosphere welcoming & neighborly. I will be returning often!

The hashbrowns were perfection! My service was great - the one server holding things down was so kind and efficient. I love diners where you can see the chef griddling right in front of you. A man in need came in towards the end of my visit, and the waitress provided him with a cup of coffee to warm up - I chose to pay for his coffee, but it's these little acts of kindness from restaurant teams that show why restaurants are the heart of our community. Thank you!
