Cute but pricey stuff…read more We stopped in when we were walking around this cute area of Bloomington. Very welcoming and inviting. We were greeted immediately by the employee at the counter. We browsed and chatted with her. I touched all the luxe looking items and wished my bank account was fatter. We left without buying anything but having feasted our eyes and certainly *wanting* things! I am sure to stop in again when I am back for my semi-annual trek to the town!

Shot glasses, flasks, magnets, bumper stickers, all sorts of Anne Taintor stuff, books, greeting cards, buttons, candy, action figures...basically knick-knacks, gew-gaws, doodads, baubles, trinkets, novelties, and ephemera of all types. And an AVALANCHE of IU t-shirts, about a third of the store. Most are actual licensed t-shirts so you know that you're getting a quality shirt, but the prices range from six to ten bucks. Soft t-shirts, block-letter t-shirts, t-shirts with or without the trident symbol, "B-town" t-shirts, humorous t-shirts ("Purdouche", "Dry Campus", et al), etc etc etc, in numerous colors and several sizes. I saw t-shirts in several stores that day, and Greetings had the best prices and widest selection of all of them.

I saw tableware, decorative pieces, items promoting Terre Haute, candles, and art pieces. The woman who was working was pleasant and asked if I was looking for anything in particular. Primitive Porch just moved into this location in February, 2018, which use to be the home of Lighthouse Christian Bookstore. They kept the book section and Cafe from the Lighthouse Bookstore. Smoothies and sandwiches are just steps away from the shopping. You can easily spend an hour plus browsing all the unique pieces throughout this large store. Seasonal items are gorgeous, primitive everything (well, almost), all types of candles, beautiful quilts, florals, pottery, shelves, cabinets, furniture and so much more will keep you busy. The second floor has a large women's boutique with a dressing room and even more home decor. Jewelry and scraves can be found downstairs by checkout. Outdoors, by the entrance, is patio furniture and garden decor plus many cement statues. The staff was so helpful and friendly! The prices are reasonable and affordable. Don't expect it to be large, it is only one in room, but they expect to have local artwork on the walls soon and might possibly consider expansion at some time in the future. One of my favorite things about this shop is they are selling items made by local artisans. I love not only shopping local but supporting local people. Quilted items, maple syrup, jewelry etc. There is one issue, however, and that is parking. It is very limited but if you find the parking lot full then take advantage of on-street parking. I'd seen the Speedway Artist Collective multiple times as I pass 16th and Lynhurst just about every time I make my way to US 36 (Rockville Road). The Speedway Artist Collective is a permanent program coming out of the Mars Hill Arts Center. MHAC has the mission of encouraging, supporting, and promoting local artists by giving them a place to sell their works. The founders of MHAC are from the Speedway area and have been committed to really promoting Indy's west side. Located in the end spot of a small strip center, Speedway Artist Collective is open limited hours. It's a non-profit shop featuring art from local artists. Speedway is obviously a racing-centered community, however, you can find much more here than racing themed items. The art has a diverse price range and you can easily find affordable art that also supports local artists. There are also classes here and I kind of fell in love with the "Free Little Art Gallery" out front (think "free library" but with art!). I might be exaggerating a bit to go 5-stars here, however, I don't think I am. I love the art work. I love the vibe. I love the community. I love the fact that you can introduce yourself to local artists and snag some art for the home. The sidewalks have curb cuts here. there's street parking alongside the building. You can enter through a single glass door that's level to the ground. Yes, there's a lot inside, however, I found it immensely workable and worth the effort. Given the limited hours, I'd be sure to check that they're open (hours may vary with special events). However, once I was finally able to stop in I fell in love with this little gem in Speedway.

I originally went in to buy a flower arrangement for the better half. But then I saw the room with green plants and decided to add a Peace Lily for her work office. There were just a couple of guys placing orders the week before Valentines Day so not too bad of a wait. I can definitely return here for my flower and plant shop needs.
