5/25 Well! well!--- well! well! what have we here? A Container Store in Garden City. The only Container Store I remembered was in White Plains NY and that is out of my way. Going in and finding exactly what I wanted made the shopping spree more than wonderful. The store was clean and the product in the section I was in, needed a lot of attention, however I did manage to find something at an awesome price. After picking out my treasured piece, I looked around the store for a few minutes more and then I headed over to the cashier where the service I received got better and better and better. SERVICE* So in reality, the service was GOOD because I found the container store. That's having a store available in the town I was visiting. The service got BETTER because they had what I needed, at a reasonable price and it's availability. The service was at its BEST when I checked out and paid less at check out and, not only that, I'm excited now.... The cashier left me dumbfounded when she put a Bed, Bath, & Beyond (BB&B) coupon in my bag. I was literally like, what's this. What's happening, what's going on. And then she told me that The Container Store will be stocking BB&B products in the store really soon. TOUCHDOWN!! IYKYK if you didn't, NYK! I just made that last part up to keep the acronyms flowing. It's Now You Know. But in all seriousness, I can't wait to get back to shopping here. Sadly, this is one of the two closest Container Stores to me now that a lot of them closed down. Thankfully, the drive here was worth it. I ordered something online to pick up here to save on the shipping fee. It's located in a big-ish strip mall near other prominent brands like Trader Joe's and Paris baguette. There were a lot of parking spaces but the lot was def a bit packed around noon on a Saturday. The container store itself was very big and organized. All of the heavily discounted goods were to the front of the store, and they sure caught my eye. I was assisted with promptly. The whole transaction for pickup took about 10 minutes, most of which I think the worker spent some time looking for it in the back. I'd come back here again if I'm in the area. read more

I have never been in a Container Store that I liked. Well, there's a first time for everything. Very clean, well lighted, no obstructions (cases of merchandise) in the aisles. Shelves are well stocked and well merchandised. With a sufficient number of employees to help. Still pricey, though. read more

What a great place to find any type of storage containers. My wife and I had specific needs for storing various kitchen items and thought we would come here. All prayers were answered. The store is very big and bright. The isles were clearly labeled so it's easy to find your way around here. They have a custom section too for closets. We were looking for containers to hold various flours. They have about 12 different options. If you can't find what you need here, the chances are that it does not exist. We were also looking for drawer dividers, again, we had 12 different choices. The staff here has always been extremely helpful and courteous and has assisted us many times making an effective choice. Their pricing is fair for the quality of the products they carry. You can organize any room in your house or office from the products here. Friday evening 7pm. No crowd. I really enjoy walking around this place and seeing all the ways a container is available to suit your smallest or biggest of needs. It's pricier than other retail stores that sell a decent amount of the same size/ shape containers. They offer more than just containers though. The staff is helpful and attentive to your needs and the place is kept clean and organized. It might even be good spot to do a small registry or gift a gift card to someone for. read more

I made an appointment to design Elfa system for my 6 closets. It took me 20 min to drive to the store and this designer Sara only spoke with me for 2 minutes. She made a copy of my measurements, barely asked any questions, and told me she would send me the design. And then she just ghosts! 2 weeks have passed, nothing was sent and it's such a waste of time! I don't understand this type of extreme service and poor management. read more

I wanted to do an online and pickup order to save an extra few bucks but that was out of the question. I went on the website to purchase their 3-tier rolling cart on sale, but they said pickup wouldn't be for at least 5 hours! So I just went to the store and bought it. Unfortunately, I didn't see the damage on it until I got home and loaded the cart. There are 3 dents along with the top level of the cart split by the corner. I wanted to return and exchange but my husband said "it's only $30. It's not worth it. By the time we drive all the way back there again and stand in line to get a new one, we already lost so much time." So I agreed and now I just keep staring at the dents lol Bright side: The store was organized once we got there. The item was in the aisle it stated on the website, there was no mess around, several cashiers were open, etc. my only disappointment was the packaging once it was opened. read more

Its not hard for me to now relate to that one friend of mine that boarderline obsessed with this store. The only passing thought I had, was a vision of super store of oversized Tupperware, which wasn't very far from wrong. Storing a significant Rock n ROLL memorbilia collection fit for the Lourve, all in 24×14xX clear Sterlite containers. Its like --- a real drag man. Super sales rep Jimmy was on the spot, wisking me around the aisles making recommendations for each of the three memorbilia categories I was focusing on. My time with Jimmy requires special mention, as his service and assistance easily ranks among the top ten percent of my top purchasing experiences. Prices do run high, therefore semi cost prohibitive when looking to buy close to one hundred, so I snatched up just a few for now as more research needs to be done. read more

She is super professional with exquisite attention to detail. She knew all the details for proper shelving height for different types of clothing and gave us the right design for what we needed. Great store everything in one place that I need . My wife has almost 1 million shoes! (hahaha) No not really , but I have 6 pair and think that's a lot. Anyway we need to organize her shoes. This shopping expedition included photos of probable candidates... of course need to pass my wife's inspection before making purchase. I know better than to get things without her okay (also hahaha). Was very pleased with the nice stainless rolling clothes rack that we got for the holidays (she has three closets I have one )..but she needed this one also. It's all good. There is a container for just about every possible item you could think of. The prices seemed ok for what it was, not to high or low. ZOMG! Let me start off by saying I LOVE containers, and storage, and all things alike! I had only been to one of these once before but it was the small outlet center version. This location is HUGE. To the left is everything you could need to store your kitchen supplies (or body parts) and to the right is your closet's BFF. Everything is very neat and organized (for now). The prices are right. The staff is friendly and helpful. And they have multiple styles of each item. So you didn't like that wine rack? Here's 10 more in different styles. They also offer a registry. In-store pick-up is via a touch screen right when you walk in. Just lovely. I can't wait to return and blow part of my paycheck on storage supplies. read more

Another fabulous addition to Old Country Rd... The Container Store in Westbury!! For those who don't know - The Container Store is the best place to get all the different types of baskets, bins, & buckets you could imagine. How can you not love that? This location is no different than any of the other Container Stores when it comes to stock, what makes it different it the layout. The store is designed in a giant U, with the doors up front and the cash registers right in the middle. While I found the baskets I was looking for it took me a little longer than I think it would have taken in either of the Manhattan stores, but the staff on the floor was helpful and pointed me in the right direction. Overall the store is clean / organized & well stocked. It's location, right in the new Westbury Commons plaza, has plenty of parking and is easy to get to. And did I mention its right next door to Trader Joe's? B/c it is. :-) Two of my favorite stores right next to each other? Love it. read more

Shipped goods came damaged. Went to return today. THis is what happened: Since they do not have a complaints department, I am using this forum to talk and complain against an employee of The Container Store, Mr. Alfredo Sacco, a supervisor the Garden City, New York store. We had ordered two packages of sweater storage bags (each package contains two) at your Garden City NY store, which they shipped to us since they did not have it available in the store, about 2 weeks ago. One of the bags was torn in one of the packages. We went to the store to return the damaged bag and get a new one (we did not have the one bag that we already used in the package, we took the other unopened package and the shipping bag). We asked that just the one bag be exchanged. The clerk at the counter stated that she needed to speak to a manager to get permission, which is entirely understandable. The manager, Mr. Alfredo Sacco, as he was walking up, stating from a distance that they will not exchange anything unless we have both the pieces and the package. We tried to explain to him what the issue was and what we were proposing, although he did not want to listen to us - responding - do not raise your voice - I said - I am not raising my voice - his response - "Leave the store or I will call the cops. Our security will take you out" . My response - "call the cops, I am not going anywhere" - to which, I believe he did not have an answer, because he turned to the store clerk asking what the actual problem was! Finally!! He did do what we had asked for, but this is not how you treat your customers - we are from India and my wife was dressed in traditional Indian clothes - is this a racist thing that The Container Store in Long Island, NY and elsewhere promotes or condones? As a matter of fact, when my wife asked him to apologize, his answer was "just leave the store" and walked away. I am sure the company executives will not treat this as serious, but it is to me, and they have lost a customer. I am sure I will repeat this on social media. I would not wish this on any other customer no matter wherever he or she is from. read more

I love the ideas you get from the container store...not so in love with the prices! This one seems smaller than the one in Manhattan, but definitely less crowded! I came during the week, so I can only imagine how people squeeze through the small isles on the weekends! What's great about this new location is the Trader Joe's next door, as well as a Blooomingdales Outlet in the same shopping center! The first shop to open in Westbury's crown jewel of shopping, The Gallery, the Container Store is truly a shopping experience. Sure you could buy containers and home accoutrements at nearby Walmart and Target, but the Container Store is a shopping experience! Great place to pick up some containers, hence... Container store! They sell everything from pet containers to lunch boxes and furniture as well. I recently purchased a Elfa shelving unit and the staff who helped us was amazingly helpful. She approached me asking if I needed help while other staff that walked by me did not care even when I asked for help. She was very knowledgeable and went to the stockroom to get everything I needed for my shelving unit. On another note, always compare prices to online. Sometimes I find items cheaper on Amazon but sometimes its the same price. read more

The new "POP" (probably stands for "Point of Purchase") login at the cash register is extremely maddening! It's Sunday. There are only three registers open. Why then should a customer, before any items can even be scanned, have to log in? Why can't The Container Store just give everyone those little key chain membership cards (like CVS) so that this process can be expedited? Why not use the Waldbaums or Trader Joe's model and do away with loyalty programs altogether? God knows this place makes plenty of money. And what if I did not have an e-mail address or a phone number I wanted to give out? What if I didn't give a feces, not even a fart, about this new point of purchase customer tracking system? There are better ways to track customer trends/preferences. Checking out is slow enough as it is! Putting another annoying system for people to log into before any item can be scanned is just aggravating. Not everyone has seven days a week to hang out (i.e., retired), there are those who need to use Sundays efficiently to run errands, spend quality time with family/friends, etc. Come on. i came here to buy a new utensil organizer they had many to choose from. traditional plastic, mesh wire and wood bamboo. i originally purchased the mesh but when i brought it home i realized the bamboo would fit in our draws. I signed up for the Pop Star rewards program which only took a few minutes to fill out in my information on the touch screen tablet. the nice thing about the program is they will send you emails about store promotions new items etc. when i had to make my return the return was simple! when i signed up for the Pop star program my return did not require a receipt because they can locate the purchase through their system. the only negative i had was the wait online took a little while because with only two cashiers they were having customers sign up for the reward program which if you are not computer savvy can take you few more minutes. But when it was my turn i was greeted with a smile at the register and the lady was very friendly. read more

We bought wall-mounted Elfa shelves here. Sandy, our designer, helped us spec out the pieces and we received good service while in the store. The shelves were also available for pickup on schedule. However, once we got the shelves and started putting them on the wall, we realized that they were cut-to-length in a very shoddy manner. The extra grill portions that were cut seemed to be simply snipped off with bolt cutters. The nubs were very sharp. Furthermore, two Elfa wire shelves were unable to share the same arm bracket because there wasn't enough room in the bracket to accommodate for the poorly trimmed nubs, which stuck out. A call to their Texas customer service center did yield us a $25 gift card. But in the end we had to use an angle grinder and our own labor to grind down the extra nubs on the shelves. 2nd bad review I have ever written: This location may have solid Container Store product but I had a terrible customer service experience at checkout. Male cashier let a pushy customer cut the line I had been waiting in for ten minutes to make a return. When I let cashier know that it was not cool to let him cut in front of everyone he got extremely rude and said, "what do you expect me to do about it?" When I asked to speak to manager to express my frustration, she was extremely patronizing and only responded by asking if I wanted a bag for my purchase. For the prices this store is charging they should invest in better quality employees and management. Understanding this cashier did not represent the entire staff (lady cashier in front of me seemed terrific as were the folks on the floor). read more

One star because I have to choose at least one to write a review. I ordered $178 worth of merchandise on April 25th and received a confirmation that it would take 2 weeks just to ship it. Okay, I waited that 2 weeks, then 3, then emailed requesting an update. I got back a 'sorry it's taking so long' response with a promise they were working on it. 2 weeks later same routine, my email, their response that they were working on it. It has now been an entire month and they quit even responding to my emails. I tried phoning their 866 CONTAIN NUMBER only to sit through the recording til it says 'press this number for customer service', only to press it and be disconnected. Very, very slick. Don't trust this company to mail your purchased once they've charged your credit card. Be Aware. read more
