A long time personal favorite. The Community Tap boasts an amazing selection of craft beer, both on draft for on-site consumption and plenty of cans or bottles for take-home options. They also have a nicely curated wine selection in addition to some ciders or seltzers if that's your jam. No kitchen, but they offer some small snacks or cheeses to accompany your drink - and they regularly have food trucks almost every evening. Even with their awesome beverage choices, the crown jewel of The Community Tap is the staff. Always friendly. Capable of educating you without being remotely condescending. Exceptionally knowledgeable of their offerings. Zach, Neil, and Kelsey have never steered me wrong, and I wish I had the time and space to name every one of their staff. We had the option to sit either indoors or outdoors with our dog, which was a great plus. While they don't serve food on-site, there are plenty of nearby restaurants, and you're welcome to bring food in. We grabbed a truffle mushroom pizza from next door, and it was absolutely amazing. This is mostly a store, with a great selection of craft beers as well as wines. They have about 24 beers on tap that are a good selection of different types. They also host tastings by different vendors. Tonight it was Sierra Nevada Brewery with their Bigfoot Barleywine ale. Tasting the differences between the 2023 versions and older versions. It's amazing what just 2 years does the flavor profile of a good beer! But what truly blew me away was their unisex family bathroom. Y'all!!! This is a great place. I have only been once and it is clearly a "locals" kind of place, but I was feeling the love as a out of towner and a first timer. Bartenders Zach, Kirby, and Tyler are very congenial. You can tastings of wine and beer before you make a decision. Inside is spacious, but I love that outside covered porch. We attended a Friends of the Reedy River meeting here and I was blown away by all the selections of beers and wines. The facility was slammed so there was no time for a lot of interaction with the staff but the limited contact was positive and friendly. The Tap is clean and there were food trucks on site but our food was provided inside so I cannot speak to the trucks or their offerings. And just in case you like DARK brews, may I recommend Chocolate Sex--it's a beer, people! And a most delicious beer! Even during COVID this place is amazing! The service has/is always spectacular. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about what is on tap and in stock. They offer a relaxed atmosphere where you feel welcomed all hours of the day. They have rotating taps so you're palate is always satisfied. It is also family friendly and great for large groups. Definitely had a mixed experience here. Some of the staff was great and friendly. One girl behind the bar was snippy and almost seemed annoyed by our questions about the beers being offered. The space itself is pretty cool. There are separate rooms that help keep the noise down and a nice patio area when the weather is nice. There is parking in the back by the patio and outdoor area, though. The food trucks that are sometimes there have always been good, (special shout-out to "We Got The Beets"!) Even though (because of Covid-19) we have not been able to set foot inside this building for weeks, they deserve a five star review for their operations during this crisis. The Community Tap has been exceptionally diligent and intentional about creating and maintaining community during their shutdown. Their virtual date nights provide an engaging experience and have been the highlight of our week. During these events, they recruit other business partners to support and highlight their work. Instead of resorting to an "us against them" survival mode, Community Tap puts into practice "together we are stronger". Their Mother's Day brunch was also a godsend for this mother who is far away from her children during this time. My favorite North Main watering hole with a beer board and wine menu that changes almost daily. Love sampling (just a little bit) all of the hearty stouts and digging into a new beer once in a while. Since I'm GF, I stick to the wine menu. These folks know their wine and offer a broad range of $20-$30 bottles. I love a wine that challenges my palate... I have been to The Community Tap a few times and finally feel compelled to write a review. It's a cute little beer bar that offers a wide variety of beers and some wines on tap. You can choose to drink by the pint or get a flight of four, and just about every time that I have been there, they have a food truck in the back. The staff is friendly and give you good recommendations based on your taste in beer. I only give it four stars because The place has been completely packed every time I've been. I guess that's a good thing, they have a ton of regulars and it's a very popular spot for people who live in the area, but it makes it uncomfortable when you sit at a community table with a bunch of other people. I came in on a Monday at 3:00 pm, I was two feet into the store when what I assume is an employee asked if I was looking for anything in specific as he blocked my path to the rest of the store. It was awkward to be blocked in an isle, no greeting, and no time to even look around. I asked if there was a bar and he pointed to the back of the place which I couldn't see because he was blocking my view. The music was mostly instrumentals at a gentle volume which was nice. The place looks clean and dogs are welcomed on the heated patio. The crowd is older and grey, not a bad thing but not much of a meeting place for 20-30 somethings. The folks who come in are the type to listen to their meetings on speaker while holding the phone to their ear and leave their notifications noises on so phones are pinging loudly... awkward. We have visited a few times, and loved them until today! Great takeaway beer & wine selection, usually have a food truck. This afternoon we came with our kiddo (we often see other people bring kids) and the person working came to us in the other room to let us know we should not let our kid wander around. This place is awesome. The staff is knowledgeable and very accommodating. I go there and rarely have to make a choice as to what i want to try. The bartenders Chuck/Chad/Cammie always seem to know exactly which beer i should "try" on the visit. I realize they are making this up by remembering what i enjoyed in my previous visits. Community Tap is my go-to beer store whenever I can get out to Wade Hampton. (Seriously, its location and the fact that it is out of the way for me is the only reason I don't stop by there more often.) The expanded location is definitely an improvement...I just still wish they were closer to me :) It can certainly get a bit crowded/busy here at times, but again, the new location has improved upon that. There's often a food truck outside, which is great, and of course the selection at CT is one of the best in town (both in terms of growlers and bottled beers). The staff is knowledgeable, passionate, and generally very friendly. Positioned strategically down Wade Hampton Blvd from Bob Jones University, it is the go-to place for a student's beer needs. Only kidding, people! A Bob Jones student would never drink. Love this place! My husband and I moved here from Chicago and LOVE craft beers, mostly trying any and every IPA we can get our hands on. We thought our best option was Whole Foods until our neighbors told us about the Community Tap. They have an awesome selection of bottled and draft beer (with growlers of it that you can take home...score!), along with wine. They also offer many wine and beer tastings, usually at $10 a piece, which is super affordable considering the fact that it's not cheap beer we're trying. The guys there are very knowledgeable and love and appreciate their beer just like their customers! If you are looking for some new wine or beer to try, or just want to learn a little more about them definitely go here! We were lucky enough to get a recommendation to stop by Community Tap from a friend while we were in Greenville. As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted by Ed who showed us around the place. They have all manner of craft beer bottles, 10 or so beer growler stations and 3 wine growler stations. The wine growlers were new to me but it must work, otherwise people wouldn't buy them. The wife wanted to try a Pinot on tap and she really like it. She described it as very smooth and light, and Ed was very knowledgable about wines, as well as beer. We wound up hanging around for over an hour, as I drank a few beers while perusing the bottle selection. I wound up with 2 growler, 2 beer bottles and 1 cider plus 1 wine for the wife. They do have a few tables in the back to sit down and while they have no kitchen, they do have regular food trucks providing food to pair with their beer options. Community Tap is definitely a must stop for any beer lover whenever in Greenville and I will certainly return in the future. read more

Wonderful and knowledgable staff make The Community Tap a must go to after a long day at work. Varied selections, which are changed frequently, are a wonderful way to find what your "taste" is. This is a very un-snobbish bar/store with generous indoor and outdoor seating. Food trucks are usually on premises for dining. Community Tap closes early (9:00 pm) which ensures no hangover for the next day. Unless you're like me and get some "to go" beers for when you get home. Also, growlers and re-fills are available.
