I am at The collection multiple times a week and it's a great addition to Oxnard. So many things to do and I love how clean it's kept. There are different happy hours at different shops. I think you can find affordable or more fine dining options as well. There's something for everyone! Oh and so many events. Not sure I'd be back for The Christmas tree lighting though because it was a madhouse.. it was cool to see though. There's just way too many people. I haven't had a bad experience. We've driven by The Collection many times, but it looked kind of small, so we never thought to stop. With nothing really planned today, we took the scenic drive from SCV to Oxnard to finally explore this outdoor mall and have lunch. Very well-maintained and thoughtfully designed, it turned out to be a great experience! There's a good number of stores of different sizes to shop and browse, Target, Century Theaters, Bowlero, park/playground, community areas with games, restaurants and food court. After our lunch we decided to sit at the park area to enjoy the cool cloudy day while watching kids roll around in the grass, people with their dogs and families engaging with each other. After that and some shopping, we ended up spending more time that we expected to. There's more than enough parking all around the mall and in the Target structure. We plan on visiting more often. read more

It has really fun and playful things to see all around The Collection at Riverpark in Oxnard, and walking through it felt almost like stepping into a little outdoor world that was made to keep you curious the whole time. The place feels really lively and exciting in a way that teenagers would enjoy a lot because everywhere you look there is something happening with people hanging out, music drifting from different stores, bright colors from the shops, and that warm open air feeling that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. I noticed right away that there were a lot of teenagers there just walking around with their friends, taking pictures, getting snacks, and enjoying the freedom of having so many things to do in one spot. What surprised me the most was how easy it was to have fun there without needing to spend a lot of money or rush from one thing to another. Even just sitting outside near the fountains or the little seating areas felt relaxing and playful at the same time. The decorations and the way the whole place is designed make it feel almost like a small town inside a shopping center which is perfect for teenagers who love taking fun photos or just exploring a place that feels safe and welcoming. I did not realize how much there was to enjoy there until I walked around and saw how many different stores, restaurants, and hangout spots were tucked into the area. I really appreciated how comfortable it felt to just wander around without feeling pressured to buy anything. The atmosphere made it easy to enjoy the moment and I never doubted that the experience was going to turn out the way I hoped it would. I only visited The Collection Riverpark one time in my life before making this review but it left a strong impression on me because of how lively and youthful the whole place felt. It reminded me of the kind of environment where teenagers can feel creative, social, and free to be themselves. It was one of the most enjoyable and energetic outdoor shopping areas I have been to in a long time and I would highly recommend that even teenagers go there because it gives them a place to have fun, take pictures, walk around with their friends, and feel inspired by everything happening around them. read more

I find myself at the collection more and more nowadays and I'd happily admit I'm so glad Oxnard has this shopping center and eatery off the 101 freeway. I remember when it was being built and it's so nice to see its expansion over the years. The collection is home to many great eateries, plenty of shopping and also its own movie theater and grocer. I love the Whole Foods here best compared to any Whole Foods within 45 minutes of me. It's impressive that they have maintained their local big brand retailers like Target, Whole Foods, REI, Lazy Dog Cafe and Cheesecake Factory to name a few. The collection is the hub for action - a space shared by all ages and cultures. Oxnard had badly needed something like this and I'm happy to see it thriving. The grounds here are well maintained and I appreciate the use of fountains, murals/art and nice grassy park space. It's a wonderful place for kids - just watch them on the streets and parking lots. It's a walkable shopping center and outdoors which is perfect for our California weather. Love that we also have the annex food hall here. So many great spots to stop and it's ever changing and growing. I'm a fan of the collection and have seemed to have found my sweet spot where I know when to come to avoid the crowds and to catch happy hour. Just went to Zumiez ! To buy a bikini set and the manager with piercing on his face and tattoos. Mind you I was just buying a bikini top and bottoms! and the total was like over 100$ so I had said no to the bottoms. And the manager called basically made a side comment/joke " broke " just cause I said no to the bottoms but I was still buying the top. I just feel that's very disrespectful and uncalled for. That dish alone could fix a bad day. Yard House? A staple. Its menu reads like a passport--Mexican, Italian, Thai, American--all in one place. GETTING HERE: I would recommend exiting the Oxnard Blvd. offramp off the 101 freeway in Oxnard. REVIEW: What's not to love about the Collection? I used to have to drive to L.A. to get the feels that I now receive here. The lights (at Christmas time); the movies; the restaurants, etc. All the things. There might be an argument to be had about the (now) dying Ventura Mall b/c of the Collection, but times, they are a changing. The Collection includes: shopping, eating, entertainment, what else could you want? :-) Cough, cough, the economy, cough, the value of wares could be up for discussion, but the selections of places to shop is outstanding, IMO. I usually park either at the end (near the Theater) or the area near Lazy Dog and then walk on over. I would venture that you can literally find all that you need on this one location. It's quite nice, tbh, and the vibe is leaps and bounds different from even the Outlet Mall in Cam. I can only make it out here on weekends and a select few evenings. Just a PRO TIP: it does get very busy out here so just be sure to plan your drive time accordingly (esp. if you're going to see a movie). Definitely recommend The Collection. I just want to warn other parents about bringing their children to see "Santa" here. I approached the head elf, Julia, and requested that she let Santa know we have a young child who was losing his belief this year after seeing some Christmas movies. He has a lot of questions so my husband and I decided we would get there and ask the team if they could help us out. I asked her if she could give Santa a list to pull from his pocket with two items on it for each of my kids. Elf Julia and the other ladies there seemed very happy to help us with this matter and maybe get a couple more years of magic for our youngest son. Ran out to grab my hubby and kids from the car and returned two minutes later. Stood there while the last family before us was having their experience and as my kids were told they could go up to see Santa, elf Julia walked up to me right in front of my kids and made it very apparent she was telling me something they shouldn't hear. She told me Santa was too old to read and wouldn't be reading from my card (which was written in large bold writing). She said either she could give it to my kids or hold on to it. The whole point was for my kids to think Santa already received their letter and had what they wanted on his list. How complicated is this really? Very apparently. Thanks Elf Julia! Merry Christmas and thanks for destroying the magic. It's not that the Santa team didn't want to entertain this situation or help, it's the fact that Elf Julia said no problem and then changed her mind RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY SEVEN YEAR OLD. Then she had the nerve to tell me she didn't appreciate my "tone" when I thanked her for ruining Christmas for our family. My husband was speechless at the audacity. I never raised my voice to her. Never said a foul mouthed word to her. She was sure to remind me that we were the only family left in line that they were being nice to "fit in" before their lunch break. They weren't busy. A single family in front of us and nobody behind us waiting. PARENTS ....DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN HERE!!! And to management....Please hire adults who have demonstrated they understand the importance of what they're doing for little children when they take this position. If Santa can't do the basics of reading two toys from a list per child that he is presented with, maybe he doesn't qualify for the position. Pretty basic. The other ladies there were kind and you could see were uncomfortable with the way the head elf handled this situation. To say it was handled poorly would be kind. Julia the elf sucks. She shouldn't be allowed to be around little children. She doesn't have a clue. Santa is supposed to be a magical experience for young kids and she destroyed our Christmas when all she had to do was say a couple of toys in Santa's ear to repeat. Couldn't be more disappointed. Wish we had taken them elsewhere. Do better management. Figure out a better interview process because Julia and Santa (whom my eldest son told me apparently forgot to remove his tongue ring before coming to work...that he can do. Read? This Place installed parking meters just to make money out of shoppers, City of Oxnard made a big mistake by allowing this; the minimum is $2 dollars. Can you imagine making a quick stop to Starbucks just to get a cup of coffee and on top of your $ 3.25 Drink you pay also $ 2 dollars, so you are gonna ended up spending $5.25. Your Quick stop to Starbucks is probably 10-15 minutes but you still gotta pay no matter what cause there is private security guards patrolling like hawks giving infraction tickets. read more

My friend and I had an extremely distressing experience at the "Annex" food hall, which compelled me to share our ordeal. We were falsely accused and assaulted by a security guard named Andrew, and the subsequent treatment by his supervisors and the management was utterly unacceptable, which proved the statement "a fish rots from the head down." While I use cannabis for medical reasons due to my health condition, I consumed it responsibly outside the premises, but I carried a butt in my sweatpants until I saw a trashcan, so my pocket smelled like those ashes, and my friend, actually smelled like "Chanel". Despite this, Andrew aggressively confronted my friend, accusing us of smoking in the public restroom without any basis. When I turned around to confront him, once I felt from my back that I was being chased he would not speak to me, because he was too busy intimidating my 5 ft tall friend, so I had to call the police and make a report. My attempts to engage in a conversation were met with intimidation, as Andrew yelled and puffed his chest at my friend, even spitting during his tirade. I was calling the police, when another patron intervened to protect my terrified friend from Andrew's aggressive behavior because it seemed like he was about to hit her. The security guard got scared of the man and called for a backup, and the supervisors arrived. Still, instead of showing empathy for my innocent, crying friend, (while I was busy talking to the police, having tremors, getting migraines, trying not to faint because the distress triggers my disability), they assumed guilt without proper investigation. They said, " You, girls, could avoid it by just leaving." first, I'm not a girl; I am a grown woman in my 30s. Second, his Andrew attacked us at the bathroom door and continued chasing and screaming even after we left the premises, so there was no way for us to avoid what he'd done to us. What's more troubling is the lack of an apology or any form of accountability from the management. The security guard's supervisor Mr. Mosones attempted to gaslight me, claiming an investigation showed we smoked in the restroom. However, when questioned about the evidence, he blamed the cleaning lady, creating further confusion. I contacted the cleaning lady's supervisor, who denied any accusations from his department's employees and assured me that Andrew acted on his own behalf. The lack of concern and truthfulness from the supervisors, including the operation director, was disheartening. The operational director's dismissive attitude, stating he's "trying to get rid of Andrew, the ef else do you want?" was unsatisfactory. Their response, especially from the director, left me with the impression that there was a failure to acknowledge and address the inappropriate behavior of their security personnel. In the aftermath, I discovered that Andrew's misconduct is repeating and has the role of a litmus test indicating a failure in the management's responsibility. I have a disability involving chronic pain, and while I lack the health and energy to pursue legal action, it's crucial to highlight the disastrous management at the "Collection." For future improvement, I recommend the management: 1. Screen employees more thoroughly to avoid hiring individuals with obvious mental instability. 2. Take accountability for their employees' actions, as avoiding responsibility only exacerbates the issue. 3. Refrain from gaslighting and victim-blaming patrons who have experienced misconduct by security personnel. 4. Consider adopting a more responsible approach to liability by offering apologies and compensation for damages in line with the standards of civilized countries and states. I hope sharing this experience brings attention to the need for positive change and accountability at the "Collection." P.S. These are the business cards of people who were supposed to be there for us in this situation, but they chose not to be held accountable and showed an insulting, negligent attitude toward us. read more

There is a lot of parking, it's really hot during the summer time, but there are a lot of stores and a very large food court. We enjoyed all the choices and the food court and the people there were really nice, especially when I asked for help after my son vomited near the tables. We later ended up bringing our food outside to eat in some shade and it was really fun. Highly recommend, a nice place to stop by on your road trip off the freeway. read more

The Collection at RiverPark reminds me of the Victoria Gardens area in Rancho Cucamonga, with its open air feel. The literal collection of restaurants, shops, a multiplex, garden areas, and water features makes for a pleasing visual mix. Getting around takes a bit of fore-knowledge or a mapping program, but we managed to find where we needed to go. The previous time we'd been was early in the development of the extended complex. We'd come to the movie theater, which was shiny bright and new at the time. Dear Hubby was turned off by the need to pay for parking, and clunkiness of having to figure out how much to pay when attending a movie. He vowed to stay away for a time as a result. I heard that they may have rescinded parking fees in the structure, but I don't know that for sure. When we parked to attend a Yelp Event, we caught a metered spot close to our destination. That was fortuitous, as I had injured my foot the day before and walking any distance was painful. I understand there are several free parking lots around the perimeter. On a different day, when I'm not hobbling, I'd like to come back and stroll through the various streets to see what all is here. Architecturally, first impression was favorable, with a mix of styles that still hangs together. I think it's a great asset to Ventura County to have a new-style community space like this with close proximity to the freeway, but a feeling of being set back from it. I'm glad to report that my skepticism when the complex began has been won over by the reality of the finished product! read more

I'm going to cut right to, this place is disgustingly overcrowded. The city of Oxnard does not give one single you know what about population density, crime, city planning, road safety, and any other quality of life issue. The only thing Oxnard cares about is money. The amount housing and specifically crammed-in 5+ flooring apartments that have gone up in the Riverside and Wagon Wheel areas is truly sickening. There are daily thefts from residents of the area, there have been MULTIPLE SHOOTINGS at The Collection, the underground parking for Target is the best place to park if you want your vehicle vandalized. Good luck getting safely in and out of the parking lot without some mouth-breather dinging your car. Nothing here is enjoyable to do because everything is a fight. Fight for parking, fighting for a spot in long lines, have to argue with the poor over-worked staff at any business here. Whole Foods, Target, Cheesecake Factory are all bursting at the seems. Oxnard just keeps adding more and more apartments to the area. This place is a nightmare, too to bottom unenjoyable shopping experience. I hope this type of building and city "planning" never spills over into Ventura or Camarillo. May god be with you if you attempt to visit I this cesspool on a weekend. read more

June gloom but warmer than usual, the light jackets we all wore stayed in the car. Busy Saturday lunch hour and this destination was buzzing with busy-ness. When cars fail to stop at the signs that's a sign in itself (maybe watch the road instead of the phone?) I've been to the Whole Foods 47 times but never realized one of my fav restaurants is in this center (Los Agaves). Get your business completed early, this place gets obnoxiously busy on regular days, you can imagine what it's like during Christmas. Careful in the parking lot, make sure drivers see you. Nice place for a stroll, music playing everywhere...but go early to avoid crowds (unless they tickle your fancy). Easy in and out just off the 101, and easy to get back on the 101 when you've had enough. Normally the wind picks up here so don't be surprised if you need a light jacket even in the summer. read more

There are some really good options for dining such as Gen Korean BBQ, Lazy Dog & EMC Seafood, etc. There is also a Gap, REI & a big Target location on the 2nd level that we had to buy essentials from. There is plenty of parking near Target but there is some parking issues closer to where most of the restaurants are. It gets really crowded, as you can imagine, on the weekends but what popular place that has everything doesnt? I like the layout. It's a big grid and easy to navigate and NOT too big too walk around. Heard about this outdoorsy mall, and after a nice Sunday in Oxnard, my favorite city in California, decided to go with the wifey and check it out, around 3pm on a windy sunny April Sunday. The entrance virtually off the freeway is quite intimidating....I've never seen more vehicles cramming into and funneling towards the covered parking lot. It looked like a concert flow, insanely crowded. I can't imagine how the summers are gonna be like. Its the post-Covid explosion; people people everywhere. Nabbing a sole handicap spot open all the way outside in the corner in front of the open parking lot/strip mall that was completely full too (with a few stores like Red Robin and a pizza place, bank etc.) walked just a minute to get into the 2 or 3 rows of shops spiraling left and right. Besides the parking nightmare, really enjoyed the many eating options, and will come back to try since already ate lunch. They have a Brazilian BBQ (dinner only) a cool Italian style Pizzeria, couple Mex Cantinas that looked terrific, and just about anything else you want food wise. Lazy Dog is in front looked great and would love to try once. Shops are nice too, Forever 21, Container store (which couldn't find lol) Whole Foods, Cheesecake Factory, sitting area with food courts and novelty foods, and Target. Would be nice to have an ice cream shop. That Afters shit isnt cutting it for me. Crowd is a diverse mix but mostly 16 to 25 it seems. Hey, it's Ventura don't expect supermodels. One impossible thing that you cannot experience even in Beverly Hills, I didn't see ONE homeless person or junkie. I was shocked. Horribly loud cars pass by on occasion drilling your eardrums a new asshole, per the L.A. usual. I'm surprised that with all the time that I spent here in the past 2 years, I haven't wrote a comprehensive review about my experiences. Really?! My bad. Shoot, where do I start... I do have to admit that it was super cool getting to watch this place be built and to see the results of it today. The concept of this shopping center has truly made Oxnard what it is today and if it wasn't for The Collection, there would be nothing Oxnard would be known for except the strawberry festival (just my opinion, don't get all offensive ;D) Anywho, I'm such a fan of outdoor shopping centers, which best describes The Collection. Here you will find stores like: Target, H&M, REI, Charming Charlie, Gap, a few other boutique/shops and Victoria Secret (coming soon). Along with those many stores, The Collection has a handful of yummy places to grub and grab a drink: YardHouse, Stetebello, Gen Korean BBQ, Lazy Dog and Whole Foods. I have to say, I found myself at YH at lease 5x a month, it was such an easily place to meet up with friends and gave a good ol' time :) Parking lots surround the shopping center, and during the day parking meters are on and line the sidewalks. I believe $0.25 buys you 10-15 minutes, so you might was well save a little by parking in one of the lots and walking in. P.s. Security horrible , saw three fights all they did was record on video. Shops , basic brands with nothing interesting. Streets , hard to drive when parentless kids popping wheelies and coming close to hitting your bumper. read more

Wonderful Mall Nice outdoors great selection of shops I love all the artwork around the mall, bowlero just opened which is awesome haven't gone yet I definitely recommend shopping here if you want somewhere that's not enclosed and the food annex has all local food yum! They also have a target forever 21, H&M and container store never been there either. I also love the boba place called just Boba super good. read more

Dear Collections, Thanks for giving Oxnard somewhat of an upgrade... With more gastronomical, commercial dining experiences ... Bringing in a Whole Foods, to spend my whole paycheck on gourmet food... Watch a movie in a high budget theater (has assigned seating) or channel my inner Picasso at the Painted Cabernet. But, I admit, I do feel a bit foolish to spend $$ to pay a restaurant to cook my own meal ...as I could practice being the next Top Chef at home -Gotta admit, those Koreans are business savvy! Don't have to hire a high-end chef at Gen Korean BBQ. Anyhow, I no longer have to travel to Ventura, Camarillo, or Santa Barbara area for nightlife experiences, but can stay right in my hometown for some fun...
