We couldn't be in the shop at the same time though so that made the experience significantly less special but I guess covid... But we both noticed that Ryan was super heavy handed immediately. We both have many tattoos & kind of know what to expect/feel. He then did the "hot press" technique after he was done & that was new. If you don't know, they get a bunch of paper towels covered with super hot water and put it over the tattoo to basically "cauterize" the tattoo. Then I asked for second skin & he said he didn't offer it because he was allergic... Didn't make much sense. My sister & I both have had a horrible time with the healing process. Scabs that are bigger than usual & taking the color with it when it falls off. We wash it daily & put a light layer of aquaphor on it 1-2x daily. We're not saying that this shop isn't good but we've definitely been to better & wouldn't recommend it to our friends.

Unfortunately my tattoo didn't turn out great and instead of taking responsibility the blame was put on me and my skin. I have 20+ tattoos and followed after care protocol, stayed out of the sun, no swimming etc. Also, touch ups are $100 just a heads up. This was not communicated until after I reached out about a touch up. Most tattoo shops do complimentary touch ups so I would recommend looking elsewhere. (Edited: touch ups are $105)

I've gotten two big tattoos from Delong, and--though it takes a lot to not want to kill someone who is repeatedly stabbing you and rubbing your skin raw for 7 hours while your arm is twisted behind your back--it's a testament to Delong's "chairside manner" that left me walking out of there in a tired but good mood with my favorite tattoos. I get constant complements on these from random strangers. It's not the reason I got them, but it sure reinforces my impression of money and time well spent. I will be going back for extensive and continued work in the future. If you like actual good tattoos at a fair price, I would recommend you do the same. It's worth the drive.
