Recently drove my Delonghi La Specialista over 2 hours to have Heinz repair our machine. It turned out to be exactly what Heinz said it was during our phone conversation. The repair was done in 3 hours as he said it would be and it was done for the price he said it would be as well. He even took the time to teach me things about my machine that I did not know after 2 years of owning it and using it daily. Heinz discovered two small additional issue while making the repairs and corrected them adding only a few dollars in parts to the bill. Finally, when I returned to pick up the machine 3 hours after dropping it off, it looked as clean as it did the day I bought it 2 years ago. Well done Heinz. On the phone "Heinz" appeared to know what he was talking about...He said what I wanted to hear, that the coffee maker was worth repairing at his approximately $225 estimate, $95 flat fee plus parts. Then he said something that I should have paused at hearing, "when shipping insure it for $1200." The coffee maker sells, refurbished, for $400 on ebay. Why insure it for so much? $273 dollars later he returned it. It was shiny but still broken. When we turned it on the steamer wasn't working and the machine reported "need to prime." The bean lid was also broken off. Heinz invoiced for grinder wheels, so I guess he broke the lid putting them in. We tried to prime it multiple times without success. When we called Heinz he deflected responsibility, which was weird after paying $273. Defying logic, he actually said the machine did work and that he only returned working machines. (Be suspicious of repair people who need to tell you they only return working machines, since, well, what else is a repair person supposed to do?) The only remedy he offered was that the grind needed adjusting. Bizarre. The unit wasn't making steam, and reported it required priming. It had nothing to do with adjusting the grind. We did it anyway, and it did not solve the problem. He was just trying to get us to beg off. Heinz didn't appear able or willing to understand that the machine didn't work, or he figured that if he kept telling us it worked we would stop bothering him. He did not offer any solution and refused to refund the money. We got Heinz name from the Saeco website. We're contacting Philips/Saeco corporate to report Heinz and request Saeco refund our money. We paid a lot of money to have this repaired. We thought that by paying a lot ($95 flat repair fee plus parts) we would get a good person and receive good service. Unfortunately we got Heinz. Definitely send your machine someplace else. I've been trying to understand what happened on this transaction...I'm speculating that Heinz drinks while he works, decided the problem was the grinder, threw one in, breaking the bean lid while doing it, didn't test the machine, wiped down the machine with alcohol or something to make it look shiny, and then returned the machine "fixed," hoping it would either work or we would drop the matter without calling. That's the most benevolent scenario I can come up with for Coffee Boss' bizarre and nasty behavior. We sent Heinz the machine because his was the closest facility to Atlanta and he sounded ok over the phone. In hindsight we should have sent our machine to a facility in New York or LA, where they do a lot of business and know the machines. Save yourself the money and unhappiness. read more

I had been meaning to write this review for a few weeks. I have had my delonghi magnifica repaired by Heinz on two occasions over about 10 years time. Most recently I dropped it off on a trip to florida intending to pick it up on my return. Heinz was there and insisted on repairing immediately setting aside his work. He had in top shape in 45 minutes including making a custom part for the grinder. He is amazing. As it turns out I am in Florida for much longer than anticipated due to a family emergency. I have two machines, One a Saeco and one a Magnifica. I was ready to throw the Magnifica out the window after it started to leak constantly. I sent an email inquiry and Heinz called me and spent a half hour talking me through the testing procedure to diagnose what was wrong and whether he could fix it or whether I could fix it myself. He did this for free. He fixed my machine and had it back to me in a week and it is working great! I sent the Saeco all the way to CA for the frother to be fixed, it was gone over a month, and it came back making weak coffee but good froth. I am sending that machine to Heinz read more

I own two Saeco Odea Go 'espresso' machines, both of which failed over the course of the last 4 years (one failed, bought a new one). I found this video re: diagnostic mode on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftOWLMhmpjU which helped me identify the problem with both machines as being in the grinder unit. I then searched and found this video which describes how to disassemble the Odea Go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKwxxUgQu7g&t=529s. I followed that with this video on the grinder mechanism: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSmUA52XN0Q. After disassembly, cleaning and reassembly, the grinder was still in failure mode. I live in N. Alabama, but found a reference to The Coffee Boss on a Phillips/Saeco website and gave them a call this morning at about 9:00AM CST. I spoke to the proprietor, Heinz. He was very easy to work with; he asked me to disassemble the grinder and call him back when I had the grinder motor in hand, stating he thought he knew what the problem was, even though all I could tell him it that 'it didn't work'. I called back about 11:30AM. He asked me to check two very small springs that connect the power lines to the motor's brushes. Sure enough, one wire was 'burnt' (1-2 amps @120V AC, very fine wire), failing to make proper electrical contact with the power source. Heinz suggested that I lengthen the connector by very carefully unwinding one turn of the spring. I was off the line in 20 minutes and it took about 20 minutes to follow the procedure he suggested. The coffee maker now works like new. I cannot state how happy my wife and I are with the service Heinz provided this morning, without charge, over the phone. I hope to be able to get to his shop some time in the future to express my gratitude in person, and provide some monetary compensation for his excellent and knowledgeable support. My DeLonghi Perfecta was in need of repairs and maintenance. Checked the DeLonghi website for a list of authorized repair centers and found The Coffeeboss. I packed up my machine, shipped it, and got it back better than new. They detailed my machine so nicely I couldn't believe it was mine! Repairs were done quickly and the price was very fair. Today, for the second time in the last five years, Heinz came to my rescue and solved a "difficult to diagnose" coffee machine problem over the phone. (Two of our daughters are staying with us over Christmas, and they are both expresso fanatics.) Yesterday, our machine quit grinding, and showed the dreaded "grinder blocked" error. After taking the machine apart and cleaning the grinder several times, to no avail, I gave up the called Heinz..... after normal business hours of course. He miraculously directed my attention to two small wires, which connect the motor electrical connectors to the brushes. Sure enough, one wire was burned away from the connector. He gave me very detailed instructions on how to fix the wire, and offered to mail me a new one if I couldn't. I don't know the background of the one-star review from Rob S. in 2016, but I see that my review is the tenth five-star one. Thanks Heinz! read more

Heinz has always been very good to my wife and I, so I was very turned off by the ridiculous one star review someone wrote below. I've known Heinz for nearly 8 years, when I first sent our $1300 DeLonghi Magnifica coffee maker to him. He was very helpful on the phone, trying to be sure the problem wasn't something minor we could fix on the phone before I shipped it to him. We jointly concluded I needed a new boiler. I shipped it too him, he repaired it at a reasonable rate, and sent it back to us. The negative reviewer's complaint about the cost of repairs is somewhat laughable...most of the expense for high end coffee machine repairs comes from parts, and the manufacturer sets those prices, not Heinz. Like any high quality product, parts are expensive. Heinz only charged us $85 to do the repair...the rest was parts cost and shipping. Here's exactly what we paid: Labor $85, Hot Water Boiler $125.50, Steam Valve $28.65, O-rings $9.00, S&H $35.20. Total $283.35. After the repair, the machine worked flawlessly for over 7 years. I think Heinz is terrific, and he does great work for a reasonable price. He's always willing to help on the phone too...he seems to care. He even had me check the number of cups my machine made over its life to see if it was worth spending money to have it repaired. That's pretty honest in my book. So, I would ignore the single one star review...its the only one star review out of 12, and ALL of the other's are five stars. That should tell you everything you need to know... I think some people are just angry, unhappy, or looking to get something knocked off the bill. read more

So my DeLonghi cappuccino machine stopped working one morning, about 2 months after the warranty expired. Since it was out of warranty anyway, I took it apart and found the problem--a defective heating element. After checking around, I found that I could order a replacement online, but it would cost $50 + shipping (my machine only cost $100) and would take about a month to ship. I called DeLonghi directly, but they were absolutely no help. Except that they did give me the number for The Coffee Boss. These guys, on the other hand, were excellent. They couldn't get the new part any sooner, but they checked the part number and had a non-working parts machine that had the same heating element. By the next morning they had taken the old machine apart, tested and cleaned the element, and shipped it that afternoon. Cost: $15 + $5.50 shipping. I mean, seriously, who sells a cheap used part when they could have sold me a new one? I'd have never known the difference. That tells me that they are honest. Who gets an order for a cheap used part taken care of that fast? That tells me that they are efficient. Conclusion: Three days after my machine broke, I have a working cappuccino machine and an awesome DeLonghi dealer! read more

I brought my 8 year old Saeco superautomatic in for repair (water from the reservoir was leaking) and I was strongly considering buying a new superautomatic. After Heinz quickly identified the problem, repaired my machine and made a few adjustments to fine tune its settings, he informed me that my Saeco was in great shape and that its grinder was of a better quality than many of the ceramic grinders being used in superautomatic machines today. After listening to Heinz's expert advice, I decided to keep my Saeco -- and six months later it continues to run better than ever. Heinz and his wife were great. I really appreciate his honest approach to providing his customers with expert service, fast turnaround and helpful suggestions -- not to mention his very reasonable repair charge.
