The ladies arrived on time but spent most of the beginning talking and on their phones. They tossed all trash bags in our garage. Didn't even ask where our trash can was. I reached out to the cleaning authority to do a pre move in cleaning. My condo was already "clean". I asked that the place be "sanitized, dust the vent covers, mop the hardwood, wipe door handles ( highly touched items). I KNOW they did not dust the vents, hardwood was streaky and they left a cloudy film on the floor that could be seen in the sunlight reflection ( assuming Swiffer wet mopped) and there was still a piles of insects in the corners of the bathrooms ( main reason i paid for their services). the condo was already cleaned by a prior company but the condo had not been lived in for 3-4 months and there was some accumulation that i did not want to deal with / have time for in the midst of a move. Whatever is the response I get! We went online to book an estimate appointment and saw their "openings". I booked one for tomorrow February 8, 2022. I get a text from "Ron" at 2:44PM today: Zaneta This is Ron from the Cleaning Authority he would ask for a house cleaning estimate for tomorrow at 11am,unfortunately right now we are unable to add any new customers to our schedule for at least the next 1 to 2 months due to a severe staffing shortage in our area I apologize we would love to take on all the new customers we can but right now we just do not have the staff to do the work, I would suggest checking back in a month and hopefully we will be in a better situation, please confirm you got this. I used TCA for several months and I noticed the "Teams" were rarely familiar with my house. At first Janel assigned a particular team to my house but as time went on people came to clean who were totally unfamiliar to me and lacked basic common sense concerning cleanliness. They had no idea how to clean my house the way Janel had explained to the first team and I found I had to clean the house after they left. Over tine they took less and less interest in cleaning and different people came every time. I found I was calling Janel almost every time to report areas not cleaned. Stay away! I should have done my due diligence before even bothering to schedule anything with them. To begin, I never had a cleaning done by them because the operations manager Rocio canceled my contract less than 24 hours before my scheduled cleaning. The reason for his cancellation is that I asked to many questions about how they are handling my personal data, what data was being collected and sold to third parties (yes they sell your data), etc. My questions arose from several issues with their app and website and the lack of proper security controls for the customer account.They store people personal data, including full address, garage codes, alarm system codes, door codes without proper controls. Stay away from any organization that terminates you because they cannot provide answers on how they are protecting and handling your data. After working with this company for almost a year, things continued to get progressively worse. I made sure to report things and had to put in simple request like "please make sure they clean the sink." They broke several items blinds, sink drain, missing chargers, etc. all which were reported. Almost every time my husband would have to cleanup behind them. The final straw was the last visit when my husband was working from home. They were in the house for less than an hour, he sent pictures of dust and crumbs left behind on the tables. Also a picture of the sink I just requested was still not cleaned. As soon as they arrived one woman was frantically going through our pantry and my husband asked "what are you looking for?" She did not respond. Finally the other woman stated she is looking for a trash bag. We put out a trash bag near every container in our home. How many more trash bags do you need? I called the company to just voice my concern in hopes to have it rectified. I brought up the trash bags, which was minor compared to the lack in cleaning. Instead the owner wanted to argue about the trash bags. I tried twice to redirect the conversation to the cleaning aspect, but after his refusal to listen I politely cancelled the service. I received a flier in the mail about all the wonderful cleaning services these people offer. Sounded great. I checked online and set up an online appointment to get an estimate. I got a voicemail back from them saying that they aren't taking new customers now and are cancelling my appointment. I called the 800 number to ask why I received a flier and why the information on the website does not state that they're not taking new customers. "Staffing shortage." He also said that they are taking orders for services 6 months to a year in advance (yeah... that's not going to happen.) Ok... so STOP ADVERTISING. Or at least add a disclaimer to your website saying you're not accepting new customers. I know it is costing them money. Ridiculous. Don't waste your time with these people like I did. read more

They present themselves as a very professional and competent organization but fall short in the execution. You read through the materials which provides an exhaustive outline of the services to be performed and you get the feeling that you've made the right decision. Lo and behold you watch as the crew keeps referring back to the list of items included in a whole house cleaning and when they're finished they've missed items entirely. She confirmed my info and said she would have someone contact me the next day. By 4:30 Friday I still had not heard from anyone, so I called again. She spoke to her manager who said that they were trying to fit me in, but were booked for the rest of the month. This was at the beginning of the month! I've been a customer of The Cleaning Authority in Chantilly for about 2 years now and I have had no issues whatsoever with the service they have provided. They arrive at the same time every other Monday (around lunch time), and the girls are always very accomodating when I arrive home from work for my daily lunch break. They will often clean my bedroom first as a courtesy so I can eat in peace as they clean the rest of the house. The girls truly go above and beyond to satisfy the needs of my roommates and I, including doing things that they aren't always required to do (i.e. picking laundry up off the floor and putting it in the hamper, making the bed, etc.). And believe me, we have some unique needs that I'm sure the girls don't always appreciate (3 twenty-something males) The management staff (Rocio Reyes and Ron Goings) have been a pleasure to work with. I haven't had any issues thus far with my cleaning service, the job they do is consistently terrific, so honestly I have not had to interact with them very often. When I have, they have been nice, respectful, and very professional in accomdating the schedule of myself and my roommates. I will continue to use The Cleaning Authority for my house cleaning needs for as long I'm in the area. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I requested a move out cleaning for June over 1 week ago and was told headquarters would have to contact me to do so and would in 24 - 48 business hours. Of course they didn't follow up so I called back again and requested to schedule my move-out cleaning for June. The agent assured me that someone would CALL to schedule the cleaning. 10 minutes later I get a text - " The Cleaning Authority: no openings to schedule your cleaning. We are already booked for the rest of this month. Thank you" #1. We are in the month of May. #2 I wanted this to be scheduled for June. #3. Why are you texting and not calling me? I have NEVER gotten a text message as a follow up to schedule services. My move out cleaning would have been a trial run as I was hoping to hire The Cleaning Authority based on all of the great reviews. That text message was enough to tell me to walk away. If you're big on Customer Service - don't get involved with this "company". Response to Ron's comment: "I'm glad you take such pride in your company. Take these negative reviews as constructive criticism and do better. Coming to a defense and listing what you've been doing better isn't going to help. I am a potential customer and a simple apology would have gone much further. The owner and cleaning ladies are a pleasure to work with, but unfortunately the Office Manager, Rocio T., who is in charge of billing and scheduling, is unacommodating, unapologetic, incendiary, and just plain unprofessional. On two separate occasions she has argued with me about charges to my account and getting us on the schedule. She told me I was actually being undercharged and that people don't normally ask for a price breakdown, when I inquired about charges to my account. When I tried to get back on the schedule after we had paused our scheduled cleans for two months, she simply emailed me stating my account had been terminated and I wasn't on the schedule. When I called to complain about the poor service, she actually called me back to argue that she had been professional, which in of itself is a pretty unprofessional thing to do. This demonstrates a complete lack of a customer oriented perspective and a failure to meet customer needs. I can only imagine how unhelpful she would be if we had to work with this company on more serious issues, ie. damages in our home. For these reasons, we no longer trust this company and are taking our business elsewhere. read more

Decided to use this company because they claim to use natural cleaning products. Early July, I called the 1-866 number. Gave name and my # and was told someone would be contacting me soon to set up the time. However, no one ever called. Didn't bother me at the time because we decided not to move into our new home. However, called them recently for the job and AGAIN no one called to schedule the cleaning date and time. Finally, after 24hrs I had to follow-up with someone from the local office in Chantilly and was given a lame excuse as to why I never received a call. Spoke with Rocio (Operations Manager) and emphasized this would be a move-in cleaning. Had scheduled for the cleaning crew to arrive between 12-1pm so that our air ducts could be cleaned due to renovations that had just been completed. Cleaning Authority crew showed up late- @ 1:45pm and NO ONE bothered to call to inform me of their late arrival. Spoke to Rocio and demanded to send another person since they arrived late to assist in finishing job quickly and thoroughly. She told me I had to pay an addt'l $30/hr! Told her that was absurd and it should not be on my expense to do so. Eventually, I was contacted by Ron and he sent another lady as well as supervisor. However, I did not find their cleaning to be adequate. I felt it was a rushed job, and done poorly! After the crew left our home, my husband and I were unhappy to find the basement floor, bar countertop and bathroom was still dirty. We contacted Ron (owner) to report our complaint and we were told someone would come the next day to correct the problem areas. However, the following morning received a call from Rocio to notify that someone was returning to our home to correct the problems and it would cost an additional fee $75/hr- which we did not agree upon. This company, BY FAR has the worst customer service we've ever experienced. They would not rectify anything without more cost unto their clients. Which I find extremely disappointing, especially for the first-time customers. I highly doubt they have maintained or retained any or most of the clients. I used TCA for over a year, every other week, and had the same crew nearly every visit. I found myself consistently cleaning up things they left. They did a good job cleaning at first, and they have always done a good job on the range, toilets and floors, but didn't pay attention to details: trash, clumps of hair from my dog that blew under furniture on hardwood, whole sections of base board undusted and forgetting to dust furniture. When I reported it to Rocio, I'd get "oops" kind of messages. About 6 weeks ago, I asked for them to be on a fairly regular schedule, as the team would show up any hour of the day and I recently started working from home in a confidential industry, so it was very disruptive. She asked "am (8-11) or pm (12-3)" and I said am. The first cleaning after the "re-schedule", they showed up at 1:00, the next at around the same time, and this week......I called at 3:05 and couldn't reach her, so I called the main office. The team arrived at 3:20. My house is new, small and uncluttered. 3 women were here less than an hour. They bang things around in their rush, which leaves dings in the doors, walls and especially floors. They blew through here and I am tired of what their "help" is costing me. I terminated their services today. I shouldn't have to clean up after the cleaners, and I certainly shouldn't have to worry about damage to my house. read more

We just recently moved to a larger home with wood floors that we did not have in our previous home. This is a daunting task to do on my own but they did a fabulous job! What I like in general: The house cleaners get employment benefits; I'm dealing with a locally-owned franchise; there is a check list so I know what to expect; there is a completed list that is left for me; I don't have to buy supplies or equipment as they bring their own; and best of all they use environmentally friendly cleaning products. What I like specifically: I have the biweekly cleaning. With two pets and a house in the woods there is lots of dust and dirt. The team I have does a really good job. They even found (this may be a little TMI) a crown that had popped off and saved it (thank goodness!), plus that meant they really had done a thorough cleaning job (we had looked everywhere for it--even in the pipe. This saved $800 at the dentist!). Ron, you have done more harm for your business than any of our reviews with your defensive and bitter replies to everyone. Potential customers want a business that takes responsibility for itself. Now, they see a business owner who blames his customers for being impossible to please and even blames Yelp. Plenty of other cleaning services have earned 4 or 5 stars. A decent business owner wouldn't blame the customers as you have in each of your replies. If I were a potential customer, I would be far more concerned by the defensive nature of your replies to everyone's complaints than by the complaints themselves. Sucessful business owners and companies issue an apology when their customers are not satisfied and announce some plan to address the problems so as to salvage their reputation and at least look responsible. They showed up right on time and were working hard during the time that they were here. Overall the house was cleaned well, but I did have some issues that I raised to the owner. I did not feel that they cleaned everything that was set forth in the contract, and even though I did a walk through, there were many items that I noticed after wards that were not done. When I contacted the owner to address this, instead of apologizing for the many items that were missed, I was told that I should have let the on site supervisor know, (so essentially it was my fault, and my problem). Basic things were missed, such as dusting, wiping cabinets, kitchen chairs, etc and I though the price was very high for the initial "detail" cleaning, which most of the items in the detail clean were not done to satisfaction. Lesson learned - make sure to have the supervisor go through the house with a detailed checklist before they leave - as awkward as that might feel!! I suppose I'm the type that doesn't like to make people feel bad, and would rather the owner address issues directly with their staff. I'll add more facts to my review, so that my review is not distorted. Supposed to be included in the initial detail cleaning but was not: - all kitchen furniture hand wiped - not done (kitchen chairs were not cleaned at all) - doors and door frames in kitchen and bathrooms hand wiped - none were done - baseboards and window sills in kitchen and bathroom hand wiped - some were done, most were not - fronts of cabinets hand wiped in kitchen and baths - not done - flat areas hand wiped - laundry room sink not cleaned, counter was not wiped down - floors given extra attention - the pantry floor was not vacuumed, or washed, neither was the bathroom medicine closet Supposed to be included in general cleaning but was not: - doors and door frames spot cleaned - not done - general dusting - not done (office, dining room) - toilets thoroughly cleaned - 3 bowls were dirty on the outside of the bowl - glass doors to office and sitting room cleaned (not done) - this was something the owner agreed to during the walk through, but he did note that they don't wash windows, but they would wash the doors All of the items listed above are in the pamphlet and were supposed to be included in my cleaning today (1st clean initial A and general clean sleeping and living areas), but were not - feel free to ask them for one. I prefer to establish long term relationships with companies that have a high level of customer service and integrity, and when something isn't done right, they don't try to blame their customer. They try to work with them to resolve it in a respectful way. I used to clean houses myself back in the day, and if I ever forgot to do something that was agreed to, my reply was - "I'm"m sorry, let me fix that for you, and do it better the next time". It was not, "you should get your old cleaners back because they were cleaning your house for a steal and were probably independents and uninsured". By the way -that wasn't the case :) This is a large company and otherwise seems to be well run, organized, and fairly priced. Overall - like I mentioned at the top - the house looks very good, so if you are looking for basic cleaning services, I'm sure many of their teams are probably reliable. Since this was my first clean....it was a test for me to see if this is a company that I wanted to establish a long-term relationship with. I'm just not looking to have to nitpick every time someone cleans the house...I'm looking for the job to be done right the first time, and I'm definitely looking to work with nice people. I also happen to like to get what I paid for, and not be made to feel bad about it when I call out the fact that I didn't. And so, the search continues! read more

Should not even give 1 star... worst cleaning and worst service ever.. the lady who schedules the cleaning always says that they are very busy and need to service 80 customers a day and she even said that she could not reschedule a cleaning due to an emergency and cancel the account.... horrible experience... even the cleaning was bad, we had new bathroom tiles just 3 months back and the white tiles and grouts are already showing as yellow although it was a weekly once cleaning and stains all over.... will never suggest them to anyone... read more

I would never have posted a review on Yelp if I didn't feel there was no other recourse. I have had cleaning services all my life and this is the first time this happened. I was offered no compensation and not very much understanding - and my calls were unreturned until I called 2 or 3 more times. I do not normally want to disparage businesses but I was appalled at the treatment regarding the theft of a $800 bag. At the time, I lived in a small home and there was only one option as to what happened - had you dealt fairly with me at the time, I would have felt better about your business and not rated you so low. read more

Set up a yelp account just for this service. Used the Web page to request a deep cleaning 12 days out. Did not hear from them after 24 hours, so I called and got their service. She confirmed my info and said she would have someone contact me to coordinate, another 48 hours and no response. Called in again, confirmed my info and said someone would call me. Received a text that they left me a VM that said they were overbooked. Never received a call or a VM, seems to be a theme. Most places would say that they were booked, and then offer alternative dates/times. Guess business is so good they dont need mine or all the others who have had the same problem. read more

I have never written a Yelp review until now, but felt this warranted it. To reiterate other customer complaints: management is rude, always acts too busy, they can't give a timeframe for arrival until the day before, and then it's the customer's responsibility to call them for arrival time. They gave me a two hour window--the crew arrived right at the end of the two hour window. To top it all off, they ruined one of our rugs (pulled strings straight out), and pulled strings straight out of the center of a wall to wall carpeted area. When I informed them, I didn't even get an apology, let alone any kind of reparation. And, if you notice, every complaint on Yelp is met with a defensive response from the company...never an apology or an attempt to make it better. Ridiculously bad customer service. read more

We had been clients for 3 years when we came home to find a large dark mark on the wall after a service. It was very evident that the handle of the vaccuum had been dragged accross the wall. WHen we contacted the Cleaning Authority, they offered to come out and use a magic eraser on the mark which we tried to no avail. They then accussed us of the mark being there for 2 months. I have just canceled our account with this company. After giving them a second chance about a month ago, the service has not improved. There are spots on the kitchen floor in high-traffic areas that have been there for weeks - yet, we had a once a week service agreement. The baseboards were never cleaned. The bathroom floors were cleaned only occasionally (perhaps once a month), and the only bed they have to make in the house - in the master bedroom - consistently looks like it was made by a slovenly child. read more

I had a very similar experience as Kirk L. I scheduled a move-out clean for my condo--it is pretty much emptied out but needed to be cleaned before tenants move in. I was told they only do move-out cleans on Saturdays at a rate of $75/hr. First the GOOD: I loved the job they did--I was doing a few things at my condo (getting copies of keys made and testing them) so I saw them working hard and breaking a sweat. My kitchen and oven insides were scrubbed down, they got rid of alot of dust--overall I am very happy with the quality of the cleaning job. Now the BAD: I scheduled this for noon on a Saturday. I was very specific on the phone to indicate because I had MOVED OUT (hence move out clean) to please call me about 20-30 min. prior to arrival (so around 11:30), so I can let them in. The place is locked and nobody lives there. I was told this is fine. Come the day of, I receive a call at 8AM saying that they are ALREADY THERE!! What?! This is 4 hours earlier than the scheduled time, they didn't call prior to arrival, and they woke me up way earlier than I want to get up on a weekend!! I called the main line and told them I could not rush over there right this minute, nobody lives there to let them in, that my appointment was for NOON, and that they need to come back around noon. Thankfully I didn't get an attitude or rudeness--they were apologetic and said the cleaners would be back around noon. Ok great...except I got a call later saying the cleaners were running late and would arrive around 1pm....and in the end they showed up around 1:45pm. While I am impressed with the cleaning effort, the reason people hire cleaning services is to save time and reduce stress--and in this case they definitely wasted a good amount of my time, reduced my amount of sleep and increased my stress. I suggest they improve their time estimates/logistics/scheduling...having people show up 4 hours early unexpectedly, calling back and forth, and then being late for the REAL appointment time is not something anyone wants to deal with. I am uncertain if I will give them another try. However, if anyone wants to take their chances (perhaps you are cleaning your current residence and will be home all day)...I am sure you will be happy with the level of cleanliness they achieve. read more
