Voila, Highland Park saved the day. The thing that attracted me most was the playground that featured plenty of shade as well as playscapes that worked for various ages including babies with a soft floor. I also want to highlight that this park features hiking trails and a great view overlooking downtown Pittsburgh. It's tucked into a historic neighborhood so the drive to the park was also pleasant. If I lived in the area, I could see myself frequenting this park. Overall a wonderful experience and we will definitely visit the next time we are in Pittsburgh!

There is a playground area with a very cool sculpture that you can climb and slide on. It has little people sculptures all over it that are fun to discover. There are chairs and benches and port-a Johns, and a restroom in the building too. There is even a dog park. The trail has been extended since my last visit, and goes all the way to Sharpsburg. The only thing I don't like is the big ugly cellphone tower, but I suppose it's a necessary evil. Overall, a very nice place to come and hang out and relax ... Cheers!

Part of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail that runs along the Allegheny & Ohio Rivers …read more Beautiful views of the city during a bike ride as well as Memorial Parks along the North Shore including The Fred Roger's, Vietnam, Korean, WWII & The Law Enforcement. Along the Ohio River is The USS Requin, (French for Shark) as submarine museum associated with the Carnegie Science Center. The Rivers Casino is also nearby if you're feeling lucky! Also along the North Shore there's a variety of restaurants for a bite along the ride. Well kept trails with friendly people along the way to chat with if you're so inclined. Always a nice and relaxing ride along the rivers. It's a refreshing ride in the heart of town that's close to the city yet surrounded by nature. A perfect mix of nature surrounded by downtown amenities. Love spending the day along the trails, highly recommended!!

To be fair, the river had recently flooded and clean up work needed doing, which explains why they were there. Nevertheless, everyone was nice, friendly and made me feel safe using the trail on my own. Memorials and sculptures line the trail, making the run an enjoyable one with plenty to do sight-seeing wise while you're running. Loved it! Things to see on the run: PNG Stadium (Pirates), Heinz Field (Steelers), Mr Rogers Memorial (the Childrens Memorial), Allegheny County Police Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, World War II Memorial, Science Center, plus numerous steel bridges and assorted public art sculptures.

No one was waiting long for a drink. Parking is along the street, since this is on Penn Ave, but we didn't have an issue finding a spot a block down.
