We finally made our yearly Christmas visit to Green's Discount Beer and Wine on December 21, 2024. It was a little crowded, but not too bad. The lines at check moved pretty fast. My niece and I usually do a visit around Christmas time to Greens. They had a lot of items to choose from. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, I just like this store. I did find a few things that I purchased(small bottles) that I would like to buy in full size. The Chi chi's pre mixed margarita is pretty tasty!! Stopped here on my way home from Simpsonville for work; convenient location near the mall with a moderate amount of parking. Like many spots in SC the store is separated into two sides; Beer & Wine on one side, and liquor on the other. The Beer/Wine side is fairly large, with most of the space dedicated to wine, with a smaller section for beer that has a decent selection local and regional beers, as well as the nationally distributed brands. Not a bad selection, seems to be on par with Total Wine, though with fewer singles available. I had very little interaction with the staff; really only to check out, though the person at the register seemed to be friendly enough. Overall this location was decent, but with other good beer spots nearby, I'll probably pass next time I'm in the area read more

I'm a local culinary director for a business in Greenville, having a get together for our residents, go to greens for convenience get to the counter with $28 worth of liquor pull out the company cc, with the company name on it, same name on my name badge and I'm told no way because my id doesn't have the business name, even though I'm a signer on the account, even though I use is all over greenville for food purchase, it's a big rude no!!! Not a $200 purchase mind you, $28 So I will do all I can to let everyone know if you want to be mistreated and like a criminal at a store with bars on the window in Baltimore then this is the place !!!!!! As a Californian it's weird to me to not be able to get liquor in a grocery store, but given that's the way it is in South Carolina, this is a great spot to get some. Cost to worth it ratio: 3 Highlights: - Size of store: pretty large warehouse style completely stocked and segmented into aisles marked with liquor type. Ah the wonderful world of liquor--like willy wonka's for adults. - Variety: I only perused the vodka section--my liquor of choice--but the options were plentiful. Probably about the same as BevMo, but the difference seems to be the option of large Costco sizes with handles for most items. We had to look a bit but was happy to find my firefly sweet tea on the bottom shelf. Lowlights: - If you want beer, wine or mixers, it's on the other side so you have to exit the store and re-enter over there. - Cash prices: kinda like the gas station deal, but seems like only about a dollar per bottle, so it's not worth it to me. If Firefly still isn't distributed to Cali before our next visit, we'll be back to stock up. read more

Green's has a really awesome selection of wine, beer and alcohol. I generally either go here or Pelham liquors & wine when I'm looking for alcohol. However, I generally go here because the staff are super nice and the shop is nice, spacious and very clean. Can't recommend them more. read more

Their location on Buford Highway is amazing. They have a great selection of beer, wine and liquor. I am always able to find the latest craft beers. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is always plenty of parking and they have convenient hours. This has always been my go to place. read more

Great selections and prices, but most of the staff is extremely rude. Out of the 5 people I interacted with the day I went in, 1 of them actually approached me and treated me with decency. Every other staff member ignored me and when I asked a question or needed help they assisted me in a way that made me feel like a nuisance more than a paying customer. If you know what you need and are in and out, great place. However if you want a good overall experience, just find ANY OTHER alcohol vendor. read more

Greens has decent prices..same as total wine essentially...but total wine is a better store and the employees seem to care a bit more...in Greenville though,total is on woodruff rd,everyone's traffic nightmare...but I'm making the journey simply because of those awful,environmentally ridiculous plastic bottle separators that Greens uses...they are beyond stupid and you can't cut them up enough to prevent their hazard to animals.. read more

Green's is a good place to check out if you are in the mood to peruse their large selection of beer, wine, and spirits. I don't really know how "discount" it is, especially if paying by credit card, but you might be hard-pressed not to find something you like here. In the tradition of places in this state that sell beer, wine, and liquor, the liquor is partitioned into its own section. The organization is a little strange and bottles can get a little hard to find on both sides. Beware of the mark-up for using a card; however (at least on the beer & wine side), you can get the cash price when using debit, which is nice. I don't really know if the cash prices are that much cheaper than the ABC, but they certainly have a bigger selection than other ABCs I've stopped at. On the beer and wine side, they do carry some rare beers and wine, which is cool. I've been able to find some rare imports that I cannot find everywhere. Overall, I give this place 3.5 stars. read more

I have to admit Green's has never been my favorite place to buy liquor. I have yet to go there and anyone was nice or helpful to me. Well yesterday was no exception. I did not want to travel to Total Wine and stopped here, I wish I had gone to Total. The item that I purchased was about $2.50 more than the Total Wine price. read more

I'm from NC, where the state government controls the sell of liquor. They want their hands in it without apology. So when I'm in SC I run to stores like these to save a few bucks on different spirits. If you buy top shelf brands like I do, then if you'll plan to pay cash you'll certainly save a few bucks. If you're into the cheap liquors, then chances are the savings are minimal no matter how you pay. the liquor manager at the greens store Scott in greenville is tipping his buddies off of when the bourbon allocation will be put out on the shelf. therefore resulting in a line of 20-30 people at 815 am that was outside of the store last tuesday 2/9. the managers buddy is a member of a bourbon club who alerted all his friends as a result of having inside information on when the bourbon allocation would be put on the shelf. he was also solicitating his bourbon club at your store by passing out business cards to join the club which is illegal. there is no reason on a random tuesday 2/9 that there should be a line of 20 people at 815 in the morning at greens. this is not fair to everyone else that may have a shot at getting the allocation. it should be a even playing field and with the manager giving out inside information to his friends its not. please stop this. read more

In North Carolina if you need to purchase alcohol or hard liquor, you go to an ABC store. In S.C they have Green's Discount Beverage. This place is incredible. They have amazing prices!!!! Everytime we go through Greenville we stop in and try to stock up on a few items. Here is an example of their amazing prices. We payed $31.97 for a huge 1.76 Litre bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey! in N.C we would pay about 40ish for that size. A 12 yr. old bottle (750ml) bottle of Glenlivet was $27.97. I seem to be having good luck with random wine shops down South. Stopped by here on my way back from Greenville today after taking (and passing) my certified exam for the Court of Master Sommeliers. Fantastic selection, separate cellar area with some real gems. '78 Pichon-Lalande, plenty of Gaja, multiple vintages of Haut-Brion and Mouton. '94 Dominus, couple of vintages of d'Yquem (a '99 was sold out for $100), Barolos, Cote Roties, great sparkling section... also pleased to see some Ken Wright pinots here as well- love the quality Willamette representation. Ended up leaving with an '03 Louis Latour Corton-Grancey Grand Cru for $49, marked down from $90 and a .375 of 1990 Guiraud Sauternes for $49. Wine steward was knowledgeable and friendly. As a side note, how come all the liquor/wine stores here in South Carolina have completely separate sides for the hard alcohol and beer/wine? And whats with the whole 3 red dots thing on the signs outdoors? read more

I don't drink liquor so I can't put too much input on that matter but the beer selection is kinda weak. I want beer that I can't find at supermarkets. I don't need Becks and I don't care about Kirin - I can find those with relative ease at any-o places. I want west coast microbeers not Italian watered down beers. They sold me expired beer that foamed all over the floor when opened and tasted way too malty for an IPA. I tried to exchange 5 out of 6 beers for fresh beer I originally paid for. The manager would not comply. Total disappointment in customer service. read more
