It really is an accelerated type of course that teaches you the basic fundamentals of being an engineering technician taking you through so many lessons such as mechanics, electrical, automation, pneumatics, troubleshooting, blueprint reading, just to name a few. They really take you through so many subjects and it is up to you to figure out which subject you want to focus on. When you find out you let your staff and instructors know... they will lead you in the right direction I guarantee it. With this certification you can literally go to any industry and any related position to the course. It really is up to you whether you want to be an engineering technician developing medical devices or an electro-mechanical technician ensuring a production line is running... the possibilities are endless! The college provides hands on training and job placement which is excellent for people looking for opportunities when they come up by being prepared for the job market. This fun yet rigorous learning environment gives the students knowledge for everyday use. Palomar College Cabinet and Furniture Technology is one of the top woodworking schools in the…read morecountry. They offer classes and degrees for everything from wood carving and wood turning to cabinet and furniture making. They also have one of the best Guitar Making Technology certificate programs consisting of 9 classes and 26 units. The facilities and instructors are amazing. I love that each class is project-based, so you end each semester with an heirloom quality piece of woodwork. Palomar College CFT has their own lumber mill, and they partner with the city to turn tree waste into unique and usable lumber. That makes it the only place in the world where you can get specialty woods like Torrey Pine, and it's only available to students in the woodworking classes. The CFT100-Woodworking Fundamentals class is the pre-requisite for most of the other classes. Students usually build a pendulum or mantel clock for that class while learning woodworking basics along the way. I took CFT100 as a beginner and learned a ton, but even seasoned woodworkers have said that class is worth taking and learning the "right" way to do things. I can't say enough good things about the people running this program, from the instructors and teaching assistants to the fellow students, they are a joy to work with and learn from.

I completed keyboarding with Mrs. Schulthess in January and just finished Microsoft Word and Excel (Intermediate) last week (ending on 3/12/21) with Mrs. Enriquez. These classes may not be the Masters or Bachelors degree that most students try to complete, but these certifications are good to get your foot in the front door as my accounting certification did for me back in 2006, and without paying thousands (maybe even tens of thousands) of dollars. I look forward in a few weeks to starting and completing the Microsoft Word and Excel Advanced before summer.

Ken's teaching tactics prepare you for the national state exam. Every day in class, he gives you a quiz and goes over the answers you missed after taking the test. He believes failure and mistakes are the best teachers. After you complete the class lectures and didactics, Ken still allows you to come back and practice blood draws if you feel that you need more practice. He sets you up with externship with ease. There were negative reviews regarding how difficult it was during covid times. Not many places were open on those times, yet Ken still kept in touch with his students, and he found ways to make it work. Please take my word for it. This is a top-notch phlebotomy program. Ken's teaching skills, knowledge, fairness, and flexibility will not disappoint. His program will help you pass the state exam, sharpen your phlebotomy knowledge, and prepare you for a job.

I enrolled in the Phlebotomy Training Academy (PTA) 3-week course (held over 5 Saturdays) because it seemed like a quick and convenient way to complete phlebotomy training. Unfortunately, my experience has been very different from what I expected. I completed the course in August. The National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam was more difficult than the curriculum prepared us for. However, I did learn a lot during the course, especially from Alana, who was a fantastic instructor and very knowledgeable in her field. I passed the NHA exam in October and immediately began the externship placement process in November. This is where the majority of my issues began. The program primarily uses two externship sites: * Palomar Health - which currently has an extremely long waitlist for externship placement. * Sharp Rees-Stealy - which was restricted to "essential personnel only" and required additional background checks and drug testing. When they eventually responded about placements, they said they would only accept one student per month. Because of the long waitlists and restrictions, I chose a third externship option that required an additional $300 payment. This option was supposed to guarantee faster placement and allow students to complete the externship and obtain state certification within one week. I also attempted to pursue certification through other organizations, such as the American Red Cross, but I was unsuccessful in securing placement through those routes. I have called and emailed the school multiple times without receiving clear answers. I eventually went to the office in person, where Leah advised me to speak directly with Ken Gravley regarding placement, even though I had already been trying to reach him. When I finally spoke with Ken, he told me to stop by the office and bring cash or a check for the externship placement with Dr. Wong. This felt unusual because he told not only me but other students the same thing to place the cash or check in an envelope and leave it in his mailbox, with no receipt or proof of payment. We were told that at some point he would contact us with externship dates. This entire process has been a stressful and frustrating experience, especially while balancing work and personal responsibilities. I strongly recommend that future students carefully consider the potential challenges they may face when enrolling in this program. I have also reached out to several previous students who left 1-star reviews here and received responses from Ken. I plan to update this review based on whether those students were ultimately able to receive externship placement and obtain their certification. If students are unable to become certified after paying $1,995 for the program, that is a significant financial loss. Living in California is already expensive, and it is concerning to invest that amount of money in a program that may not provide the support needed to obtain certification as promised.

I should have known when the office workers changed so abruptly that the school was ill managed. Very little in class prep, no explanation of the process or what the steps are within the curriculum, basically you will receive a binder and you are on your own. I recommend going to Golden State or do your research for one that focuses on the student. All they care about is signing you up, getting your credit card and they will try to sell more and more products. Other schools will provide 24 hour access to practice tests, this company wants you to go into the school because they are afraid someone will steal their tests. They will provide online access to study materials, but for a short period of time so they can sell you more. Save your money and find a better school!

Under different circumstances I wouldn't care much to have to deal with Holly treating us like middle schoolers the entire course, but I paid over $2,000 for this course; in the least they could have competent professors.

The theory portion of the class was fast and somewhat vague at times but it all made sense once we got to the skilled nursing facility for our clinicals. My instructor was on the floor with us everyday during clinicals. The first day was a bit overwhelming but over time, I felt very comfortable interacting with patients and performing skills. By the end of the clinicals, my classmates and I felt more than prepared for our test. We were lucky that our state exam was scheduled the day after we officially finished the course. Everyone in my class passed!! Shoutout Ms. Lauren for being the best instructor!! This was such a great program and I would highly reccommend it to anyone looking to get certified or gain hands on experience/hours for PA/NP/Med School etc.!!
