Stopped in this great establishment near our hotel. What a great place. Greeted upon entering and the woman explained some of the ins and outs of the place. They do have an excellent selection of great beers, wines, and THC/CBD beverages to take home. If you walk through the store, there's a rather large taproom in the back. They have a great selection of drafts. European beers, local, national, I believe wine, and even a THC/CBD! I bought a couple cans for the room. The gentleman that helped us at the register is a former Marine, so we exchanged quick salutations before departing. I would have to say this is a great place for those looking to partake. Easy 5 stars. Amazing beer and wine selection. I was lucky enough to sit next to the wine curator who told me about why she chooses the wines on the menu. They don't have crap in them basically. The beers were very unique and you cannot beat the pour/price affordability. Friendly atmosphere and really interesting "basement" feeling at the bar. Front of store is retail and they have tons of great options. Really happy I stopped here and would come back in a heartbeat. read more

While visiting Greenville, my friend said we absolutely had to stop by this place because they were the only ones that carried one of his favorite beers. That surprised me a little--Greenville seemed to have plenty of liquor stores from what I saw online. When we walked in, we were instantly welcomed by the owner, who asked if we needed help finding anything. The shop itself has a bit of a speakeasy vibe. Up front, there's a store packed with an impressive selection of beers from around the world. Honestly, if you can think of it, they probably have it. I grabbed a 4-pack of Banana Foster (wish I could remember the brewery's name). Head toward the back, and a hallway leads you into the taproom. I sampled about six or seven different beers, even asking the bartender for the house favorites. Most of them didn't quite hit the mark for me--but I think that's more about my own picky palate these days than their offerings. The bartender was great, though, and the tasting was very reasonably priced (less than $20, if that). Like most beer spots, I'm sure their taps rotate regularly, so the lineup will be different next time. Overall, a cool spot with an incredible selection, and I'll definitely swing by again next time I'm in the area. read more

When you first enter there's a shop full of every beer you could ever want. In the back there's a bar where they have select beers on tap that you can enjoy. These folks got me two cases of an Italian beer that I tasted in LA at a great Italian restaurant. I could not find it anywhere near me (Anderson)... These guys bought some for me and called my when it was delivered. Great service! They have a huge collection of all types of beer. I was in Simpsonville for work and decided to take a detour on the way home as I was not too far from GBX. What a place! not terribly spacious, but densely packed with a great selection of beers! The guys working there were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. They also have a taproom, but unfortunately I didn't get to try it out this time, though I look forward to the next time I stop in. Overall, this is a great little hidden gem. Had a really great time at Gather of Greenville and hit one of my favorite spots there, the Greenville Beer Exchange. They have such a large selection of local beers from all over the state. I really like the choices from the upstate breweries, but super cool how they have some of my favorite beverages from the low country too. We ordered several pints, but most notable the Aloha Beaches from Low Tide Brewery, Golden Monkey Triple Belgian from Victory, and the Cranberry Lime Sour from Edmund's Oast. The staff are amazing and pints are cold. They are all knowledge of the offerings on deck and willing to help you select something that you will enjoy. The place is small- only two round bar height tables with 4 chairs each, so make some new friends while you're enjoying a beer! A fun side note, they have hand held video games at the table. If you love craft beers, Greenville Beer Exchange will be your happy place!! There's three rooms stocked full of craft beers from floor to ceiling. The owner gave us a tour of the place and he's literally got the beers organized alphabetically by brewery name and international beers alphabetically by country. There's every kind of beer possible - sours, IPAs, amber ale, brown ale, hefeweizen, wheat, you name it! There's even a shelf full of mead (some of them are from South Africa...talk about exotic!) and a tasting area where you can grab a cold beer while you make your selections. They sell 32oz, 64oz, and 128oz growlers as well. Another perk is that he sells the beers individually so you're not forced to buy a 6-pack of something new and then realize that's a beer you'd never want to drink in your life. Just go ahead and pop off however many you want from that 6-pack and buy per beer! The prices range depending on the beer...I got some local brews from Wicked Weed in Asheville for about $1.70 each, but my fiance who has a more expensive taste went for some Belgium sours that were about $3 each. read more

Cool little nook off main street! Its across the street from Caviar and Bananas if you're having trouble finding it. Its super small inside, expect to not find seating. I love the free tastings they do on Thursday evenings. You can find some incredible beer here. I enjoyed a couple glasses of awesome beer and picked up a few to go. The shelf by the door has some great clearance drinks. There's also beautiful beer glasses if you want a nice gift. It would be great with a few plants inside and some seating on the sidewalk. I believe they offer a discount if you return the recyclable beer holders! read more

Amazing spot, tucked away from the chaos of the Main Street Downtown crowd. You'll find GBX right around the corner from Barley's and Trappe Door. GBX hosts an amazing selection of craft beer from all over the world. They have about 16 beers on draft if my memory serves me right. Cozy up in this small, friendly establishment and make new friends. It seems like every time I stop by, I'm meeting someone new. Always a great beer experience. Always a great social experience! Staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in finding some gems. Was pleasantly surprised to not only find that they stocked barleywines, but that they carried a variety of rare (to me) selections since the owner is a barleywine fine. A must visit if you are visiting from out of town and looking for a selection of SC brews and curated selection from around the world, e.g., JW Lee's Harvest Ale from the UK. I like their specials(Monday you pay the 1/2 pour price for a full pour). They have some good and/or interesting beers/ciders/sours on tap (I had a beet cider just today and actually liked it). They have a good selection of cans and bottles too! I'm looking forward to trying some from Edmonds Oast in Charleston if they can keep it in stock. The downside: they literally only have 2 small high top tables. And the store is very small. My friends and I went on Sunday around 1pm and got a seat no problem but if you go on a week night after work, expect to awkwardly stand around the already tight quarters. read more

This place is a gold mine for any craft beer lover!! There's huge selection of brews from anywhere you can imagine. Check out their website before hand to see what they have in stock. It makes it a lot less overwhelming. The staff is knowledgeable and very passionate about beer. They sometimes hold special releases for out of town visitors! Just ask! and show them an out of state license or something. My boyfriend was trilled to find out they had some special release beer he was searching for. This amazing beer store is right off Main Street in downtown Greenville. The store has a ton of charm and is chock full o' great beers. According to the guy working there, they just opened a growler/drink in store station a few days ago. They had mostly local beers on tap and they were all different styles so there is something for everyone. If you are looking for solid beers, rare beers, and as much local craft as you can possibly stomach, this is the place. They have a designated SC beer room, a growler station with beer you can't find ANYWHERE else, and imports out the wazoo. Best beer store in the upstate for sure. Some items will be pricey, but that is because they aren't fridge turds like Bud and Blue Moon. Only the good stuff here. read more

Popped by GBX during a liesure trip to Greenville, and I'm so glad I did. Moving from San Diego where great bottle shops were essentially taken for granted, it was nice to stumble upon a shop that - albeit small - is stocked floor to ceiling with well procured craft selections from all categories and all regions. Hoppy IPA? Bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout? Belgian sour? Check, check, check. Growler station was wonderful and you can enjoy a glass of crafty brew in-store. I enjoyed a glass of refreshing Almanac Apricot de Brettaville, dispensed from a clean line and in proper glassware. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Took about 20 bottles/cans (some really hard to find in my locale) home and I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Cheers! read more

Pretty good beer selection for the size of the place. Apparently you need a beard and a flannel shirt to get treated like a special costumer and get shown around the beers and get samples from the tap because I got none of that treatment that I saw a few other people get. The employee that was working today was very pretentious and we felt generally unwelcome. I will buy my specialty beers elsewhere. read more
