Came to London to study abroad for a month and stumbled (in and out) of this amazing pub. They are very welcoming and have great student deals. All of the bartenders are great, but Danny in particular really took care of me. They also play American music which helped me cure my homesickness (along with the pints). I would highly recommend this pub to anyone staying in the area. read more

So many memories have gone down at The Court. Soooooo many memories. Nicknamed the "yellow pub" - since it's part of a chain of pubs which hand out these yellow cards which give you discounts on certain drinks etc - this is where I would often come with my old roommates. We came here mostly because there was always such a random, diverse group of young people inside (since The Court is so close to University housing etc - there was always a good sprinkling of college students - as well as cute tourists etc.) I have particularly fond memories of The Court because it's where I first met my then boyfriend. It was at The Court where I would recruit his friends to help me with my math homework as I sipped on Strongbow. It was The Court where I would go my roommates to laugh about the week. And it was at The Court where my ex and I so appropriately met up - after his own "court hearing" due to a minor embarrassing incident of drunk public urination (def another story for another time...or maybe there's never a good time to tell this story). So yeah - if you're in the area, and looking for a fun casual place to go to meet people or bring a group of friends - The Court is worth a visit. It's by no means a destination spot - and you can actually get cheaper drinks down the road at the local pub (still trying to figure out the name of it!), but it's a place I will always remember with a smile. It's a place where alot of memories have and can go down. read more

The court in London is a fantastic place to get food drinks and spend time with friends 5/5!

Over a summer working in London, The Court became a second home to about 30 of us. The drinks were good and affordable, and there was enough seating for all of us. I swear we spent more time here than in our actual flats. The staff were all so fun and generously threw us a 4th of July bash. I racked up so many fond memories here over the course of a few months. It's a pub with beer, and I like pubs *and* beer: 3.5 stars. Douche-y clientele; big groups of 20 year old dudes getting wasted: -.5 stars Gruff security dudes (necessary because of the yobs above, to be fair): -1 star. Thus, a 2 star sort of place. The Court is a good place to enjoy a meal and the company of some semi-obnoxious UCL students enjoying a rip-roaring cheap pint good time. There are a few televisions with different games going on and the crowd is actually really friendly. The food here was good and also very affordable (I think it was less than £10 for a couple of pints and Fish and Chips), and they have some good offers on meals (buy one, get one free-type) during certain hours. It's nice that there is outdoor seating, although they don't allow you sit outside after a certain hour for some reason. I really enjoyed how friendly the bartenders were (they also seem to know many of the students and regular patrons by face or name), and of course it's probably a very typical London experience, so well worth visiting at least once, although I doubt you'll be able to resist visiting again. read more

The Court is a nice pub. I come here when I am working in London for lunch. They have a decent menu but you have to order and pay at the bar. The bar tenders are nice and knowledgeable. The food is very good with a fair selection. I had to learn how to eat and order here. First take a table, then select your food and remember your table number, proceed to the bar to order and pay, return to table, and finally food is delivered to the table. I really enjoy the look of this place and it does have good food for London. I have not been able to enter this place during it's peak evening hours. The pub is very busy with people hanging out of all doors. They also have some tables outside for eating and drinking patrons. read more

If I could give The Court 0 stars I would. I went on study abroad in 2008 at UCL and this place was the main hangout spot. Wasn't that great, but not that bad, and the yellow card was a nice feature. However, I had a major problem with the staff. I didn't know, but a friend of mine wasn't 18, and we were all regulars at The Court. His 18th came up and he celebrated it there and made the mistake of letting the staff know. There was no mention of a ban or anything, they even let us finish the night. The problem came later. I went back a few days later and the bartenders flat out ignored me. I'd stand at the bar and signal politely to bartenders to try and order something. They would serve people on either side of me but not me, I walked out after like 10-15 minutes of this and 1 ignored me after I KNOW I got her attention. Not my loss since I didn't need to be patronizing them, what with their £4 pints of Guinness and nasty food. My problem wasn't necessarily the ban, it was the passive way they went about it. Be straight, tell me to my face I'm banned and I understand. Instead, they wasted my time and made me look like a fool. The only thing I can recommend The Court for is demolition. read more

At night, this place is a definite 2 - It's impossible to get a table and the music/decor/clientele/smell all suck. But today, on the hottest day of 2011 so far (ok, it's March...), I've decided that in the daytime, it's a 4, sitting outside in the sun, with a really cheap pint. So I've given it an inbetween 3... If you are a student, can get a Yellow Card, and are not accompanied by people who are about to judge you: welcome to what your wallet will call "Heaven". The crowd mix is eclectic at best, or a plain definition of the chaos theory. I've never been able to pinpoint but two characteristics: studenty and pretty hammered. Which is kinda all you need to know. If, on the other hand, you are there to spend money at the full rate or are over the age of 21 please do yourself a favour and seek out a calmer and classier bay to drop your anchor. Unless picking up students (freshers in particular) is your cuppa tea, in which case be my guest. I'll wait for you in Potion. read more

This bar is small, hot, and gross. There are so many great places in the area and this is not one of them. The upstairs is like boiling and the downstairs is very crammed. Don't take a step into the bathroom or you'll land in an enormous puddle of urine. This bar is for students that have much lower standards than they should. There are no tables or space and the smell sucks. If you have any standards, avoid this place. read more

I am taking the court, into court for being so dirty. I don't mean the level of cleanliness, b/c I do LOVE a good dirty pub, but I mean overall atmosphere of the bar = Dirty. Being 22 years old and a recent graduate - I do enjoy a good bar with a significant student population. The Court provides an ample amount of this specific demographic with its close promixity to University residences. The Court has a significant amount of outdoor patio seating on a very busy intersections right on Tottenham Court Road. The Court has flat screens that consistently have Sky Sports on for our viewing pleasure. The Court has pitchers (4 pints) of beers for £10.10 (a random amount indeed) The afore mentioned positives of this establishment coupled with the hordes of students that populate its booths, tables, and bar area, essentially makes The Court a location that embodies everything a young person needs to have a good time. read more

Located right next to UCL's campus, this place is always packed with people. The food here isn't bad, but not great either. But then again, London food isn't great in general. It's a good place to start the night, and have a few beers before you go hard. read more

Kind of like Chili's for UCL students, with cheap beers and decent food if you're drunk and hungry. The beef burger was like a hockey puck, but the veggie burger with fries was actually pretty good. I'd order it again for 4 GBP. And, of course, the yellow card--your ticket to cheap pitchers of Carling beer to share. I recommend ordering 2 or 3 pitchers at a time on a Friday or Saturday night, because the bar wait is insane. read more

The Court is a Yellow Card pub on the Tottenham Court Road. It sits between about 5 student halls and consequently is very much a student pub. It has seats and the bar on the ground floor and then pool tables upstairs. It is incredibly generic, and has no particular merits by which to recommend it. Still, the drinks are cheap, as is the food on the menu, which is good for its price if not very special. In the summer the outside seats are a good place to watch the world go by. As these pubs go it is a fine place to spend some time, though best avoided on weekend nights. read more

DO NOT go to this pub. We waited nearly one hour to get our meal served, and served with no forks and knives and tissues. And the staff didn't care at all. That just walking around spend 20 minutes to find the forks leaving us looking at the food and cannot eat. What are you expect us to eat with? Our hands? Not mention the salmon and burger here taste like s**t. I wonder how such a terrible place becomes a pub. read more

As close to a local pub as we found. My husband and I came here on two occasions, one for breakfast and once for drinks. It's definitely more popular for the later. If you find yourself here in the am, there are a few sizes to choose from. I think the smallest option is adequate, my husband got the largest breakfast which was massive by American standards. The coffee or tea is self serve at the downstairs bar. Also, you need to go to the bar to order food but they will bring it up to you if you find a table upstairs. The staff was friendly and helpful as well. read more

So many evenings spent here watching football, watching pitchers disappear, and generally enjoying the good prices and good vibes of the Court. It's close to several university dorms, like LSE and UCL, so the student population is quite high, especially on game nights. Best to arrive early for a table...and sign up for the free yellow card for discounts on pitchers. read more

Went here yesterday for drinks after class. With its location close to the University of London and cheap drinks specials, this is the perfect place for an after school get together. Even though the bar has two floors the place was pretty packed for a Tuesday. There are tables and chairs downstairs and pool tables and good music upstairs. I've only been in London for about a month now, so it was great to go to a place where I can meet other people my age living in the city. Definitely will suggest this place to my friends to meet up after school and hope to go back for the waffles and ice cream which I've heard is amazing. read more

I often go here after dominating my football match and expect a delicious meal to support my massive muscular body and I am always left disappointed. Now I mainly just drink to give my muscles the energy they deserve, however lately they have stopped all offers on drinks apart from the "4 shots for 6 pounds" which doesn't help the muscle. The Court losing the respect of a dominating man is disrespectful to mankind, put some offers on and help the world out. PS The Barman could do with losing a few pounds and barmaids could flirt a bit more. read more

Before this Friday just gone, i would have highly recommended this pub to ANYONE! However after the way i was so poorly treated on Friday i don't even feel i can give this pub my custom any longer. For a fair few years now this pub has been like a local pub for myself and my family. I have shared many evenings and afternoons in this pub with my family and friends. On Friday, i popped into the pub for a few drinks after dinner with my friend for my birthday. Both being 23, i understand the importance of having ID. So i bought the first drinks at the bar without being asked for any ID at all. The second time i went up, i was asked for my ID which i provided but i was then quizzed about my friends ID which unfortunately she didn't have. I took on board the points being made by the...might i say incredibly grumpy manageress...however my point stood as i had been served once without being ID'd. After a discussion at the bar and agreeing politely we'd leave after finishing the drinks....we were then approached by the bouncer who had been sent over by the manageress. He was incredibly intimidating, his tone was beyond rude and he did not want to hear what i had to say about the situation at all. He was pushing me to leave without finishing our drinks when i had acted in no way to be forced out. When i mentioned his foul tone, he almost replied with a bit of a threat if thats what you'd call it saying "you don't know me. If i was angry, you'd know about it". Never in my time of visiting this pub have i ever been treated so badly. I will be making a formal complaint....and all i can say to the manageress....there is really no need to be so miserable. And as for the bouncer....i am not someone to feel intimidated by ANYONE. read more

Pub lunch is what I love about the Court. Priced at £3.50 up you can get a sunday roast with the fireworks. Isin't that a great price! They also do ale and cider by the barrell. During football season, the pubs gets lively for students from nearby residences pour in. I smile whenever I think of this place. When I studied at UCL, this was the perpetual meeting spot for my group of friends. Even if we went to a more upscale establishment, we'd always return here for a drink afterwards. I remember the food being quite delicious and surprisingly cheap. The only thing is, if you're an international student, sometimes they won't accept your state ID card and insist on a passport instead. read more

Gets packed in the evenings - if you're not a student then avoid from August-June. Decent pool tables upstairs, but generally extremely noisy in here. The music depends on what the clientele chose from the digital jukebox but is frequently pretty bad. read more

Located on Tottenham Court Road, The Court belongs to the chain of "Scream" pubs all over the country. With a standardised menu, The Court serves reasonably priced food and drink mostly to a crowd of students, the reason for this being that the "Yellow Card" (their loyalty scheme) can be bought for only a pound by a student and entitles them to a certain amount of money off each order. The interior of the pub was quite common and did not stand out much, but a plus point was that it was spread over two floors, providing extra space for when it got busy. Like most pubs, they have a TV which shows any major sports events that are happening, as well as piped music playing the charts. The upper level has two pool tables, and is also where the suprisingly clean toilets are located. The staff were friendly and the service was quite fast - no queuing up for ages just to get a drink. All in all, a good place to go at the beginning of a night out, a cheap place to have a few drinks before moving on to somewhere else for the rest of the night. read more
