Their maintenance staff, while compentent in most basic areas, doesn't know much about the physical aspects of the apartments- 'are those things you painted over sprinklers?' 'No, no sprinklers.' Five years later- 'We can't complete the repairs until we can get someone to repair the sprinklers.' Really? Some things they just REFUSE to deal with. The bathtub needs to be recaulked... they come after two plus YEARS and caulk over the old broken caulk without removing the old caulk or even CLEANING the area, so within a month it was cracked and allowing ants to crawl in from the walls again. While we're on the subject of the bathtub- creepy-crawlies crawl in through improperly sealed areas around the faucet areas- 'oh, they just came in from outside, besides it's dead.' Thanks for that. Let's not forget the murder. This is most relevent because the management company actively removed ANY fliers requesting information if anyone saw anything within less than 24hrs of them being posted- including the ones in the common areas. The management company cares little for it's residents (and that is being generous). They have proven they don't care about threats, both internal and external. In truth, I'm even afraid to post this review for fear of further retribution, but this place is dangerous.

They have not spent a single minute serving on the condo board or doing anything else to to improve the community. I've made some wonderful friends here, thanks in part to my husband's tireless involvement with the condo board (he served as President for over 12 years). You get what you give, folks. Something to keep in mind when you're living in a community. I love it here. Walking distance to grocery stores, Costco, the library, and the mall, to name a few. My view in the morning of the particular unit that would be available was just that- overlooking the parking lot. It also appeared that there was a lack of diversity in both culture and ages. But that could had been the timing of my tour. On the plus side, they do offer community events for tenants to mingle. That I thought was a big plus. Maintenance took care of it right away, and I haven't had a problem since. There is new management since around last November, and the front office staff has always been friendly and courteous. They are proficient at their work and they clearly care. The building was completed around 1971, but it is in good condition and some of the apartments are in the process of getting upgraded. We have a community room here, a fitness room, an outdoor pool and tennis courts, and a little market. I enjoy being a short walk from the Gaithersburg library, CVS, and Lakeforest Mall. Weis grocery store is not far either, a bit further from the library. The 59 bus comes right outside the front entrance of Walker House. I haven't had any trouble with power or pests. I feel confident recommending Walker House to others who are looking for a comfortable, laid-back place to live.
