We bought an Elfa system for our master closet. Jon was our designer and was so helpful with practical suggestions. We decided to install ourselves and Natalie helped us when we picked everything up from the store and told us how to get detailed instructions for our design. Overall it went well but we had several questions at the very end and we were missing one crucial piece. I called the store, spoke to Natalie. She found the piece in the warehouse and offered to drop it to our house on her way home from work that day. She came in and answered our questions - she knew the product very well. This is a very specialized store, but if you need storage of any sort, this is the place to go. There's some overlap with craft stores and big-box hardware stores, but the Container Store has a much broader selection, and they are likely to have just the right thing for your storage need. Their advertising pushes organization, but you don't have to be that ambitious; I often go in just to get one container for a particular kind of things that I need to keep together. The container store has been my outlet during covid and I can't recommend their team at this store more. They helped me figure out what I needed in my home to be effective at keeping my spaces organized and always helped load my car when I needed it. They have done a great job with the influx of home edit Netflix watchers and always had great recommendations in different departments if I didn't see what I was looking for. I called them and they invited me back to return them. when I arrived I was helped in a timely matter. they returned the old product and sold me the new product with the sale price saving me money. This store takes the guess work out of being organized. All you need is a will to be organized and then go visit the store. I am not kidding when I say that the more times I visit the store, the more clutter free my home becomes. I get fresh bright ideas to organize and reorganize my home. I find things for a steal on some days and some things not so much for a steal, but a good price nevertheless. They have the most cooperative staff and even though they don't get paid for a sale, they stay with you if you need them to answer any questions. On one of my visits, I had a staff member with me for than 20 minutes discussing merits of different organizing tools for my garage. And she was polite and patient and explained things very efficiently. I wowed the hubz with the purchase and subsequent organization of the garage which he had sworn was "not organizeable" I would give them a million stars for just that :) Also if you are looking for environment friendly lunch boxes, insulated lunch bag carriers, little nick knacks for the kitchen and daily life saving gadgets, this place has quite a few of those as well. read more

Getting custom Elfa shelving? Make sure to keep double checking TCS's work. My experience was that they are not careful about making sure your requests are met. In the same vein, I recommend that you try to understand what sizes of shelves, drawers, etc. are available before you go in--the associates in the store are not necessarily very familiar with what they are selling. To be fair, once I discovered their mistakes, they offered to fix them for me, but it would mean yet another trip to TCS (you already have to make separate trips to design the solution and to pick up the parts). read more

I had been to the store in Park Meadows a long time ago and found it quite limited. We just moved into a new place so I did my shopping for this one online before we headed over so I was quickly able to find what we needed without a lot of distractions. We were able to evaluate the quality of the products and in one case the staff led us to an excellent product that had just gone on clearance that day because they were resetting The displays for seasonal products. We shopped closet storage for covered garment hanging and noticed the entire wall of hanger choices that would've been useful had we not recently replaced all of our icky hangers with good ones from Costco and McGuckins. When I need more it's likely I'll go there. I found space-saving shoe storage easily but was unhappy with the selections for boot storage and my feedback was considered. I've been trying to find bra storage, preferably hanging and two staff members brainstormed for suggestions. Our next stop was cosmetic storage and when that was either the wrong configuration, too expensive or both, a staff member looked for other ideas for me in other departments. They were closing so we didn't have time to find everything we needed in kitchen wares but I had time to notice they have a decent selection of cleaning tools as well as kitchen storage. We concluded that they have many useful and cool things that we don't necessarily need but really liked. The staff are great and I believe the main cause is that they are working for a good company that values them and understands that treating the employees well leads to and improved bottom line for shareholders. That's a value that seems to be forgotten in a lot of companies but is important enough to me to put my money where my mouth is. Yes, maybe Target has better prices but is Target the corporate model I really value? Home Depot has (maybe) better prices in some categories than McGuckin Hardware in Boulder? Maybe sometimes but again, Home Depot isn't the model I care to support. Our economy relies on the activities of people especially if we believe this is a service-based economy. Therefore I'm happy to see the corporate model that understands that, provides good service and competitive prices for their merchandise. The Container Store does that. I like that. read more

My wife and I have spent several thousand dollars at The Container Store this year to organize our house. WE HATE THE STICKERS that they put on everything. The adhesive destroys the plastic and looks UGLY. It really irritates me that we pay premium prices for their containers then they're all ruined by the sticker adhesive. They look like hell if you leave the stickers on. They look like hell if you try to take the stickers off. If you use "Goof off" it ruins the plastic. If you use a razor blade it scratches it. I just as well buy the cheap containers from Walmart. Why can't The Container Store use a less destructive sticker adhesive ? read more

Just finished a shopping trip to the container store. I just wanted to say how great all the staff is.

Very nice selection of items, and the employees are generally friendly and helpful. But as occasionally happens I had a distasteful encounter with an older employee working with the Elfa system. And as some older women can be, she is a sexist moron who assumed that because I am a woman that I am incapable of installing the system myself. So I was subjected to many patronizing questions and comments. For example, I asked about the linear weight capacity of the different types of shelving. Her ignorant response: "It depends on how it's installed." No, you moron, it doesn't. I asked her to cut a hang track precisely where I asked, and she argued with me that it was too close to one of the holes. Then she deliberately cut it wrong so it was further away from the hole than I wanted, making it shorter than I wanted. For what it's worth I measured the hang track to hit ever possible stud. But no, I must not be doing it correctly because I'm a woman, and no woman can be any smarter than she is, which is to say not at all. I really hope this $&#* gets fired. Next time I need to install a system if she's there I am driving to another store (even though this one is two miles from my house) or switching to Ikea. read more
