My wife and I decided to browse and check it out (we like independent shops since you get a different mix of items than the chains.) There were the usual types of items you find in a gift store: jewelry, candles, greeting cards, floral sprigs, etc. But they were different brands which makes it seem like you tried a little harder to find the right gift. One of our favorites in the store was the line of greeting cards. They made us chuckle and pick out more to read. They also carry magnets and post it notes with the funny sayings. Simply unique and a wide selection to choose from. The store tends to carry products/gifts targeted more to the female gender, so I didn't find anything for my guy friends, but I could see it being a place that ladies might enjoy exploring. Primitive Porch just moved into this location in February, 2018, which use to be the home of Lighthouse Christian Bookstore. They kept the book section and Cafe from the Lighthouse Bookstore. Smoothies and sandwiches are just steps away from the shopping. You can easily spend an hour plus browsing all the unique pieces throughout this large store. Seasonal items are gorgeous, primitive everything (well, almost), all types of candles, beautiful quilts, florals, pottery, shelves, cabinets, furniture and so much more will keep you busy. The second floor has a large women's boutique with a dressing room and even more home decor. Jewelry and scraves can be found downstairs by checkout. Outdoors, by the entrance, is patio furniture and garden decor plus many cement statues. The staff was so helpful and friendly! The prices are reasonable and affordable. It stocks candy from yesteryear and current hot items, plus candied popcorn, fudge and yummy drinks as well as souvenir items. The Candy Castle is owned by this amazingly warm and friendly gentleman named Kevin. He is a fixture in the castle and we have visited in all seasons, including Christmas when Kevin does chestnut roasts (over an open fire!). And reasonably priced for all considering how rare it all is. They are only open on weekends so plan your trips accordingly, but I highly recommend the "cold hot chocolate" as an impulse buy at the cash register. Several hundred calories be damned - that was the best chocolate drink I've ever tasted! Also, you have to buy on site. Bummer. Although the experience suggests this to be mandatory, it would've been nice to pick up / order missed items online. They used to do this but it wasn't profitable so they expanded their on-site offerings instead. The host whose name escapes me was in for me to e and passionate about this store & its mission. It was beautiful and the natural light from the windows made it a inviting. I also purchased a cup of coffee that they are now offering. They offered different cream options and sugars and flavoring. It was just want I need that morning. My kid found this neat spilt rock plant he wanted and I found some cookies and chocolates. I loved some of the clothes they had, just wasn't something I was interested in buying at the time. We definitely want to go back for Christmas time.
