Ahhhh....such great memories of this place. My parents have owned a cottage in Gladwin for over 20 years. We've been coming to the Corner House for a long time. This unique ice cream parlor has a large deck outside to sit and enjoy the tasty treats being served up inside. Once you're inside, you can peruse the many, many different flavors of ice cream. Every time I come here (maybe 5 or 6 times per summer) I purchase myself a delightful single scoop (which is more like 3 heaping scoops) waffle cone. Their waffle cones are stupendous! My favorite flavor has got to be the blueberry waffle cone. It's vanilla ice cream with blueberries and waffle cone pieces mixed in. Fantastic. I was at the Corner House on 6/1/13...still awesome. The staff are very friendly and patient...I simply cannot decide...that's why I always get the same thing. The last time I was there, I had the girl behind the counter mix me up a delicious vanilla and orange sherbet shake. I was amazed at how large it was. It tasted great as well. If you're up for the challenge, there's also the Pig's Platter. I have never attempted this, but the Pig's Platter consists of 2 bananas, 5 large scoops of ice cream and 5 toppings. Whipped cream and nuts are optional. If you take it all down, you get your name on the wall. Some have done it multiple times in a day. Remember: just cash or check at this establishment. But if you're in Gladwin, a lot of small businesses are usually limited to cash or check. read more

Always a pleasure to go to the corner House. Ice cream is fresh and abundant. If you want a small cone don't expect it here LOL. Even the kids size is enough to take care of a craving. Their choices are amazing as well as the staff is welcoming and helpful. They never rush you. The dining room is always clean, and the porch is always full of rocking chairs for us to sit back and relax and enjoy a waffle cone. I love going to this place every time I am in the area and I will continue going. It just feels like home. read more

This is typically our favorite summer ice cream place however this visit was disappointing. They handed my friends ice cream to the wrong person. Then I found it disappointing to be paying $2 extra for a waffle cone and then have it handed out broken. Instead of replacing she gave me a cup for the broken piece. Cute little slice of Up North Americana. Everyone needs fond memories of getting an ice cream in the summer at their favorite spot, and this one is perfect. We visited on the Fourth of July, and it was bumpin' but the wait wasn't too bad. They had enough girls scooping and they seemed to have it down to a science. I couldn't count all the flavors available, but there are tons! I chose a Hudsonville chocolate malt ice cream kiddie scoop (which was still huge), and my husband got a Boston Cooler. Delicious They also have Ashby's ice cream. Lots of tables available inside and outside, as well as rocking chairs on the porch. No masks worn by any staff, one girl literally had her whole head inside the ice cream case scooping ice cream, her hair was hanging in the ice cream. Wearing of masks by patrons was not enforced either. Or were the limit of patrons let inside. Place was dirty. I had to pass. I work in a hospital with cancer patients. Did someone say ICE CREAM? Our family has been coming to Corner House for years and years. The "kids" behind the counter are ALWAYS friendly and welcoming. We never near Gladwin without stopping here once, twice...heck EVERY DAY we're near town. Usually we at least make it our way in, and then again on our way out. Huge Portion sizes, so pay attention to what the people in front of you have before you go ordering a double scoop. Great tasting ice cream. They have more than 50 flavors (maybe 75) to choose from. I've never ordered anything but ice cream on a cake cone, but family members have ordered shakes, sundaes, waffle cones, etc., and everyone is always happy. They have a huge sundae called a "pigs platter." if you eat it, you get bragging rights on the pigs list. My brother-in-law, visiting from SC did that one year. There can be a line out the door some days, but it typically goes quickly, and that's part of the fun. Typically open each year from Memorial Weekend to Labor Day weekend.
