I came here looking for snacks, and Five Below did not disappoint. Some big name snacks, and some off-the-wall snacks. Novelty drinks, stationary, toys, basic clothing and sports equipment. Not everything was $5 or less today though. I guess that's the state of things. I ended up buying a big bag of mostly candy for $31. Some for me and some as quirky gifts for friends. Self-checkout was easy. Overall the store was clean and well-stocked, though a little messy/disorganized. Some stuff, especially in the candy "bins" was not in the right bins, which makes the prices confusing. One of the candies I bought, I thought it was going to be $4 but it was $2.50. And a toy I bought, I had no indication of price at all, and it turned out to be $4. Their stock changes regularly so it's fun to just check in every so often to see what they have. And if you see something you're interested in, it's a good idea to buy, as it may not be there the next time you visit. Staff I talked to were polite and professional. The customer service in this store is atrocious. I came in to pick up an order for my disabled mother since she cannot come in on her own. I let the woman at the counter know I am there with an order and have an order # in hand. She calls Monique over. I walk up to Monique with order number in hand and she doesn't even make eye contact and continues to walk away from me towards the counter to discuss with the cashier. Alright, I follow her up and let her know and am slammed with an attitude "do you have an ID?" And I said "well I'm picking up this order for my mother" and before I can even finish my sentence she rudely exclaims she cannot give me an order without an ID. I explain my mother is bed ridden and I have an order number and she refuses. I get my mother on the phone and magically Monique is able to provide the order after discussing it with her store manager. On top of that, she states "you need to be nice" after I asked her for the corporate number. She gave me the number to IT support. Pulled out a giant binder with tons of numbers in big bold writing I could read from 4' away and still couldn't give me the correct contact number. Unsure if that was on purpose or if she was feeling extra unprofessional. Last week we had a similar interaction when purchasing items labeled $5 and charging for $7 or more. We asked the cashier to fix the price because it is clearly labeled on the sticker with the SKU $5. Manager did not want to come talk to us, leaving the cashier awkwardly having to state the manager wasn't coming and he'd have to charge us $7 for a sticker that says $5. We had to ask him 3 times to get the manager up to the front and he finally came. Was not willing to fix all the prices so those items were left behind read more

The store is A MESS! Boxes carts you name it, everywhere . Anyways, this review is for their poor practice and misguided training. Upon checking out, the trainer is telling a new member that even we check out...to automatically fill the survey out for the customers and select 9...the highest / best score. She did it before I had a chance to and I told her I could've and should've did that because what if it wasn't a 9 - she shrugged her shoulders and said "it is now". I said that's bad practice, she said it's a habit. All that to say - if you want to leave an honest review ; your best bet is here or trying to move quick and ring up yourself cause they're lying on their store / performance . Smh read more

I was made to feel so uncomfortable. Two employees (one being a manager) stared me down the whole time I was there. The other employee followed me and pretended to act busy. A joke. So absolutely rude. I then used the restroom and set the products I was trying to purchase outside because...well the obvious and they took it and put it back knowing damn well I went to the bathroom. I heard them talking while I was in there. I guess it's hard to whisper though when you're a man pretending to be woman. Gross. Will not go back. read more

I just like this store. Come on, $5.00 or less?? I can go in and get some new books, and art supplies, and come out with change. Plus this is going to be a great place to buy the kids new games. Moviegoers have a huge selection of popular name brand snacks, chocolates and candies. The targeted demographics of this chain are females, teens, adolescents and children. This is a discount store, hence customer service is not a priority therefore adjust your expectations accordingly. read more

Disappointing customer service. Went in today on a friday evening and the store was not busy. i walked up to pay and the cashier was busy talking to a male co worker, they both did not turn to see if there was customers waiting. so i walked up to see if they would acknowledge me. the girl turned slightly and started ringing me up while still talking to her co worker. it sounded like they were complaining about a customer return. very tasteful and classy right? anyway not once was i greeted or thanked or was asked about my experience. i guess i had high standards for a new store in oxnard, but this place hired rude kids that probably make minimum wage and are bitter about working. i will not be returning. i'd rather buy cheap trinkets on Ebay and not have to deal with the staff. read more

The staff here is unethical by every stretch of the imagination. Let's start with the last visit: as I was checking out an employee ran up to the pin pad and selected the "satisfied" option before I scanned my first item. Pretty lousy way of impressing your leadership team by cheating to boost survey scores. I called the next day and asked for a manager and some guy picked up after I was on hold for 20 minutes and said "hello what do you need." That's service at it's best, completely understandable why they have to cheat by pushing the high score option on their pin pads when the employees are absolutely terrible. read more

I have always liked Five Below. The only issue I've had is with customer service on previous trips. Sadly you are lucky if you get a "hello" upon entering. My boyfriend and I came in a few days ago and were amazed at the positivity and charisma that shined from a employee named Chris (shaved head and glasses) He was so helpful and checked on us during our shopping experience. He even started a light conversation about my boyfriend's hat. Chris had such a refreshing attitude it changed our entire day! read more

Today I went in to look around. I walked in and immediately the lady at the cash wrap shouted MAAM YOU NEED A MASK! And I replied oh I need one here? Because every store is different on wearing one if you have health conditions that make it hard for you. So i said okay and I put my home made mask on. She then said MAAM IT HAS TO COVER YOUR NOSE! I replied yes, it is covering my nose. I went to walk down the isle and was looking around when she came up to me and told me I had to leave the store because my mask wasn't two layers. I said well ok let me put in another one since I had two. She said NO YOU CAN STILL BREATHE WITH THEM ON! I said okay well I have underlying conditions and I cannot wear one for too long, do you have one for me to wear that meets your requirements? She said no told me a few of her employees also have underlying conditions but they're forced to wear masks and asked me to leave. I told her I wouldn't leave because it's not fair that she was only following me and harassing me. There were about 5 other people in the store and she didn't ask to see any of their two layers of masks. I had my three small children with me and they were pretty freaked out at this point because she kept saying she was going to call security and the police. I told her that was fine and I would explain to security when they came. I got two items and walked to the check out to pay and she immediately told her co worker "DO NOT RING HER UP"!!! I said can I please pay for my two items? I even put on my sweatshirt from my waist over my nose and mouth and she told me no because it was not a mask and she was refusing me service. I said she was very mean and she was bullying me. It was the most horrible thing I've ever experienced in customer service. Never in the entire year of the virus have I ever been told my mask was not good enough to go into a store with. I'm totally confused as to why she singled me out a mom with 3 kids just trying to pick up a couple gifts for them. read more

Just tried going to this location it was about 8:40pm when I walked up to the door and it was locked? The store does not close until 9pm.....hmmmmm so the girl comes up to the door saying it's a cash register issue which was BS they were still checking out a line of people and I sat in my car as they checked the rest of the customers out. I think whoever the manager and the staff were that are working tonight just locked the doors just cause it was almost closing time which is unacceptable on all levels 2min or 5 min before closing I can understand but a whole 20min that's just BS and unprofessional and lazy customer service. I love this store have been to other locations but this one is now has left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Came across this store while walking around the Esplanade shopping center and I immediately fell in love. It's pretty much an upgraded dollar tree/99 cents store. Everything was organized and in place and the sales associates were friendly and helpful. They have everything from kids toys, exercise equipment, hair/beauty, electronics, snacks/candy, misc items like cute tote bags and what not. Definitely will be coming back! read more

I finally made it to this store and was very surprised. Its huge and has such a great variety. Some things seem expectedly cheaply made but for the most part the items are fun & useful. The candy station with little bags is a lot of fun. One of the coolest things was a stand by the front door with a bunch of huge swimming rings already filled and ready for the pool. Speaking of pools we bought a small blow up and when we paid the cashier offered to fill it for us. Yes please. I was not looking forward to blowing that up.
