This may be the most chaotic ice cream shop I've been too... and it was amazing! The service was great and made it extremely efficient with getting our food. The ice cream was awesome. The Cone is a family favorite. After they sold, we worried that it would be different but it has not changed! The ice cream tastes the same. The service is always speedy, and it is a really fun place to bring kids. There are lots of characters and sculptures to look at of ice cream and various animals. There is some seating out front and they have a drive through!

We LOVE The Cone! We've been coming here for years. With new owners we were a little skeptical but after meeting them and knowing they didn't change the ice cream it was like any other time we've been, fantastic!! Everyone is super friendly and there are some new kids but that's with any new season. They will get the hang of things! I wish them the best of luck this season and We'll definitely be continuing to be regular customers.

Love this place!! If you like the blueberry, you gotta try the blueberry frozen yogurt. It has extra blueberry so it's much better than what you can find in most stores. Their pumpkin is also amazing. Great ice cream and not crazy expensive. read more

This is my favorite ice-cream place! Tons of great flavors, great service, family friendly... And with all of the kids toys and game room it's basically the Jungle Jim's of ice-cream joints. A nice selection of pinball machines in particular. Highly, highly recommended. read more

Got your weekly email and it had ice cream places in it and The Cone was the closest to me so I decided to go there today. Logged onto their website and you got a free milkshake for signing up for their mailing list. So me and my roommate and the mooch hopped in the jeep and drove over to The Cone. We both had Peanut Butter Milkshakes and really enjoyed them. They were not as sweet as alot of places but that wasn't a bad thing more like an old style Milkshake and it was thick like a milkshake should be, it was very filling for a small shake. Already plan on going back again. I really want to try the cherry hard shell over some soft serve ice cream or the key like and blueberry looked really good and the sundaes looked great. So many things to try. Oh and the girls running the place were friendly and quick. Definitely a place to go back to, Oh and the mooch enjoyed the shake as well.:) read more

The creamy whip is delicious but the drive thru line (s) are not well marked. I was in line and several cars go flying by me in the 2nd line and get served way before me. It should be marked better to let customers know about the 2nd line. read more

If you love yourself come here. Simple as that, the icecream is great, super creamy, flavorful, and overall delightful. Navigating the drive through is a little interesting but it just makes the first taste of that icecream all the more worth it. read more

The cone is way too expensive for what you get! My husband got a med turtle sundae that looked like a small, pecans were extra ( on a turtle sundae?!) and as always whip cream and a cherry are extra. Presentation looked worse than what I'd make at home and this was almost $4.00! My small choc dipped cone was $2.85 and the choc was so thinned down that it was transparent enough to see the ice cream through it! I remember when they rationed their napkins with a sign to take just one! Staff is unfriendly. My family owned an ice cream parlor that I managed. We took more pride in presentation and making it affordable for families. Taking your family out for ice cream at the Cone is not worth it!!! Graeter's is worth the money because it's much better ice cream (and is actually cheaper). read more

One may wonder why in the world I'm writing a review for The Cone in the middle of February. I think it's the same reason many people are planning their summer vacations right now....wishful thinking. I find that just remembering how awesome The Cone is makes winter seem like it's about to fade into the background. When I first moved to Cincinnati, I kept searching and searching for an awesome ice cream soft serve stand (the kind that's only open in warmer months). Maybe I was looking for a bit of home, or maybe I just love ice cream that much. The Cone is everything I had been searching for. They have delicious flavors of soft serve (my fave is orange sorbet and vanilla swirl -- just like a creamsicle). Their other concoctions and blends of fruit, candy and ice cream all look delicious, but I'm kind of a purist when it comes to these places and I just want my soft serve...be it through the drive-thru or waiting in line behind all the others drawn to the intriguing building that has an icecream swirl top. read more

History

Established in 1995.

We, the Wren family, have been producing premium ice cream since 1973. Kenneth Wren owned and operated the K&W Creamy Whip in Reading, OH with the help of his wife and 3 kids. While vacationing in Florida in 1993, Ken spotted a 30-foot high ice cream shaped building. Ken bought the building and had it shipped to West Chester, OH in nine 1000 lb pieces. Construction delays caused the pieces to sit for an entire year. Finally, construction began. Much hard labor was put into rebuilding the unusual shape! On July 15th, 1995 The Cone had its grand opening! We had one cash register but found out the first week that we needed to order another one! From the beginning the eye-catching building brought families form the greater Cincinnati area. The Cone, which was intended to be a retirement hobby for Mom and Dad, now has a Drive Thru, Game Room, Kiddie Rides, and 3 Mobile Units! Although making quality product is a lot of work, we feel the finished product is well worth it! You be the judge!

Meet the Business Owner: Keith W.

Keith Wren has been in the ice cream business since he was 14. He worked for his father's Ice Cream shop (K&W Creamy Whip) as a child and then the two of them opened The Cone in 1995. Although Keith has worked at Skyline, owned West Chester Mini Storage, rented vehicles, and was insurance agent, ice cream has always been his forte.

The Pina Colada flavor wasn't that great, but the orange and lime were good. I'm looking forward to trying more flavors before colder weather hits. They have a grape variation of You Betcha which is flat-out delicious. Every time they'd stop by and ask if I want another drink, they got a progressively more sloppy, Fargo-accent laden "You Betcha!" Let's talk about their beer cheese for a second. I had it with some tortilla chips, but then ordered some pretzels with beer cheese. To be clear, they also sent out mustard with the pretzels and cheese. This beer cheese is now my favorite food and beverage. I think they should serve their beer cheese in a mug... with a pretzel straw.... it would be great for the ol' cholesterol. The staff ranges from plain friendly to snarky-yet-hilarious. The customers... were friendly. Like, the whole place was cool, and attracted cool people. It made for a fun evening. Highly recommend!

Inconsistent Customer Service Compared to Other Milk Jar Locations!!!…read more I could have given the Tylersville Road, West Chester location 5 stars, but because of two disappointing experiences, I'm giving it 3 stars. I've been to several Milk Jar locations around Cincinnati, and unfortunately this has been the only one where I've had this issue. My first visit to this location was great. A female staff member made my Dirty Ceylon Boba exactly as I requested--with light ice--and it was delicious. That's why I came back. However, my second and third visits were completely different. Both times, the only employee working was a male staff member, and he refused to make the drink with light ice. He insisted he could only prepare it with the "recommended" amount of ice, which he explained, the cup would be about half full of ice. Since I was in a hurry during my second visit, I accepted it. Unfortunately, the drink literally tasted like dirty water instead of the rich, flavorful Dirty Ceylon Boba I had enjoyed on my first visit. When I returned for the third time, I again requested light ice, and he refused, saying store policy required the Dirty Ceylon Boba to be made with half a cup of ice. I explained that I regularly order the same drink with light ice at five other Milk Jar locations without any issues. He asked which locations they were, and after I listed them, he responded that those stores should also be following the policy. I then asked where customers could read this policy, and he pointed to a sheet of paper taped to his computer monitor--something customers cannot even see. I explained that accommodating simple requests like light ice is common practice at many restaurants and coffee shops and is part of good customer service. Only after a lengthy discussion did he agree to make it with less ice, and even then he seemed reluctant. He still added more ice than I requested, and I had to ask him to remove more ice and add more tea before it matched what I had originally asked for. What I don't understand is why this location is so inflexible when every other Milk Jar location--including this same location on my first visit--had no problem honoring the exact same request. If this is truly a company-wide policy, then it should be applied consistently across all stores. If it isn't, then this location is creating an inconsistent customer experience. To be fair, once the drink was finally made with light ice, the Dirty Ceylon Boba tasted excellent--rich, flavorful, and exactly how I know it should taste. The issue wasn't the drink; it was the customer service and the unwillingness to accommodate a reasonable customer request. Unfortunately, because of these experiences, I won't be returning to this location. I'll continue visiting the other Milk Jar locations that consistently provide both great drinks and excellent customer service.

The flavor and texture of the meats are perfect. The bread was exactly what a baguette should be. The picked veggies was just enough flavor and crunch to make a delicious lunch. The counter worker was friendly and helpful. Not being familiar with their food, she explained the various options, and bonus for telling us her personal favorite. The seating area is clean and fashionable, with artwork and decor to bridge the influences of Paris and Vietnam. We opted to sit on the covered patio as the weather was gorgeous. Sorry, not sorry I don't have a photo. It was so good that I forgot to snap a shot before I finished.

I had heard nothing but great things about The Cone, so when in the area with my son, I decided to stop by. The Cone has a ton of great options when it comes to treats, including a bigger variety of soft serve flavors than most places, but what adds to it is the atmosphere. The Cone hosts an arcade inside with many classic games, and outside there is an area with lots of those great kiddie rides. You have the option to sit inside or outside and they offer a drive thru for those in a hurry. read more

I understand why this place is listed as the best soft-service ice cream in Cincinnati. The drive-thru is a bit confusing and inconvenient, but the service is very fast and thorough, and you get a LOT of ice cream for your buck! With so many options to choose from, there is a way to enjoy a cold treat for every member of the family. read more

Keith says he doesn't need any new business. He won't be getting any more of mine. There are plenty of soft serve providers in Cinti. Why go where the attitude outways the product. Dairy Queen might be a national chain, but they don't have the attitude. Its terrible that the attitude of the leadership drives away customers. read more

Owner has a Trump bumper sticker. Don't support businesses that support fascism. And their ice cream freezer doesn't get cold enough so the ice cream starts melting on your hand within 30 seconds on a warm day. read more

Such a sweet treat! The different flavored soft serve ice cream is delicious! A must try while visiting West Chester! There was usually a long line of cars in the drive through, but it moves pretty fast. read more
