I'm one of those don't EVER cut my hair and just color the grays kind of gals. I have had long hair since I was in elementary school and have refused bangs, highlights, and layers. It's a PAIN to style because it takes forver to style/blow dry. My hair is now curly as opposed to straight as a board as it was when I was younger. However, I had been thinking of cutting off 10 inches for locks for love (and since it's been a HOT summer!). I went in with the news and immediately Nicole was super excited, but cautiously optimistic. She knows I don't do "change" with my hair well. I am her most boring client! She wanted to be sure I was comfortable making such a drastic change. I confirmed my intent as I had been thinking about it for several months and our adventure began! That same day, three other lucky ladies were chopping off their hair for charitable wig donations. So it was definitely a team effort across the board and made it more fun! I brought 4-5 pictures ranging from super short to should length. We reviewed and discussed each one. Utimately, we went with an in between cut so it wouldn't be such a drastic change. Nicole's recomendation was spot on because it was a shocking change. I absolutely LOVE my new "short" hair (just above shoulder length). She also recomended a different hair wig company that gave children wigs for FREE (instead of charging them like Locks for Love). She knew exactly how to rubber band the hair for submission and took care of everything. I spent at least a week running my fingers through my hair in complete awe after it was done. It felt SO light! It was EASY to style (curly OR straight!!). I LOOKED and FELT young!! and NO TANGLES omg!! I didn't want to wash it for fear I would never be able to replicate how great it looked and felt. Ultimately, it's been so much easier to style and I can still wear it up when I workout (!!). Rachel is a badass lady and I always love coming in to chat, hear about her latest life adventures... oh, and cut my hair done, too! I've had numerous cuts, colors and highlights and I always walk out feeling fabulous. More importantly, I'm still happy months later as the cut and colors grow out beautifully. Both Rachel and Carolyn did the hair for me and my wedding party and it was such a wonderful experience. They allowed us to bring in our own food and drinks and come in way too early so that we could have the salon all to ourselves. Everyone looked and felt like a movie star that day. What else can I say? Rachel gives product recommendations, style suggestions, free bang trims and is always the first to offer me a glass of wine. It is my favorite "treat yo self" destination.

But she did, and I'm glad I called. Rachel is good at what she does, and she's also really fun to talk with while she takes care of my hair. She said she would try to fix it because it was short. I responded you knew how long my hair was when you took the appointment, if you couldn't braided short hair you should not have scheduled it. She then told me not to yell at her, because she had been yelled at enough and was having a bad day. I told I had been having a bad week because she didn't render the service I paid for and she wasn't going to have an attitude with me. I said I wouldn't be back and she said good don't come back. When you work in the public you don't take your personal issues out on your clients. Mind you she was late for both appointment. if you cannot provide a service, don't say you can and get mad when you are called out. For more proof go to my Facebook page and see what she did. TLDR: My super healthy, long hair has been damaged beyond repair by this salon and it will take…read moreyears to grow out. I've spent a couple of months thinking through how to write this review, because I didn't want to give criticism until I was absolutely sure about what went wrong. But even after all this time I am suffering from the results of my balayage here. First of all, I have been getting my long, dark brunette hair balayaged for 6 years. I am not a newbie to this. I've had everything from light blond balayage to purple, and my hair has remained healthy through the expertise of stylists and olaplex. I had recently moved from NYC and read amazing reviews about this salon, so I booked an appointment. I carefully explained exactly what I wanted to my stylist: a subtle, dark mahogany balayage only lifted 2 levels to minimize damage. I should have known something was going catastrophically wrong when the stylist insisted on putting my bleached/processing hair under a heat lamp for 40 minutes. She definitely brought my dark brown hair up way beyond two levels, and it's most reflected in how extremely damaged my hair is now. It is brittle, breaking, and constantly looks like a giant frizzy knot now. I've tried everything to restore some health - olaplex treatments, protein and hydrating treatments - but it's at the point where my hair is damaged beyond help. The only option is years of regrowing it out, or cutting it all off. I probably would not feel as bad about the damage if the highlights and color came out good - but it did not. My stylist's first attempt at the toner turned my hair a horrifying, streaky vampire/clown/fire engine red (see photo for reference). Red flag #2 was when she told me this looked great and sent me home. Well, when I got home I realized it was unacceptable and asked her to retone it, which she agreed to do, though she seemed a bit defensive when I came back a couple days later. With help from her manager, she retoned it and it turned out better, but still streaky. I accepted that this was as good as it would get. But I feel like I made a $250+ mistake coming here. My stylist clearly wasn't experienced enough working with dark brunette hair.

She's been my stylist ever since and has become the stylist for many of my friends and family. Alicia is kind, friendly, and I always look forward to the appointment. The quality of her work and products speaks for itself. We have done many colors and styles through our time together and I always get so many compliments. The last several years we have done vivid blues and greens. I have never had a color that stays longer and makes my hair feel healthy. The color doesn't fade and covers my grays so well, which says a lot about the quality of the products she uses. I usually go in every 3/4 months to get it recolored and it's only because my grays are growing in. Alicia also started cutting my kiddos hair when he was 1 and she is so good with him. She is great at listening to what he wants and making sure that she really understands. She is great with him and he loves going in to see her to get a fresh do. The pic below is from my most recent visit at the Denver location in April where I saw Hannah for a partial balayage. Hannah did a great job brightening up my blonde while also understanding that I didn't want too much maintenance (I like to touch up my roots every 3-4 months). My face framing in the front is a lot lighter as well! The balayage here is amazing and is REAL balayage not the fake "foilayage" most salons do where they try to sneak in foils which ends up in really harsh lines when your roots grow out. I won't let anyone else touch my hair except for the women at this salon. That being said, I'd recommend bringing in photos of what you want or taking a look at the stylists Instagrams beforehand. Color at Sweep tends to be on the more natural side so if you want a drastic change be sure to make it known and expect the prices to reflect that. Everyone is very kind and welcoming. The salon interior has a great relaxing vibe with complimentary drinks (have to try the oat milk latte).

I am getting constantly get compliments and feel like I have movie star hair, even when I style it myself! At the same time, the master did not even check the quality of the coloring. The service is very bad: I asked to dry my hair, but it turned out that I had to separately order the drying of my hair after dyeing and in advance. I was ready to pay extra, but the hairdresser did not have time. I have a question: how can the hairdresser make sure that the hair is dyed correctly without drying the hair? Or does the hairdresser not have to make sure that the hair is dyed well? I left the salon with wet hair, and after drying my hair at home, I saw what a terrible job she did. Now I'm looking for a new hairdresser.
