In my 44 years, I have never found a barber/hairstylist better than Kenny. He is extremely professional and I really appreciate that he takes his time to give you the best haircut possible. First of all this review is LONG over due! I've been going to Kenny for 3 years and every time he provides an excellent cut and knows what I want with very little directions. He provides great input on quick styling tips for busy mornings. I wish there were more than five star to give to this man! Second time visiting Kenny at Classic Clipper. Tried out the straight shave this time and could not be more pleased. If you have an hour to unwind, take your mind off the daily grind and walk out looking clean shaven, then go in for a straight razor shave. Starts off with warm lather and moisturizer, then a hot towel and razor. More lather and shaving until the cool menthol and cold towel. Very refreshing on this recent heat wave we had and for the whole day you feel like a million bucks. read more

What an incredible place for a man to get a straight razor shave. I was on my way to another place for a half lame shave that I knew I wasn't gonna like. I spotted The Classic Clipper and cut across 17th st in traffic and walked in to a solid 2 chair shop that your used to getting a real shave. My man Kenny took his time and you could tell he knew what he was doing. I've been looking for a place to come to after a long week of work and just wanting to sit and shut up and get a solid straight razor shave. As someone that usually pays $40 for a haircut I expect great service and a great cut. No with that being said, I got exceptional service and an exceptional haircut (Girlfriend Approved) for only $20. When I got home and showered - not a hair out of place. Kenny is a cool cat and a classic barber. He takes tons of pride in each haircut and you never leave disappointed.

I find my experience with Kenny rather surprising given the other reviews. My experience with Kenny was quite unprofessional and somewhat offensive. We ended up deciding that he is not the right barber for me, which I understand, but how he vacated me from his business is what I have a problem with. It all started with me calling him on a Wednesday. He didn't answer, so I left a message. He promptly called me back Thursday around noon and said that he may or may not come in that day or Friday and that he would call back and let me know. This was a little strange from my perspective, as I am used to making a set appointment for my haircuts, but my schedule was open and I was willing to be flexible so I agreed to have him call me back later that day or the next. He didn't call back. So I called him again the Wednesday after which I had called him first. It was around noon when I called, and he got me in for an appointment at 1:30, which I appreciated considering he had meant to cut my hair the previous week. I arrived at 1:30 and watched him finish up with his previous client. This is where the second star comes from, as the man seemed very satisfied with his haircut (I thought it looked good as well) and I also saw Kenny use a straight razor to clean up, which is very nice. Regressing back to my experience, he took me in the chair and asked me how I wanted my hair cut, so I proceeded to explain how my hair has been cut and what I ultimately want it took look like. He had trouble understanding exactly what I was describing, so after some more dialogue we came to an understanding that it would be an undercut, hard line on both sides, with the top nice and long, trying to even out some tapering that had been cut into it. He sprayed my hair with water, combed it up and walked away from the chair (presumably to get a clip or something). I wanted to make sure before he began that he wasn't going to cut my hair so that it all flows to the back of my head, but over the right side. While motioning the direction of the hair, I ran my fingers through the right side of my hair and messed up part of where he had combed. At this he became very short, complaining that it had already been 15 minutes (I'd been sitting in the chair for well less than 10) and he hadn't even started cutting my hair yet, and concluded that he wasn't the barber for me. While he was still speaking he turned my chair and removed my smock, telling me that the "oriental" woman down the street would cut my hair nicely. At this point I agreed that he is not the barber for me, so with my hair still soaking wet I asked for a towel or something to dry my hair with so I wouldn't walk out of a barber shop with wet, uncut hair. He gave me a half-sized paper towel sheet. So I stood up, dried my hair what little I could, and left. I'd bet he gives a pretty nice haircut, but his professional etiquette was appalling. read more
