We called because we had a couple of questions regarding our wedding SHE WAS EXTREMELY RUDE and had an attitude when you ask questions she would just say "did you not read the website" DO NOT book your wedding here I regret it already for $400 you can definitely find something better and someone who cares for your wedding day I'd rather cancel and loose the money than have my day ruined. read more

Our experience with my friends vow renewal was extremely disappointing. The officiant was very rude and wouldn't even let the bride read her own vows. Kind of odd that you can't read your own vows at your own wedding that YOU PAID FOR! The officiant was very strict, interrupting the ceremony to tell us to "be quiet" and "sit down," with the slightest whisper, or just a guest standing to take a quick photo. She made every guest INCLUDING the bride and groom wear a mask the ENTIRE CEREMONY, making it difficult to take decent photos. Be weary of the reviews placed on the website because they only post the positive reviews, I gave an honest review yesterday and it never got published..... go figure. I was very emotional on my wedding day. I nearly cried entering the building knowing I would marry the love of my life. But seeing the chaplain snap at my 80 year old grandpa who doesn't speak English while I'm walking down the aisle, for being an inch too close to the aisle, having the chaplain snap at my deaf mom-in-law in the middle of reciting marriage vows for the same reason, it made me furious. Having her adjust my veil behind my shoulders right before I walked down the aisle, when I had specifically adjusted it to go over my shoulders, having her make commands at my sister about where to stand and where to take pictures, when my sister is a regular photographer, it nearly killed the emotion of my wedding day. The actual vows and marriage lasted five minutes and carried no emotional weight. None. Right before we entered the chapel, she could be heard saying foul things about the other couple she just finished marrying. She does not care about you. Let me repeat, she does not care about you. She cares about making money from micromanaging and controlling to her whim the most important day of your life and holding a wedding ceremony with as little effort as possible. Save your money and get married in your backyard with someone who can respect your family and friends, recite your history, your love, provide a spiritual compass, and bless your future. This place is HORRIBLE !!!! The black lady who married us was disrespectful from the start until the end , she made everybody feel uncomfortable, she does not care about your special day just about making her business look good & to take pictures so she can attract more customers and make more money .. she didn't even let us say our vowels when I asked her about it she said " we ain't got time for all that " with a attitude .. she either hates watching people be happy or just isn't happy with herself. Unfortunately, the low-rated reviews are all true. I took the chance anyway, as I am sure a lot of you will. Overall, my friends and family enjoyed the experience because it was quick and stress-free. But my groom and I had a different experience altogether. The Good: * The chapel is very nicely decorated and clean. * The photographer she uses is very nice. * The ceremony was quick and simple. * Chaplain Pat does know what she is doing and runs a tight ship. The Bad: * Chaplain Pat has ZERO customer service skills. She is very militant in the way she wants to run things, which is fine, but she also has trouble explaining why she is making her demands. She doesn't want to explain anything to anyone, she would just like you to follow her orders blindly. The problem with that is that we are adults and would like to be treated as such. Any time we did not comply with her orders quickly enough or dared to ask questions, we were met with heavy sighs and eye rolls. For example, before she would let us in her doors, she demanded our rings and marriage license. We told her we would like our son to hand her the rings when the time came (I also wrote that in the online form she makes you fill out when you book). She stuttered and stammered about that for about 5 minutes, saying, "We don't do it that way," without bothering to explain why not. Finally, when it became clear we were not going to find out why not, we gave her the rings and gave our son the empty ring box since he would be none wiser. Later, the photographer told me she wanted the rings so he could take pictures of them on an angel statue. If she had just told us that, the whole issue would have been over in 3 seconds. But she did not feel we were worthy of having that information, I guess? Another example, she had our family file out and line the walkway so they could cheer for us when we came out. Then she shut the door on them and took more pictures with us for another 10 minutes. Meanwhile, our family was outside expecting us to come out any second and then becoming confused when we didn't. Why not just explain to everyone that we have a few more things to do before we come out? * Communication with her prior to the wedding (and even the day of) is nil. She will not let you come look at the space before you book. She will not answer her phone or emails. Her voicemail is always full. She tells you to call her if the outer doors are locked when you arrive, but what good does that do if she's won't answer her phone? At one point, back in January, my fiance called her and the phone rang for 2.5 hours (without going to voicemail) before she picked up. Then she told my fiance that she doubted he was really on hold for that long. He offered to send her a screenshot of his phone proving it, and she changed the subject. * Her website says that she offers both civil and spiritual ceremonies. However, the online form doesn't let you specify when you book (why not? Seems easy enough to add that capability to the form...). And she did not clarify the day of, either. I was a little too distracted (being the bride) to think of it myself, and I was appalled when she asked everyone to bow their heads in the middle of my wedding. I am not sure why she didn't ask us which ceremony we wanted. * I also noticed she did not ask us how to pronounce our names beforehand, just to be on the safe side. She got it right, but my name is often mispronounced. * She also spent a lot of our time doing things that she decided we should do, not things we were at all interested in doing. For example, tying a ribbon with our names on it on a tree during the middle of our ceremony, or taking cheesy pictures with signs afterwards, while our family waited for us. * She was also, as another reviewer mentioned, stern and abrupt with my guests. She reprimanded my uncle for putting his foot in the aisle even though no one else was in the aisle; she also kept telling my guests to stop taking pictures. No pictures at a wedding????? * Although it doesn't affect me personally, it's seems discriminatory to me that she charges more for same-sex and Spanish language weddings. read more

My fiancé and I went for a "consultation" with Chaplain Pat after looking at the reviews on her site. We had to pay a $20 fee for a tour and consultation. First of all, it's a $100 more for same sex couple ceremonies so family be aware of who you're giving your money to before you decide on this place. She was extremely cold, when we sat down she didn't say anything and finally asked well what are y'all here for today? .... we had to ask very specific questions to get any answers and we made mention that this was the first place on our stop of looking for small wedding venues. She was very reluctant to show us anything and when asked what the process would look like and how things would go the day of she said there was no point in going over all of the details because we weren't sure we were going to book there. I wrote a review on her actual page and it was deleted. If you're looking for a welcome, friendly, experience look elsewhere and don't give this woman your money. read more

The officiant's attitude lacked professionalism and customer service. She was more concerned with timeliness as opposed to making us feel welcome during our special moment. I would advise anyone to book another venue that will cater to your needs on your beautiful ceremony. read more

My fiancé and I did a 'secret' wedding here prior to the big day. It turned out ok. The main chapel was smaller than I expected--(We didn't have any guests so maybe some of the chairs could have been removed). The minister was a bit feisty at times, but that's what I would expect from a 'judge'. I would have also liked a heads up or small talk, prior, about how things (during the ceremony) were going to happen. The minister directed our pictures and didn't allow for freedom of our own shots with our personal photographer. Additionally, the minister took photos of us with her phone without asking. Overall, this got the job done...but if I had to do it over again, I would hire a minister to travel to one of Houston's gardens to perform the exchange of vows----giving more privacy and space! read more

We just got married in April right before our destination wedding and it was such a great experience there. What a cute venue and the chaplain was a true professional. We (including our families (10 guests)) truly enjoyed the ceremony. Way better than going to a regular courthouse. So grateful they provide the services that they do. :) read more

I believe The Courthouse Wedding Chapel has good intentions and expectations. I must say they fail to deliver on our day. October 10, 2020, was supposed to be a memorable and cherishable day with good memories. Unfortunately, my husband and I are left with a negative experience. We booked with The Courthouse Wedding Chapel because of the option of a live stream. We have family members all over the USA and several in other countries. We thought this would be an excellent way for them to celebrate with us, especially with COVID-19 still lingering. Several of our guests weren't able to see our ceremony at all, due to the live stream quit working before our ceremony started. Chaplin Pat did refund us 75.00 dollars for the inconvenience and allowed us to redo it after my sister interceded on our behalf and to record it. For the redo majority of guests had already signed off and missed the redo. For the redo, the guests that travel with us in person weren't even allowed in and the exciting moment was gone. My father wasn't able to walk me down the aisle and my husband and I didn't get the opportunity to kiss. The whole experience felt rushed and as if they weren't prepared. Chaplin Pat and The Camera guy were the only people present. I highly recommend additional assistance for days like this. We left feeling cheated and so does several of our guest that had the hopes to join in the live stream. Unfortunately, I could not recommend The Courthouse Wedding Chapel until more focus on quality, technical support, and customer service. Also, I would recommend learning and knowing your guest's names before assuming. I called several days before our ceremony to prevent mispronunciation of names. I did speak with a lady that said name pronunciations wouldn't be a problem and we practice over the phone how to say my name. Also, my keepsake certificate had my name misspelled. Very unprofessional, since I spelled my name correctly on the registration. read more

I knew I wanted my wedding short, simple and sweet. Nothing too extravagant yet I still wanted it to be meaningful. The Courthouse Wedding Chapel was perfect. We scheduled a short ceremony during the day with 2 witnesses. Ms Pat was kind and gave the perfect guidance for myself and my 2 small children. I couldn't have planned a better ceremony. She smiled, laughed, spoke Love into our ceremony & took pictures for us with our phones. The expedited marriage certificates came a week later and overall I couldn't have been more pleased. read more
