I was disappointed by the items on display though as I could not find any of the records I was looking for. After collecting records for almost 50 year, I have become very selective :-) A lot of their vinyl are in the cabinates and "in-the-back". Although the location of this particular shoppe is not convenient for me, I dropped in as I was in the neighborhood. It is seldom that I get this far east of Vancouver and seized the opportunity. The people who run the store were friendly and gracious in that they allowed be to rummage through the "not yet cataloged", newly acquired items, Thankfully I did manage to find 3 items of interest, original pressings of "Small Faces", "Deep Purple", and one other. Although I considered these items expensive, I believe that I paid what they were worth. Like everyone else, I like to get a better deal. They were kind enough to play the Small Faces on their system, it was a little beat up and I needed to verify it's value. However, their sound system was ... amm .... er .... gee ... really bad. The speakers seam to be located at the back of the store and it sounded like the music was being played in a tunnel. A lot of bass was heard, that's about it. All I could determine was that the record did not skip :-( A shame, really, as they have spent a fair amount on the reset of the shop. The quality of the sound needs to be improved. It doesn't cost much to put some quality speakers throughout a store. Would I come back??? Purely on speculation? No, it is a long way to go! I would come back if they would be willing to work with me and put aside the items I am interested in. If you dont see what you want or if the item isnt the grade you want...just ask. They'll have it somewhere or know who has it. The grades of records go from playable but rough covers to collector grade, so they hit all price points. When they are well stocked, its not uncommon to find multplie copies of an album with prices from a few bucks to $20...and he's probably got a primo copy somewhere, some ungraded ones waiting to be logged in, and a trashed version for free out in the boxes out front. I even check the free box outside for covers in better condition than one in my collection or for missing liner notes, etc. They guys are a wealth of knowledge. Just ask. They'll straight up tell you if the albumn is a first pressing, a re-issue, a bootleg, etc. They love music....and cats.

I was hoping to find any reggae or roots artists, but they have a limited selection of these genres. However, they have a wide selection of country, folk, rock, classical, and of the like genres. The staff were friendly and offering to help me search for any genre or artist I was looking for. I quickly thumbed through the Caribbean selection and bought two vinyls. Each was $5, so I thought that was a score. They also have a box of free vinyls outside you can rummage through.

I have been going to Willow Video for awhile now, and I have always had great customer service and…read moreenjoyed shopping at their store all these years. This time unfortunately was unfortunately not the case. I stopped in to pickup a double pack blu ray dvd movies from them. I only realized later I already owned this one and wanted to bring it back to exchange it for something else. I have exchanged things in the past without a problem and they had been very accommodating before so didn't think it would be an issue this time. I explained to one of the staff members the situation, her name is Jo and she told me that because one of the discs had this green hue and scratches on it, that she they the store would not have accepted this in to sell at the store, therefore they could not have sold it to me and she refused to take it back. I was not aware of this as I did not check or look at the time of purchasing these blu ray dvds as I trusted they claimed they had a strict policy of checking their discs everytime they are traded in. It was another staff of her's that sold it to me and I didn't check the disc nor would I have known what to look for as it was only my second time buying a blu ray movie from them as I bought usually mostly game cartridges from them and I trusted them to sell the customer good condition discs if she claimed they were so picky about buying used discs. This is obviously a lie as if she claimed they checked it how would they have sold me a disc in such poor condition? I was very upset to hear this and I left the first time and came back the next day wanting to resolve the issue and see if they could rectify the situation and I had asked to speak with the owner manager and this staff member Jo straight away cut me off and said only she deals with these situations as the owners don't deal with it and she was very firm on not accepting it back, despite them selling this in the first place to me and even implied I switched the discs out and tried to return it to them as it had been close to the 30 day exchange/return policy. I do not live in the area and I was working a lot therefore I couldn't come in earlier. Jo then instead of trying to help me she then proceeded to tell me that I can take the resurfacing or or leave it and I do not have to come back to shop here again if I was not happy. She was extremely rude, impatient and very unprofessional dealing with this situation. She obviously does not care about her customers at all despite them being a longtime customer supporting the business. I was very shocked and disappointed to hear this from willow video. They will sell you defective product and then proceed to lie and accuse you of wrong doing and deny that they made a mistake in selling defective product to their customers instead of rectifying the mistake. This is the worst and most appalling customer service I have ever received from any business.

When HMV Canada folded Sunrise took over some of their locations , resurrected the stores and surprised everyone by being the only chain music store left standing . I can easily spend an hour here going through their CD and vinyl collections , not that they're stellar or anything , more because it brings me back to the good old days of shopping at the likes of A&B Sound ( ! ) , Sam the Record Man and Tower Records etc . So long live the discs and LPs !

I visited from Bellingham, WA with my family and picked up a few albums, including what I thought was Creedence Clearwater Revival - Pendulum. When I got home, I discovered another Creedence record was inside. I reached out to the store by email, and their team couldn't have been more helpful -- they quickly found the correct album and mailed it to me free of charge. That kind of service is what I look for and it shows how much they care about their customers and the music community. Beyond that, the store itself is fantastic -- a deep and diverse selection, friendly staff, and a great vibe that makes you want to spend hours flipping through the bins. If you love music, Beat Street is absolutely worth a visit. I'll definitely be stopping by again next time I'm in Vancouver!

If you walk up to the front doors and still think you have made a mistake as the doors are locked and you need to buzz in.... just walk down the few stairs and go in the lower door on the left. You're still nailing it. Good for you! Located in the basement mall, it's the coolest little place. Great vinyl selection, reasonable prices, and solid quality.
