The curriculum is impressive but the most important thing for our 8 month old is that the staff is nurturing. They give him so much love and it is clear he loves being there! The 'Ladybug Room' teachers are delightful and he lights up when he sees them. Dawn and Kristen are hands on and you can feel the love when you walk in the door. It stinks that I can't be with my son all day, every day, but I never question his safety and security when he is in KA's care. Highly recomend KA of OBT!

Every time we drive by, they excitedly wave out the window and yell, "Hi, Diana!" That alone speaks volumes about the love and care they've received. From day one, Diana made me feel completely at ease. Before her, I had never sent my children outside our home for daycare, so this was a huge leap of faith for our family. After meeting her and seeing her interact with my boys during a trial playdate, I knew they were in wonderful hands. I have never once felt nervous leaving them with her. Diana goes above and beyond in every way. She is an excellent communicator, keeps a daily journal of the children's activities for parents to read, and regularly sends home printed photos that have become treasured keepsakes for our family. She is consistently upbeat, patient, and brings so much positivity into her home each day. What makes Diana truly exceptional is that she doesn't simply supervise children - she genuinely engages with them. She thoughtfully plans activities, encourages learning through play, and creates an environment where the children build meaningful friendships and a true sense of community. My boys absolutely flourished in her care. I also deeply appreciate how responsible and attentive she is. During bad weather or power outages, she always reached out to check in with parents and keep us informed about how the children were doing. That level of care and professionalism meant so much to us. Our family's needs have changed now that our boys are starting school, but choosing to leave Diana has been bittersweet. The people at The Gardner School of Oakbrook Terrace have helped to raise our daughter to be the beautiful, smart, hilarious, creative, sweet little 5-and-a-half-year-old lady she is now. These women have changed her diapers, fed her nutritious meals, played with her, read to her, soothed her, encouraged her, loved her, taught her, shaped her, and helped her grow in every way possible. They've helped me be a better mom (& teacher, too). They've helped my husband in myriad ways as well. The teachers, administrators, and other staff are supportive and caring in all their interactions. The administrators were understanding whenever "life" happened and you needed to bend protocol to make all the things happen, whatever they might be. In our case, when our daughter was an infant, we actually pulled her out of TGS for a 6-month period because she was getting sick so often and so intensely. (Former preemie with low immune system plus she had the stereotypical childhood recurring ear infection.) When we decided we wanted to have her return, TGS welcomed us back with open arms. And...no matter what...every day during high traffic/morning drop-off/evening pick-up times, one of the administrators was there with a smiling face to greet parents and families at the front door. That meant more than it might seem on the surface. First of all, there were plenty of days where I blew into the building in quite a mood from my own long, trying school day with 100+ kids, but after I was greeted by a smiling Ms. Natalie, Ms. Jen, or Ms. Brittany and walked to my daughter's classroom, that interaction had managed to shift my focus to what kind of day my child had. Second, consistency is key with children and at TGS, it's demonstrated even in this area. Third, knowing you can count on that presence at a particular time makes it simple to plan quick verbal check-ins with TGS staff. The teachers were forever gracious about everything, including me dropping off incredibly late in the summer. :-P Enrichment teachers like Coach Janelle helped our daughter explore ballet, gymnastics, and theatre in a friendly, safe environment. We counted on Chef Nicole to prepare and serve tasty, healthy food several times a day every day & she always delivered. Most of all, we knew that daily our daughter's classroom teachers were doing absolutely amazing things, instilling in her a love of learning and an understanding of how school works... Ms. Angelika, Ms. Abbey, Ms. Tameka, Ms. Jessica, Ms. Angela, Ms. Jennifer, Ms. Cassi, Ms. Adriana, Ms. Ann, Ms. Anna, Ms. Lonnisha, Ms. Vanessa, Ms. Elyse: you are forever in our hearts. Beyond everything mentioned above, these women at TGS Oakbrook have always understood who our daughter is. That means they know what she responds well to and what she needs in order to feel safe, loved, & happy. It also means they knew what gaps needed to be filled and what she needed to work on. So at TGS, she has learned soooo much about how to be brave, to write, to play with friends (or to play alone when she's not feeling it!), to wash your hands at all the right times, to listen when others speak, ... Because of TGS Oakbrook and the women who work there, my daughter will walk into kindergarten at our neighborhood school the most prepared she could possibly be. And for that, we are forever grateful.

The teachers there are wonderful and so caring and it really shows with the kids. I came in at lunch to nurse my son for a while when he first went back and I would see him before he could see me and he was SO happy. The teachers there spend lots of time with the kids and really encourage a lot of activities. We looked at a lot of places and what stood out to us is that this place really encourages kids to be kids and to learn through play. A lot of the other places were structured and while that can be a good thing in small doses, I was the one going back to work and not my son. I also LOVE the fact that there isn't much technology there. If you check it out you will see that the teachers are playing with the kids or interacting with them, not on an iPad to send the hourly updates. Kids are encouraged to play and imagine for activities and it really shows when you walk around because the kids are all having fun and playing but all are very respectful. Even my parents mentioned how happy the kids all were and how much fun they were having when they picked up my son. I also like how it is independent. Decisions can be made without red tape. Miss Jeannine and Miss Nancy have always been so responsive and encouraging. I love that I can talk to them and they are always warm and welcoming. They also know every single child and parent there. I've gone to them for advice or to ask how things are going and they always have time for me. You just can't get that at many other places. It also works well for the bigger kids because they can organize fun activities for the kids and don't have to clear it with corporate in NJ or TX or wherever. The activities they do are so fun for the kids and so rewarding. To anyone looking for a daycare I cannot recommend this place enough. Take a tour and pay attention to the teachers and how much they care. Watch them as they play and interact with the kids. That's what sold us when I looked at it and they have exceeded my expectations. It is scary to think about sending your baby to daycare, but it makes it a lot easier to know you are handing him over to people that care for your guy or girl and they will be having fun with friends.
