What a debacle of security and cucked customer service. The following is a copy of the complaint I…read moresent via the website feedback form, with which i checked the box for a response. Approximately 3 weeks later I have had no response so a phone call 3 days ago got the ball rolling with which I have procured your email address from Matt in Security Services who kindly called me back. A following call from security (after them sneakily checking my profile out on LinkedIn to ascertain if I had enough clout for them to be bothered at all). They refuse to talk about this by email or put the incident in writing. So I will. And more. I had arrived back on the gold coast as I live primarily in Sydney/ NYC and had decided to show my new English girlfriend the casino and to have drinks at Nineteen as a way of extolling the virtues of us eventually living back in Mermaid Beach. Having posed for photos and picking her up in a hug we walked to the gaming area where naturally we were stopped by Giuseppe, as she is a very young looking 21 year old (I am in my 30's.) While asking for her passport I - in good mood and curiosity with no sarcasm or malevolent itonation - asked why the casino was so quiet on a friday night. With this, Giuseppe's demeanor changed and asked me how much I had to drink that night. Blinking, I honestly answered I had a rum and coke at the family dinner table with the GF and my elderly mother. Approximately 2 hours ago. He then said he asked that because I was "walking funny" on my way to the casino entrance. I said, bemusedly, it was because I was in love, and had picked the gf up for a photo pose and that I was happy to take a breathalyzer to prove i was sober. His eyes squinted and gave imitations to admonishing me in a virtual finger wagging. He said no, and made notions that he, on his discretion, might let me in but then said words to effect "If I catch you drinking inside" that I would be caught, and thrown out. I was completely flabbergasted at this, stunned, and to say caught out of left field would be an understatement. I said I would like to complain and speak to the manager on this. It just so happened that someone called Ken, an appropriately imposing fellow to my own height was walking past, and Giuseppe huddled off with him away from me to give him his side of the story. Eventually Ken walks back to me and explained again what Giuseppe had said, and I repeated my story again, saying I would be more than happy to take a breathalyzer, that I had just consumed one alcoholic beverage 2 hours ago, and had driven from our house in mermaid beach to the casino to show her the casino. Ken THEN alluded to me being - i'm facepalming while I write this - aggressive (!) with him in the conversation, making me think i was on the set of a candid camera episode, or movie like "Anger Management" where Adam Sandler is talking normally while the flight steward says "Sir, please stop yelling". Ken then said he could, again forgive my needing to express exasperation and incredulity - he said he could smell alcohol on my breath! While I said I could breathe out more to give him a better test, or use a breathalyzer, which he declined, I then gave big exhalation to my girlfriend who confirmed she couldn't smell any alcohol. He then mentioned "Your eyes are very red". Yeah buddy. I know. I wear contact lenses full time for a whole month. It cuts off air supply to the occular area. I've been maliciously and libellously defamed by this to a whole Strata Roll on an investment property on this by another ignoramus and I should have sued but, well, I can only sue someone every 18 months as these things take up too much of my time. Perhaps I can give my shares a bump if you circulate this informational website with your staff so they can discern "is it inebriation or irritated eyes" : https://www.verywellhealth.com/red-eyes-and-contacts-3421657 nB! They HAVE A BREATHALYSER in the garage the liars! I could have gone and blown into it to prove my sobriety! Spend your hard earned coin elsewhere; like any casino, the house always wins. You are chattel cattle for them and their security team's ego. Don't forget the experiments where the prison guards end up tyrants. Review continues in pictures:

Nice one darling hotel. This would not happen in any other casino in the world. Maybe you should your practices. Gary

All we listened to was motorbikes dragging along the strip all night. When we tried to move, management blew us off. Next, we discovered that our room had no electricity. Then no TV. Most calls to reception were ignored. The family in 1302 made so much noise they could have powered the entire building with their energy. I've been screwed before, but never this hard. As another unhappy guest said, "Welcome to the Inn of the Damned!"

Breakfast for instance - was a little underwhelming with the choices. Housekeeping was a hit or miss. Also, parking was horrible to accommodate a property this large. But onto the positives - views from the balcony are breathtaking. You can see the beach and the sunset/rise - million dollar views. Staff is nice - they also have a coffee shop/eatery downstairs that serves decent coffee and cocktails. Also the decor is lovely inside.

We entered after checking in and drove around for 20 mins or more waiting for a spot, you have to follow people leaving the shops to their cars to get their spot. It's also very tight and cramped, a few times I had to reverse as too narrow dead ends for three point turns. Other guests were doing the same. Dented and scratched my car on a tight turn - my fault of course but don't bring a large SUV / car. Smoking is not allowed on balconies, however our balcony had used cigarette butts littering it from previous occupants. Supposed to be able to cast from devices to TV but it didn't work (code on TV rejected). Room okay otherwise, beds comfortable. Pool is okay for adults don't recommend for kids. We went for a swim at about 4pm after arrival and the spa was full of adults drinking alcohol (it's a licensed premises). Sign states no glass drink containers yet they had glass bottles. Sign says no jumping from spa to pool, but kids (and one parent!) were doing it anyway. Needs maybe a fence along edge of spa, one where adults in spa can still supervise through. Exterior looks a bit run down. Lifts are odd, to go from room to car park you take lift to lobby level then change lifts to go down one more level. Buffet breakfast was good. We'd originally booked this as a family of four under my husbands name. He became ill so we postponed our stay and were given credit. Later he passed away. I called to rebook for us three and it had to stay booked in his name, but was assured a note was made in the system that I would be checking in and why. When checking in the staff said the names were different so I explained. He checked and then said there was a note saying yes, I was checking in, and not to ask why. Then he wanted to charge for the room, and I had to get him to check again so he could see the credit. He apologised and I get it, I just really didn't want to be in the lobby explaining my husband was dead...again.
