The Conrans are known for their eccentric and always changing style of homeware accessories. With an extensive design studio and research cell, they are not ashamed to admit the inspirations are from all over the world, some as far as Japan. They seem to abide by the learn and observe philosophy. Running business in Architectural design services, Graphics and Product design, Restaurants their wide range of expertise is applausable. The Conran Shop opposite the grounds of the Marylebone Church is flamboyant like the owners and stocked this christmas with the latest and innovative design collection. From mirror frames to furniture to textiles and even light fittings this is a well stocked shop for everyone wanting to refurbish and decorate their homes.

Ever so trendy - ever so expensive - ever so tasteful and colourful, Bizarro and mixed up with down to earth useful things like dressing gowns and dustbins - this is The Conran Shop. Definitely worth a visit even if just to browse and try and imagine how you would fit that 12 foot standard lamp in your basement flat. Or, how you could afford the alternative free standing garishly yellow metal shelving unit, salvaged from a 1950's factory (and would it actually go with your M&S wool rug and painstakingly matched John Lewis coffee table?). Three floors to explore, not knowing what little (or very big) delights await as you clamber up the central stairway. Excellent location in Marylebone High Street, converted stables with the Orrery restaurant above - reviewed elsewhere http://www.qype.co.uk/place/108586-The-Orrery-Restaurant-London Excellent - 5 stars plus.

    Beautiful building.

Although pricey, it is definitely not inaccessibly high end, there are cheaper pieces while even the more pricey products feel justly so.

So it is with Habitat. I like a lot of their furniture, but their lighting doesn't do it for me, for example. I like their cutlery, but I'm less keen on their crockery. And so on. This is quite a nice Habitat store, laid out attractively over two floors, on the King's Road near Chelsea Town Hall. The staff are generally helpful, they have a nice range of accessories to complement the furniture, and they have regular, good sales. The one major item I did buy from Habitat was my dining table. Although it is "partially self-essembly", it is still a lovely solid piece of furniture and, unusually, opens out on the long side to form a square, which seats eight. It's great for working on, too. So spot on in design terms for me. I was a little nervous about home delivery - my flat is 78 stairs up, with no lift - but the delivery staff were cheerful and came exactly when they said they would, waited for me to check everything was as it should be, and that there was no damage, and then took away the packaging. That is what I regard as good service.

I was told it would take 2-3 days to get my order delivered..after 6 days my order hadn't arrived. Called customer services as I was expecting visitors in some days time and absolutely needed these plates!! I was told the order went to the wrong place but would be with me on time for when I needed it. Plates arrived over a week later (No plates for visitors). The box was ripped (no "fragile" label) and plates were broken. I complained and was offered a £10 voucher to spend in their own store?! as a "goodwill" gesture from habitat?! I asked to return and get a refund after such a poor service. I was home on expected time of collection. No one knocked my door and I received an email saying collection failed because no one was home?! (NO note was left on my doorstep either!) I called habitat saying that they were not at my place! I asked if they could contact the driver and I was told they could not contact the driver?! Drivers have no phone number?! This is the worse service I have ever came across with.. it is very disappointing, especially when you pay the extra money for the quality!

On request a full catalogue can be seen, so if something is not in store it can be ordered. And the product range is impressive: there are the cheapest options which extend to top-end designer variants. The latest in body-absorbing mattresses and sleek bedroom unit designs litter some parts of the shop floor like a couple of Ferraris in a middle class parking lot. Unfortunately one piece, the single bookcase had just been discontinued and we weren't able to order it. Megan then offered the store model as an ex display piece and seeing as I wanted two, called round all of the London stores looking for another one. Unfortunately (again!) one couldn't be found so she took us round the entire range until we found a suitable replacement. We also bought another store piece and completed the order. I had everything finally delivered yesterday and delivery was also good, the Laura Ashley people have me an expected time a couple of days in advance, called beforehand and delivered the ones from warehouse without issue. The independent delivery guy, Desmond, recommended by the store also delivered early. I felt really bad as I live on the fourth floor and one of his pieces didn't fit in the lift, he'd already told me that if this was the case there would be an extra fee, but the speed and professionalism he did it in meant that I had no problem in doing so. I'll definitely check out Laura Ashley again the next time I'm looking for furniture!

They are not infallible, nor would I go there for sparkling service (not bad mind, they just basically leave you alone), but I find that if I can't find something random in A&K, there's a decent chance I won't find it anywhere else nearby either.

USA DO NOT PURCHASE ON-LINE GIFT CARDS from TopShop!…read more On the US TopShop website, the gift cards are electronically generated in EUROS and TopShop stores (in this case, The Grove TopShop in LA) DOES NOT HONOR THEM because "they are not in US dollars". After receiving a $200 gift card that they would not honor, I called their US Customer service number. The US customer service telephone lines ring and then disconnect - continuously. I called their UK customer service number that had an automated "your call is important to us" that kept me on hold for over 40 minutes before connecting to a person (the international phone call alone cost $210). The UK customer service guy checked it all out, confirmed the card, acknowledged the issue, and said they would reissue it in US dollars and email it within the week. No gift card was received. Instead, an email asking for CONFIRMATION of full name, address and zip code. (Image attached) Responded to them - no response. Emailed them again (after the first $200 phone charge I wasn't going to call again) - put in a "que" per automated response saying they were very busy and warning that it I sent another email it would put me on the end of the line and start the process all over again.(see attached) Endless loop - with no results whatsoever.
