During a recent trip to Nottingham, I stayed at the Mercure. I'd used yelp (of course) to search…read morethe area prior to the trip and came across this place. The pictures were ok and the price was too so I decided to stay here. I was booked into one of their suites and wasn't let down at all. The room was really spacious, with a really nice, large bed, a large living area and nice en suite bathroom. Small touches like a nespresso machine and complimentary soft drinks were in the room. The room was in really good condition, very clean, light and had really nice decor. (see the pictures) The staff were also really friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back and stay here. The location in the middle of town is ideal! Great hotel, great city!

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I took my…read morehusband here as a treat for his birthday along with tickets to see Guns N Roses at the Capital FM Arena. I had mentioned my husband's birthday to the staff as I asked them to have a bottle of wine waiting for us upon arrival, which they were more than happy to accommodate, and they also wrote him a little card along with some complimentary shortbread cakes and vouchers for two free drinks at the hotel bar. Such attention to detail and going out of their way to make our stay a good one was incredible, especially as we were only there for one night. I paid extra and went for a large executive room (shown in the photos I uploaded Room 201) at first glance it didn't look like you got a whole lot extra, but there is more space in the room, the bed is HUGE and one of the most comfortable night's sleeps I have ever had, and the shower was powerful and big enough for two ;) Despite being in the city centre, the noise level was minimal and the staff were friendly and helpful no matter what time of day, night or early morning we spoke to them! Breakfast was of good quality and had a lot of variety to choose from delicious all round. Would recommend and if I venture Nottingham way again, I will definitely be staying here!

Recently refurbished, now known as a Fayre and Square pub/restaurant, I went with my husband last…read moreSaturday (14th July) evening. We got there at 7.30pm, found the place to be very busy. We got a drink there was ONE barperson serving, and he said there was only ONE beer on draught, as he hadn't found time to change the barrels on the others then we waited (and waited) to be seated we saw only TWO waiting staff rushing round trying to serve AND clear tables, and after 15minutes, we were told that there would be 1 HOUR's wait for food. There were MANY tables still uncleared. Needless to say, we didn't want to wait, so left. All this, at the relatively early time on a Saturday evening. The manager cannot be managing very well! More staff needed!! POOR

We visited on the 24th March as a group of 10 for a shocking experience. We met as a family at the…read morerestaurant to have a meal but we were not impressed by the quality of the service or the food. The service was very slow and it took an extremely long time to get a drinks order or start the food order. Drinks finally arrived at the table 30 minutes after we sat down. One of the gin drinks came to the ya me with no strawberry garnish so this had to be sent back to the bar. The food was not up to scratch, the Stilton mushroom starter was not very good. The bread this came on was not very well toasted and barely warm at all, additionally in the mushroom sauce there was only about 3 slices of mushroom (possibly not even a whole mushroom per person) which felt like a massive cut to the kitchen and a shabby experience as a guest. The mains did not continue very well either. The food came out very slowly as if the waiters and waitresses did not care for our wait and this also impacted on some of the food being tepid and not full temperature. Steaks were over cooked and chips were stone cold. It had taken so long to get food by this point we didn't send anything back as it was in danger of taking even longer to come back out. The fajita main course was the tip of the iceberg. When this came out we enquired as to why there was no sour cream on the plate (sour cream is a crucial part of a fajita main as it cools the whole dish) the waiter said there is no sour cream left with no apology or remorse in the statement at all. This was a very strange experience as one of the nacho starters came out still with sour cream on. Toward the end of the meal the restaurants as died down with trade and I assume this meant that the staffs interest also died down. At no point in the meal we're we checked back on to see if everything was ok and we couldn't catch anyone for extra drinks so had to go up to the bar and order these to the table ourselves to avoid becoming thirsty. Overall for the money they got out of this 10 person table I don't think it was fair or justified. The waiters and waitresses did not care for us at all and the food was not of great quality. Please be wary if you come here as it may not live up to the expectations you would like.
