This update to my original five star review is long overdue. I began training with Dr. Aaron at Imagine fitness in 2010 and have progressed over the the last six years in ways I would have never predicted. Initially I began training with goals of fat loss and was able to reduce a significant percentage of fat without losing strength. Aaron carefully monitored my diet and helped me eliminate foods that were hindering my progress and recommended supplements to balance my nutritional intake. Often throughout the years coach Aaron will sit down with me for a "goals session" where he listens to what events might be coming up or how my needs might be changing and modify my workout program accordingly. Coach Aaron has designed programs that have focused on leg strength and balance to prepare for an upcoming snowboarding season; assisted in shoulder stability exercises after a rotator cuff injury (I now have full range of motion and matched strength to the non-injured shoulder!); designed a program specific to a foot/ankle strain that was more beneficial than common physical therapy movements; and most recently got me ready (both physically and mentally) for a masters water polo tournament played at 6000 ft. elevation. I give Imagine Fitness my highest recommendation as a client for six years and as a referring doctor of Chiropractic. I have no reservation to refer my clients to Imagine Fitness because I know they will get a comprehensive, customized health and fitness program that will evolve and progress as they do. read more

This updated review is solely to comment upon the transformational coaching sessions available. Several months ago I was speaking with Dr. Aaron regarding a weight block that I felt was happening in my life. He suggested that we sit down for a transformational coaching session to dig deep into what could be happening. Now, I can't speak for all sessions but mine turned into a therapy session, haha. It was so easy to speak with him and address my issues that I booked a second session with him. During this time we spoke and did visual/mental exercises to deal with certain issues. I've know Aaron for about 7 years now and can honestly say that he's had such a huge impact in my life. I have always been an athlete and into fitness so going to the gym 6-7 days a week was not a big deal to me, it was a part of my life. However, I reached a plateau and couldn't break it. I was eating clean, cheating one day a week and working out at least 6 days a week but no more weight loss. Most would look at me and say I'm fine and don't need to lose weight but I know what my body is capable of and I know with my discipline and Aaron's expertise and knowledge I would be able to take my physique to a place it's never been. After doing a strategy session with him, I was on my way to feeling and looking the best I've ever looked. A nutritional plan was developed and I soon realized that I wasn't eating enough. Contrary to what most people think and believe, if you don't eat enough, your body will not give you results. I was eating maybe about 1000-1200 calories, doing cardio and weights 6-7 days a week and not seeing any results. Since implementing his workout plan (with just 3 days of weight training) and nutritional plan (where I actually eat carbs like sweet potatoes, brown rice and oatmeal), I have seen huge changes in my body in just a short 4 weeks. I can't even imagine what my body will look like when we start adding cardio into the workout. Aaron is amazing at what he does and most importantly, he truly cares about his clients. I am very fortunate to have had Imagine Fitness cross my path, and bring me back from a hard fought journey of recovery. I am not sure quite where I would be if it was not for Aaron at Imagine Fitness. I had a full L4-L5 Discectomy (full removal of disc with no replacement). I had been told by professionals that my full recovery would be 1-2 years, and about a year before going back to my active (dirt bikes, snowboarding, baseball, softball, Gym) lifestyle. To me, that was like telling a horse, you can no longer run, and you will remain a "petting horse". When I entered Imagine Fitness, on a scale of 1-10, my mobility was at 3, pain level 5 (6 weeks post surgery), and my upper body was significantly tilted to one side, so overall I felt about 30% of my normal self. I was discouraged, cautious, and skeptical at first, but trusted Aaron, and left all my knowledge at the door. I did EVERYTHING he said to do (in and out of Imagine Fitness), I came in there every day focused, he helped me see the attainable short goals, while striving for the bigger goal. Through his methodical process and vast knowledge which I grew to trust with each and every session due to the immediate results I would see in not only strength, but more importantly flexibility and confidence with the exercises at hand. Not only are Aaron and his staff knowledgeable about fitness, but they have a unique ability to make complex ideas simple, so that anyone can understand them. For example, I had no idea that posture could affect a workout. Aaron, over the first few weeks of training, helped correct my posture, fixing many issues I'd had since childhood. Aaron Benes is NOT just a Personal Trainer. I was lucky enough to meet Aaron at a business meeting and initially thought, ok this guy's probably just one of your typical run of the mill trainers that can help get my heart rate up, and pump our a few extra reps and break a little harder sweat than when I train on my own. After a few weeks of getting to know him a little better and learning more about the Imagine If fitness studio in Newport Beach I decided I wanted to see exactly what he had to offer. Upon getting to his facility for the first time, I could tell that his approach was going to be different from anything I had previously been exposed to. Aaron spent about an hour on our first visit learning about me, my goals and my current level of fitness. Not just body composition, weight and resting heart rate, but a thorough evaluation of all aspects of fitness including flexibility, balance, posture, muscle imbalances, functional movement screening and cardio capacity. I felt like Aaron was taking a very scientific and analytical approach using the latest techniques and research. It was obvious that he was gathering important data that would help him create a custom program tailored to my fitness goals. My successive visits all built upon one another, building my level of fitness and taking me to a fitness level that I was not able to achieve on my own. After 6 weeks of training I was able to accomplish many of the goals that we had set and I continue to use his approach and refer friends and patients to him, knowing that they will have an exceptional experience. I didn't go to Imagine If to lose weight or change my appearance. I went to Imagine If because I needed to change my habits. I was eating fast food 3 x a day, never working out, drinking alcohol daily and basically enjoying being a couch potato. I knew I couldn't go on like this because the long term health affects would be detrimental. After meeting with Coach Aaron over several sessions, he completely changed my life. He taught me that diet and exercise were critical to living a healthy ENERGIZED life style and more importantly showed me how to become the person I wanted to be. Before I was extremely lazy and sluggish. I felt like I had no energy. I couldn't even touch my toes before I met Aaron. Now I can put my palms on the floor when stretching. I'm much more agile than before. Additionally, I've traded fast food for places like Trader Joes and Mama's. I've never been a cook, but that doesn't mean I have to eat poorly. Imagine Fitness is not your normal gym...Aaron and his staff are highly knowledgeable about all aspects of health including fitness, nutrition, and mental health. Imagine doesn't share the cookie-cutter, one size fits all mentality found in most gyms, the initial session is over an hour and Aaron conducts a full body consultation to figure out exactly what is going on in your body and how to help get you the results you want. He really takes time to figure out what you want and need in a fitness and nutrition program. The programs are personalized and geared towards whatever goals you may have, including fat loss, strength, getting out of pain, or general increased fitness. I've always had knee, hip, and back pain from years of running and soccer and after the first couple weeks I was free of pain and could move better, I was sleeping better, and I had more energy and decreased my body fat percentage! Imagine Fitness is that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. When people find Imagine Fitness, the word of how this gym actually provides results begins to spread like an epidemic. Many entire families and their closest friends join, making Imagine Fitness feel like a second home. I joined this gym only three and a half months ago, and have seen amazing results. I expressed to Aaron during the "New Client Strategy Session" that I am a dancer who wants to put on weight/muscle in some areas and lose fat in others. Gaining while losing is nearly impossible, but not at Imagine Fitness. I am now able to do push ups and pulls ups, I am eating healthier, tasty, foods, my posture is correcting itself, and I am watching changes happen all around me. Although what I cared about most were the results in physical appearance, I realized that I am also getting other sorts of results as well. The facility is clean, there is every piece of equipment you could want or ever need; all on top of the fact that as soon as I walked in I felt like I was where I was supposed to be.
