If I had to describe Katy, I would say that she's professional, efficient and friendly. She cuts through all the fluff and gives it to you straight. Other Agents I've worked with have always been the type to just yes me to death. I sold my apartment in June 2019 but wasn't in an exact rush to find a place but, at the same time, didn't want to wait too long. My wife and I were also considering moving to another borough, which would be our first foray out of Brooklyn. We decided that Queens is where we would move to and did preliminary research through mid-August but needed someone with more experience in the borough. That's when I was introduced to Katy. She did the preliminary paperwork, asked us a few questions, I gave her our parameters and she got to work. Every week she had 4 - 6 homes ready for us to see. She advised us on the ups and downs of not just the homes we saw but the neighborhoods. In some cases, she would outright tell us the house we were looking at wasn't worth it. She would negotiate like a pro and would get back to us very quickly. We went into contract at the beginning of Oct and closed by mid-November. Do you need an attorney? an inspector? an estimate on what it would take to reno? She's your person. She is a one-stop-shop for everything you may need for your search and things you never knew you needed. It's unfortunate I didn't meet her prior to selling my apartment as I'm sure she would've helped me get a healthier profit. Be very careful to ask questions and then double check documents. Tonight we met Paul Rosen of Corcoran to view a Brooklyn apartment listed on Trulia as $2,063. We found the experience to be incredibly misleading, and the agent we met at the property was outright fraudulent. Rent was actually $2,250, not the $2,063 that is listed. This was not too odd for us, and we understand it is a commonly used tactic. But we also EXPLICITLY asked about deposit and application details (both brokers fee and application fees) and we were told point blank that it would only require passing a credit check (no fee) and paying the first month's rent--with him begrudgingly referencing that the law had changed to make it this simple. We were surprised because we've lived in NYC for over 6 years and have never known this to be true. He reaffirmed this to be the case. We then got an application document saying it would be 1 month security ($2250) + first month rent ($2250) + $85 applicant fee (x2 for me and my girlfriend) + a $3712.50 broker fee. We emailed to compare this against what we were told in person and he apologized if there was a "miscommunication." All told, that is $6,319.50, or just over 3 times, more than we were told it would cost when we found the listing. This is misleading at best and predatory at worst for new apartment-hunters in New York. Beware of this broker firm. Ask lots of questions. Get confirmation. Read every word of what you're sent. read more

I did not have a good experience with them. The sad part is, I just haven't been having any luck with realtors lately. This just added to the wild and tragic realtor rollercoaster ride that I'm on. Just repeated sequences of realtors that don't care, and have issues delivering outstanding customer service. I was working with a realtor on a few places of interest. I immediately knew something was wrong from the very start because the realtor seemed extremely unresponsive. I was a bit confused, but i thought maybe it was all in my head. Why would a realtor making thousands of dollars being a tour guide, be unresponsive and not interested in making money? To my surprise, i found that realtor. Oh, yes! A unicorn indeed. I won the jackpot (repeatedly). Almost every realtor I've been working with lately seems uninterested in making an income. Here is the thing, we are in a pandemic. I probably misread the situation when channels 1, 2, 4, 5, 7 and 11 news repeatedly reports on NYC real estate being down in the dumps and the percentage of unoccupied apartments keep rising. If that is the case, then realtors aren't making any money. Then what is going on with all the unresponsiveness? The realtors I've been working with must clearly be pocketing 25K every month because they all seem uninterested in showing places that are up to my standards. They won't even answer simple questions (i.e. rent stabilized, duration of the lease, name of the management company, is there an onsite super). I'm a potential tenant. Please do some work if you want 50% commission. I wish the agent, and all prior agents good luck in their endeavors. Glad everyone is getting 25K plus that i got the cold shoulder, and that my commission check meant nothing to them. read more

Although my dealings with the Corcoran Group ended over a year ago, I do know that the sleazeball who I dealt with is still working there. I have no problem calling this guy out, his name is Wassim Fakhereddine, and he was easily the most obnoxious real estate agent I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. My friend and I were looking for 2 bed room apartments in Brooklyn, and we found a great listing online. Unfortunately, this listing was controlled by the aforementioned Wassim, who not only showed up over 30 minutes to show the apartment, but didn't even have the patience to memorize our names (collective letter count between the two of us: EIGHT). When we decided to take the apartment, Wassim never picked up the phone, put roadblocks in our way, and even had the balls to tell us what we could and couldn't afford after peering into our bank accounts. When we finally signed on the place, he presented us with a bill for over $5000 in fees for a collective hour and half of work - and the kicker? the invoice said "Dear INSERT CLIENT NAME HERE" at the top. If you can avoid working with the Corcoran Group and Wassim, do it. They're miserable. read more

I couldn't agree more with other reviewers--BROOKE SAFFORD is a nightmare. She is unprofessional, and openly (but not successfully, woof-woof!) flirted with my married brother. She's also entitled and is the worst know-it-all you'll ever meet. I appreciate and respect confidence in a professional, but, trust me, this level of arrogance was simply unfounded. I was looking to buy a two bedroom apartment in Brooklyn. After telling her the amount I wanted to spend, and the neighborhoods of interest, she told me I could only afford to buy in Bedford Stuyvesant, Bushwick, or Lefferts Gardens--none of which I had mentioned. This is just plain ridiculous because I had seen SEVERAL listings in the neighborhoods I wanted to focus on in my price range, and I actually working with another broker and ended up buying a beautiful place in Boerum Hill. Now I know she wanted to push me to buy in the neighborhoods where she has exclusive listings and would make the most commission. Just gross. read more

I'm with a lot of the other reviewers. I have not had great experiences with this particular location. Despite having some really great listings on their website, the chances of actually seeing one of them seems to be a rare occurrence. When renting, I spent hours online finding different places I wanted to look at, and as Corcoran was the only place that seemed to have this particular apartment, had to call and leave messages to see the place. We ended up renting the apartment, but it took about three trips to the office since Wassim proceded to lose his copy of our lease and made us return multiple times to finish up paperwork that we had already done. For the sole activity of unlocking the door to the apartment to let us in, we had to pay an exorbitant 15% fee. Secondly, we had thought about buying a place, and were somewhat bullied into using a realtor from this location. (Continuous calls - "Oh, you must list me as your agent, etc"), yet when we actually put an offer in on a place, never got a written counter offer (everything was done via conversations through the realtors), and the agent didn't seem to be pushing for us, as the sellers were also listing through Corcoran agents. Really, Barbara Corcoran looks like a nice lady when she shows up on the Today Show. Why can't she hire agents that aren't so aggravating? read more

I had a very positive experience with Corcoran Williamsburg. I got in touch with one of this location's agents, David Nilsen, to ask him about some of his rental listings. He responded right away, and took me to see the places that week. He even showed me some other ones I hadn't been aware of. He was kind, knowledgeable and attentive and I never felt pressured. As it turns out I ended up renting through David and I love my new apartment. Renting in NYC is no fun but David Nilsen really took the hassle out of the whole thing. Doing this on my own would mean dealing with ridiculous Craigslist and these other so-called real estate firms that won't even deign to call you back. So, the broker fee is well worth it. While certain other agents around who might be scummy, there is definitely at least one who's honest and professional. read more

I trusted him so much and thanks to him I was able to buy my dream place in Williamsburg. He was always so patient and upbeat, even when I was about ready to call the whole thing off. He listened to exactly what I wanted and seemed to know better than I did what would fit my list of demands. Hence the trust. He was never pushy and was also very honest throughout the process. And I felt comfortable to ask any questions at any time. This review is specifically for Aydan Sahin, a Corcoran agent who's based out of the company's Williamsburg location. Aydan was the broker who recently posted a listing to a gorgeous 6BR townhouse in Crown Heights -- a home that I'm happy to say we got in the end -- and she was a real pleasure to work with. Prompt, punctual, mild-mannered and very competent, Aydan facilitated the whole application and lease-signing process with such professionalism. Of course, it can be painful to part with a 15% broker fee but to me, it seems that sometimes you have to bite the bullet if you want to get your dream home. (I've been slapped with a 15% broker fee twice now for two different Brooklyn homes -- one through Corcoran and one through another agency... it undoubtedly hurts but I haven't regretted it... Of course, if you can avoid it, do that.) Bottom line: if you have to go with a broker, and a Corcoran broker at that, I'd highly recommend Aydan. Unlike other brokers who I've worked with over the years -- agents who have been annoying, pushy, manipulative and garrulous to a fault -- Aydan is very kind and helpful. read more

We had a great lease lined up with the landlord but Quinn repeatedly undermined the application and wasn't willing to negotiate a more sensible brokers fee ($4.5k) for a 2.5k apartment that was found ONLINE. Please, if you do nothing but read this sentence: Do not work with Wassim Fakhereddine. (I was told I needed to "revise" my complaint, and I gladly will. After posting this I received messages from other yelp users thanking me for being honest as they too had miserable experiences working with Wassim) When we worked with him he was at the Corcoran Park Slope office, currently he's workig at Warren Lewis realty. We moved July 1st into an apartment on 4th street in park slope with a landlord living below us. No exaggeration-the day after we moved in, the landlord asked us to pack up our things and move out - that we were making too much noise. It was 12PM and we were unpacking... Not only did Wassim tell us that he had a relationship with the landlord and how great a guy he was but also that he rented the apartment before. It's funny because after speaking with the neighbors we found out that the landlord harassed the last tenants just as badly and they left due to an eviction as well. We were taken to court only after a few months of living there based on "noise complaints" ending with us not paying rent per legal advice. So not only had we just spent several thousand moving in/ on a broker fee, we now had to pay a lawyer fees. It's interesting that the apartment on 4th street has such high turnover. It's a gold mine for any unprossional, un-ethical agent willing to rent it. They walk away with twice the commission in one year because tenants can't complete their lease, living in an environment in which they are harraseed day and night. I can't even begin to explain how high our stress levels were coming home to an aggressive stranger screaming at you at the bottom of your stairwell. We called Wassim as soon as the issues began and continued leaving messages for him in the 2 months following our july 1st move in. We emailed multiple times asking for help with this issue, evening ccing the office manager Patrick Brennan. Not a single person return our calls, or emails at any time. The fact Wassim could subject us to such awful and unhealthy living conditions, and be aware of them then do absolutely nothing to help us, speaks on what kind of agent he is and how he conducts his business. read more

Working with Corcoran was okay... not spectacular or really terrible, but if given the choice between spending 5 minutes on The Corcoran Group's website to find a decent place and spending hour scouring Craig's List just to avoid dealing with a slimy real estate agent, I would gladly go for the latter. When my mother worked in real estate, the agent's fees were included in the rent, but without prior knowledge of the business, one might still be astonished to find completely after the fact, that in addition to the deposit and rent, a $2000 fee was to go to the Real Estate Agent! Also, the games the coniving nitwit played by telling me one thing and my mother (who is my guaranter) another was just ridiculous. My mother asked the man to put my boyfriend on the lease, he told me it would be better not to, makig it sound as though my mother had agreed. Then, he told us that we would have to pretend as though my boyfriend doesn't live here to the super who we see nearly every day. We ran into us later and the only thing he asked is was if my boyfriend was "laying low." Excuse me, but what? He knew from the beginning that we would both be living here and he pulled this little stunt just to cover his butt. As far as real estate goes, it will be very rare that you find anyone halfway decent to work with. They do exist (well, I'm hoping), just not at the Park Slope Corcoran Group. read more

In contrast to most of the other dozen or so brokers we worked with, Chris was patient, responsive, honest, and accommodating throughout the process. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because Corcoran's commission is a ridiculous 15%, which I found difficult to justify even for great service. Don't bother working with this agency unless you are prepared to be heartbroken. My husband and I saw a place on the website that we were interested in. After trying to contact the agent by phone and by email, we received a return call 2 days after the fact. I went and saw the apartment and really wanted it. We put in an application the next day which was on a Saturday. Near impossible to get the agent (Dan) on the phone that day. He didn't get back to us until Monday to let us know it would be a few days until the owner made a decision. We thought it was strange that we didn't have to put down a deposit while our application was being reviewed. Now I know why. Forward to today--Wednesday. Today we found out that the owner took another tenant that put in an application AFTER US! Not because their credit was better than ours or because we couldn't afford the place (we could) but because the other applicant makes more money than us. In the meantime, there were two other apartments that we had seen and liked but passed on hoping to get this place, and we also stopped looking for half a week because we didn't see any reason why we wouldn't be accepted for the apartment we wanted. The agent did, however, let us know that another apartment might be opening up in that building and that he would let us know. Really? We're not good enough for the unit we wanted but might be for another unit in the same building? And why would we trust someone who clearly kept us on the back burner to see if he could find someone who makes more money than us but may not, in fact, be better tenants? GFY Corcoran. read more

I cannot say enough about the Forray Team at Corcoran. Not only did they introduce me to the apartment that I purchased in 2007 but sold it for me 7 years later. They brought me the price we agreed to which is not the norm in my experiences with previous brokers. The Forray Group was also a lifesaver when I needed them to find and me an apartment in Greenpoint in 2 days! I contacted them at 10am on a Wednesday and they found me a place by 1pm the same day. Once I told them I wanted the apartment they negotiated for me and I had the keys in hand by 6pm the following day for my move on that Friday morning. The first thing I did before I purchased a car was to give them a call to find out if they knew of any available spots and they found me one within a week....they simply are the go to people in North Brooklyn. read more
