I bought this as a birthday gift for my husband to go with my kids. I scheduled it for 3 pm on a Sunday. We get there at 2:50 and are told to wait in a conference room in an office building. At 3 someone comes in and says our appt is for 3:30, I told the lady I called to confirm the appt for 3 but yes since we drove all the way there we would wait until 3:30. At 3:36 a guy comes in and says he can move our appt to 4! What!??!? We were bored out or our minds, the waiting room was worse than a doctor office. Total waste of money. Great experience and very well done! This is great for people looking to do something a little different that lets you exercise your mind as well as have a really fun time in the process. I would rate the puzzles between easy to moderate. The goal is for everyone to have a fun time, and our group had a fun time, for sure. In regards to the other review on here complaining about the price - I think the price is worth the experience. I would put this type of experience in the same category as Laser Tag which runs at around $10.00/15min. We were able to find a coupon and did it for around $14/person, which I felt was an amazing deal. We've been to a ton of escape rooms, some have been amazing, some have been meh, and some are middle of the road. This is probably one of the better rooms we went to. We were scheduled in a room with teenagers, but luckily they have a policy where minors can't be in a room with adults, one which the teenagers didn't read, so they had to choose another room. My husband and I did the Nautalis game last night, and both left really disappointed. It was all just locks and more locks. Compared to other clue rooms in the area that have magnetic props this was a big let down, not very inventive. The room was also not fully set up when we started, after 15 minutes of being stumped (since the prop we needed was not in the room) they had us leave the room and start over. The good side was that the staff was overall very professional, and the way the help with clues was very nice. read more

We were scratching our heads trying to find something to do to entertain a group of 17 year olds for a birthday party. After hearing tons about escape rooms I personally really wanted to try it and it seemed like a great idea for the party. You have to book the whole room at once (up to 6 people) or there's a possibility that they will make you work with other people (ie if you book 3 people they could put you in a room with 3 other people you don't know). I'm in IT, and thus not a social person, so I don't really care for that idea. The price - at $28pp - seemed about fair considering what all the other escape rooms cost. We picked what turned out to be their hardest room - which no one else has solved in time yet - and it was a great puzzle room designed around the 1893 Chicago World Fair. There's tons of puzzles and locks hidden around the room and it was a great fun for 60 minutes rushing around to try and solve everything. It was a blast! read more

This was fun but it could have been a much better experience. We were shoved into a room without any sort of briefing after the game had already started. We had no context of what we were supposed to do. They put us in a room with 4 strangers that were already playing and into the game. Having 6 people seems like too many and joining a game that had already started with a group that already knew each other was a bummer. I drove 2 hours to try this so I was disappointed. I will try it again sometime but I will make sure they brief us before we go in and either do it just the 2 of us or go with people we know. I would not recommend doing it with strangers- it was weird and not much fun. read more

Let me start by saying my review is now upgraded to 5 stars due to the amazing treatment The Clueroom owners personally provided us as a group of 30 for our corporate team event the second week of October. We booked and paid online, but had communicated via email and phone multiple times to ensure they could accommodate our special needs of a conference room and the ability to order breakfast and lunch for our folks traveling from multiple states for this activity. The team was broken out into 3 teams and 1 team actually escaped!! Our learning experiences collectively as a team was to learn each other's approach to troubleshooting, problems and working together for the solutions. My boyfriend and I love escape rooms, and this was our absolute favorite. Apparently my boyfriend's brother signed us up for the most difficult room (1893) because he wanted a challenge. A challenge is exactly what we got. Not only were we bested by the clue room, but we spent hours after debriefing on the experience and attempting to solve the seemingly unsolvable. The story of our room was exciting, and the room itself was well-designed. The customer service was also excellent. We plan to return in the future to conquer the challenge. It was difficult with only four people because there were so many puzzles to solve, so I recommend having 5-6. Don't bring too many friends because the rooms are relatively small! A very fun evening out with some friends! Even the skeptical ones said they had a blast and would do it again. The puzzle was challenging, and we certainly felt lost a few times and needed a few clues. Mi-6 we are not, I guess :D The hosts were great -- let us choose when we did or didn't want clues, and when we almost had it, even though the timer had JUST run out, they gave us a few more minutes to finish and taste victory. So we won - ish. Still felt fine. Only 4 stars because I'm sure it could be better -- more interactive, more high-tech. But that is ok; it was still fun and the price (with the Groupon Discount) was on point. Oh, yeah, ON WHO YOU BRING: I've done these a couple of times -- both times similar and fun. But most importantly, I saw that with a small group, we could be in there with strangers. I think that would completely suck (either yours or the other group would take over just because the teamwork is better with people you know. And no one wants to feel like a third wheel in a game like this). So I make sure to fill the room with 6 every time I go (I think they take up to 8 -- sometimes 6 seems like too many, but you need 6 if you don't want strangers in there with you -- or at least pay for the full 6 and only bring your 4-5. I think it would be worth it, especially if you have a discount). Elisa and Veronica were great to work with from the first phone call to book the rooms, to following up over email, being flexible with our group changes, and being so fully welcoming our group and making sure we all had a great experience. The puzzles were a great mix of various types of critical thinking and the kids couldn't stop talking about all of the details they worked through in the various scenarios. I don't normally write reviews for things, but I left The Clue Room in such a great mood that I had to say something! I bought a LivingSocial for this and didn't really know what to expect. When our group showed up at an office building, I was even more skeptical. We went inside and were shown to a "briefing room", where I felt like I was in a meeting at work. After getting the run-down of what we were about to do, we were shown to "the room". Initially, it felt slow. None of us really knew what to do and were grasping at anything that may have been a clue, but I'm guessing that's the point. As the game went on and we started finding more pieces to the clues and puzzles, everyone became consumed by the clue/puzzle/lock they were trying to figure out. Every time we would figure something out, we would become increasingly excited with our little victory! At the end, we were able to escape and celebrated with cheers and a big group hug! The owners of The Clue Room chatted with us for a while after our game. They were so friendly and enthusiastic. When we walked out, our group stood in the parking lot for a while rehashing things and laughing about the experience. We'd all had such a great time! The experience was challenging enough to be fun, but easy enough to avoid (too much) frustration. It was a unique alternative to a movie, bowling, or laser tag activity. My husband and I do lots of escape rooms. We were very excited to have our friend come with us in hopes that she would be hooked as well. We showed up at the wrong location first. Apparently they have two so that was confusing. We ended up at our location and were very excited about the room we chose, talking about it in the car. Our past experiences, the escape rooms have been decorated extremely well to help with the backstory. We walked in the front door and it looked to be pretty cool and decorated with a tomb and alice in wonderland chess pieces. We were excited that if these things were out there, what is in the room?! We walk in to be greeted and the lady explained the room to us. She gave us a back story. She was not very excited about it but the back story was pretty neat. She led us to the room, opened the door, and wah wah wahhhhhh... I don't want to be rude because I know these rooms are difficult to build. But it was poor. painted furniture, doll house on the counter, decorated ish. Really just a room full of locked dresser drawers and locked living room furniture. No true concept. extremely lack luster. So we begin. The clues were hard to follow, puzzles didn't make sense... lots of things that had signs on them, "do not remove" and made no sense there. It was a room full of nonsense and not in the Alice way. We did escape with hints and guessing from the clues just out of the air. We left and our friend said, "Are they all like that?" We said, "No absolutely not." She responded with, "Okay, good I was going to say....". I support small businesses and local companies. I try my best to make sure that we give them our business. I hope for this company, that they take more time to visit other escape rooms, and really see how the concept works. I truly felt like I wasted my money on this one, and it was pretty disheartening. This was SO MUCH FUN! Our group was locked in a room, a clock started counting down an hour, and we had to figure out clues (that unlocked more clues typically using physical locks) to get out of the room. Unfortunately, we failed, but we got close, and had a blast. Solving the clues involved figuring out some pattern-type games, but no heavy math. We had a group of four, which was a good size. The owners were very friendly, the activity was well-organized, and I definitely want to go back. Anybody who likes mystery games will love this! One helpful hint is to make a group strategy ahead of time ... for me this was a surprise birthday activity, so we wasted some time up front to get going as a group. read more

After doing the rounds of a handful of escape rooms in the Denver area, we decided to give Clue Room a try. There were pluses and minuses compared to our previous experiences. Pluses: The woman I spoke to on the phone was very helpful at getting us into the proper difficulty room and booking it so that we had it all to ourselves. We've had mixed results when being paired with strangers. The back of the room door is painted in chalkboard paint and chalk and erasers are provided so we had a very visible place to track info for all to see and erase it as it was no longer needed. We didn't succeed in completing the puzzle within the allotted hour but the clock kept running and the owner came in to show us how close we were (we'd actually skipped a step that wasn't allowing us to finish). We had the last bit put together by 3 minutes past the deadline which wasn't as discouraging as it could have been. Minuses: We weren't able to solve a single puzzle without a hint. We were always on the right track but got freaked out at how much time was passing. There wasn't much variety in the types of locks. There were different ways to arrive at combinations but they were of only two varieties: key and 5-digit alpha-numeric. All in all, we would return to try another of their rooms and they have several! read more

I have to admit to being skeptical about all the glowing reviews - I've been Yelping for long enough to have had a couple of experiences with places that were supposed to be "AMAZING!" and they sucked. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the Clue Room. I went with a group that included 3 gamers and we still didn't manage to make it out before our time was up on the 2nd level room. My tips would be to accept more than 1 hint the whole game - that was our downfall. Also, probably much more fun to go with your friends that random people if you can arrange it. We absolutely want to go back for the last room. It was a great activity that we could do with two infants and there aren't many of those! The only criticism I have is that the facility wasn't brand new and shiny for those who that matters. read more

We showed up for our appointment a bit early but when we walked into the room the owner came out and said that our appointment was 15 minutes before what I had thought was our scheduled time. (I checked my email....we were early). Due to the fact that we were 'late', he put us in the room right away without a backstory and the group that was already in the room had clearly been in there for a bit. It is incredibly hard to start an escape room late because you don't know what has been completed, checked, etc.....not to mention the gentleman on the other team was horribly bossy but had no idea what he was talking about (Anyone that has done an escape room before knows that you don't have to solve all the puzzles in one room before you can go into the other room and yes, this key did open the door that you told us wouldn't work and hey can you let someone else try that or are you the only one capable because you're obviously a genius, oh and by the way, you screaming at your friend is not only rude but horribly distracting). The puzzles that I was able to work on were engaging but there were too many locks for my taste and the room seemed a bit more low budget than the others that I've done in the past. The couple was extremely nice after we ran out of time and it may have been a better experience if the circumstances would have been different but we were so frustrated that we decided to do another escape room on the way home. Thank goodness that experience was much better! Overall, I wouldn't say that I wouldn't ever go back. However, I think I would pick one of the other escape rooms in Denver first. Epic Escape Rooms, Conundrum Escape Rooms and the Denver Escape Room were all really wonderful experiences. read more

It's ok. The room was was just an office building room with not much in it. I expecting lots of props, decorations, lighting etc to set the mood that matches the back story they told us. It's just a bland room with yellow walls and tan carpet and two windows with mini blinds and one cabinet with a bunch of locks on it with clues in the drawers that we needed to figure out and open. We did an "easy" room even though it was very challenging. It was fun but not sure I would go back. I thought it would be better considering how good the reviews are online. read more

Had a great time. However they don't tell you at time of booking that you may be paired with other people. They make it sound like you can play with a group of two and then you get there and find out they've added people you don't know to your group. That should be noted somewhere and they should tell you at the time of booking instead of surprising everyone. Came here for a team building experience. This is my second escape room experience and was really disappointed. My co-workers and I had fun but it was more the camaraderie. Room was pretty blank, hardly any props and dark. Hard to see when your eyes like mine are a bit older. Hardly any lead on for the story and didn't really feel like I was part of the mystery because of the way it was all presented. Just a bunch of locks that I couldn't see that had to be unlocked to get to another lock to hopefully find one of 4 keys...but let's not tell you that one of the keys you find while needed to open a door into the next room is not one of the keys that you are required to find. Just very little understanding of how it all worked. Will not go back to this one or their other location. read more

My sister and I (in our 30's) took our parents (in their 50's) here as a surprise for a Mother/Father's Day gift; they had no idea what they were in for until we sat down with Todd for our briefing. My sister and I had been really excited about our appointment, but it was awesome how my parents jumped in and really owned the experience, too! We're a bright bunch, but that room had us working HARD for the full hour - no one was at a loss of something to do for any period of time. Escaping at the last second, we were all talking about the strategies we'd use next time, and already hooked and ready to do another. We don't always work well as a team in life, but this experience really made us work at our own particular strengths, and was very team building. Todd was wonderful! I've already told a dozen people about this place. It's a good thing they have a few different rooms, but they're also changing the next rooms up for autumn. Clue Room is clean, the workers are friendly but the clues make no logical sense. We've done multiple escape rooms and the first clue in the room usually leads to the next clue. The first clue in our room was not answered for at least 8 more puzzles down the line and didn't even help us solve the overall escape. Once we did solve the last puzzle, we didn't even get a conclusion about the crime, just a weird voice telling us we escaped. The puzzles here are more luck, less logic and brain power. SO much fun!!! My fiancé and I went for a fun and different date experience and had a blast! We were in the room with another couple we had just met, and all worked together to figure out clues and puzzles to unlock doors and drawers. We only had an hour to figure out how to escape the room and solve the mission, and we made it out of the room with 37 seconds to spare and were so excited! (I've been stoked all day about it!) The owners were really nice, helpful and definitely made sure we felt comfortable beforehand and had a good time during our experience.
