Training of your hair stylist and those that do hair high and low lights. I went in for my hair appointment and had a horrible experience. My appointment was with a lower level stylist but it stated she had many years of application of color application. This was not what I experienced. My scalp and hair was damaged by the product and application of the products she used. Even the stylist next to her told her to place a damp cloth on my scalp which she did but not soon enough to prevent burning of my scalp. It's been a week since then and my scalp is still raw and irritated. My hair is yellow on the outer surface and orange underneath. I provided a picture of what I requested and the stylist acknowledged my request and even took a picture of the picture I provided. My hair came out horrible and not even close to the picture I provided or the instructions we discussed in person. My scalp at my crown was severely damaged by the product being left too long or applied incorrectly. My highlights are yellow and orange in various locations on my head. On the underside of the hair on the back my color is extremely orange and was applied two to three inches from the root. This was the worst experience of getting my hair colored in all my life. When I posted my first review the manager called and wanted me to come in to look at my scalp. Because there is not dermatologist at a hair salon I chose not to go and instead saw my dermatologist. Clients beware! I'm so disappointed in this horrible experience. They should have offered to provide me with a corrective service free of charge but instead they only wanted to look at my damaged scalp which I decided not to do as they are not dermatologist and do not have the medical knowledge to determine this. Beware of styling at this company. I hope the stylist who damaged my hair receives a lot more training before being allowed to work on other customers. read more

Please do yourself a favor and go to another salon!!! I showed my stylist (who I've been getting haircuts from for close to 2 years) an inspo picture of what I wanted done to my grey hair (which took the last 4 years to grow out previous highlights) - she said we could enhance my grey and put lowlights in to play down my natural brunette. In early January, she did the treatment. After 3 days (no shampooing or heat applied), my hair turned blond before my eyes!! My grey was gone! I went by to show her and she said we'd try again and fix it - and the same thing happened!!! But it was even more blond this time! I texted her photos of what my hair looked like and she had the manager text me to reach out to come in for a consultation. So I went in on 2/14 and spoke to Justin Killingsworth, the owner. He said my grey hair was gone - until it grew back out!!!! I have 2 of my children's weddings early next year and my grey hair was ruined! I went to another salon in Montgomery to fix my hair (and they did!) I was told by that stylist that the stylist at the Color Bar used the wrong toner and the wrong amount of time. If you want just a haircut, fine. But if you want color done, I wouldn't trust the Color Bar or their products. Justin, the owner is also a stylist (and travels to supposedly the 7 locations he owns in Montgomery county area) and his only response was that the grey was gone and I had to wait until it grew out??? RUN! BAIT AND SWITCH PRICING and MEDIOCRE SERVICE at best. I needed an all-over color and have seen Facebook advertising in my feed for this new location offering $25 off a first-time service. I called this morning and confirmed pricing for the different levels of stylists and stated that I wanted an entry level stylist since my color was a single process of my natural shade. I also clearly stated I have the $25 off offer. When I got there, the receptionist placed me with Hillary, who is not an entry level. I re-confirmed the pricing for an all-over color (again) and that I want an entry level stylist and was placed with Zoey. The service took 2 hours and multiple times she pulled my hair so hard that it hurt. After my hair was colored, she asked me if I wanted her to blow dry my hair. I asked her if this was part of the service and she said yes. She used globs of 3 different products on my very fine hair and burned my scalp with her hairdryer. My hair looked awful and she left a big black dye mark across my forehead that would not come off with their wipes. My hair felt like it had tacky paste all over it and I even asked her if it was fully dry because it felt so heavy. At no time were hot tools ever offered or used to create a "style". When I went to check out. I was told that my service was $95 - this is AFTER the $25 discount. When I questioned the price and that this doesn't even make sense since their own website quotes a lower price, I was told by the staff that that's a package price and would not apply to my service. How does that even make sense? Had I known that there was a $45 upcharge to dry my hair I would have declined, especially since I needed to go home and re-shampoo it to get the black dye that Zoey left off my forehead. During the consultation, Zoey never told me the service would be more than their advertised price or that there was a $45 up charge if I wanted her to blow dry my hair (I would not call what I received a "style"). In fact, I specifically asked her if this was a part of the service when she asked if I wanted her to blow dry my hair. I was also charged $20 for an extra bowl of color. This also wasn't disclosed. I understand this is additional product, so I don't have an issue paying for additional product, but it should be fully disclosed before the service is rendered. As I was obviously upset, the manager Renee called me after I left the salon offering to redo the service. I declined, as the quality of the color job itself was mediocre. As soon as I got home, I thoroughly shampooed my hair again and found several spots that were missed and where color did not take. I would never recommend this salon!! They get you in offering a discount to try them and then don't disclose the pricing until you check out. There are so many better options in Montgomery who truly care about developing long-term customers, providing great customer service and doing the right thing. When read more

The online appointment system is worthless so I called and spoke to the manager to book direct. After driving 35 minutes, I arrived on time and was met with blank stares. My appointment time on their system was WRONG! There was a lame attempt by the manager to blame me until I looked on my phone for verification. Instead of checking to see if another stylist was available, I received a shoulder shrug and offer to re-book. A total waste of my time.
