The Mill is a staple for our house as it is quite literally a mile down the road. They are under new ownership and revamping their menu so we decided to give it a try. I can honestly tell you that this is the first time in three years that I have seen the restaurant busy. We've been in the past on Friday but tonight, it was hopping. Service was great and incredibly attentive compared to the past. The restaurant still has the same look and vibe which feels a lot like home at times. We tried the mozzarella as an appetizer and it was huge. It almost resembled a fried grilled cheese without the bread. Definitely worth splitting with the table but ooh so much cheese. It was tasty. The Chicken Parm sandwich was so big there was leftovers. Someone had the Blackberry Brie Grilled Cheese that looked absolutely amazing. I had the Smashburger which was okay. It came with the smash sauce and it just honestly didn't go. The bun had so much butter on it that the butter flavor really stuck out. However, smash sauce would be absolutely amazing with fried shrimp! I definitely missed the cowboy burger from before. Pretzels and a beer cheese sauce would be a tasty add on too! read more

Creekside Mill Review Creekside Mill's new menu is a total win -- and now that they're open seven days a week, my self-control is being seriously tested! I ordered the Creekside Club, and it was freaking awesome. I always get okra as my side, and it's consistently perfect every time. We also had the Chicken Parm, and wow -- it was way more food than I expected. Definitely enough to share or take home for leftovers! The Cajun Poutine deserves its own spotlight. It may be labeled as an appetizer, but it's absolutely hearty enough to be a full meal on its own. So flavorful and worth every bite. And I have to shout out Heather behind the bar -- she has the best personality and always serves up the most amazing drinks. She makes the experience even better every single visit! Not a great experience today 1. Front of parking lot, closest to the building, was full. We had to walk through puddles and once inside there were no customers only employees. They blocked all the parking for the customers. 2. We were sat up stairs in the furthest corner even though there were not any other customers. 3. Our server was respectful but had no serving skills. He first encouraged us not to get coffee because the barista "did not know how to make coffee and it would take too long." 4. We got our food before the coffee we ordered. We had to ask for syrup even though we ordered waffles. 5. The porch behind us was covered in leaf piles with trash everywhere. 6. The food was decent but the experience overall was not great. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. We arrived with a reservation and weren't even asked for our names before being seated in the back corner of the restaurant. After receiving menus, we were left sitting for an extended period without water, without a server checking in, and without any acknowledgment. We eventually had to flag down another staff member just to get basic service. When we finally placed our order, we were told that nearly half the menu was unavailable, something that should have been clearly communicated before we ordered. Throughout the entire visit, we repeatedly had to ask for drinks, refills, and sauces. No one checked on us proactively, and the overall attitude we received felt condescending and unprofessional. We couldn't ignore the pattern that we, along with multiple other minority guests, were seated in the back and appeared to be receiving similarly poor service, while white guests were seated in better areas and received noticeably more attentive service. Whether intentional or not, the disparity was uncomfortable and concerning. When we calmly expressed our concerns, the manager approached us with sarcasm and accused us of walking around the restaurant speaking negatively about the establishment which was completely untrue. We explained that we only spoke briefly to one waiting family to let them know service seemed slow, especially since they had young children. Despite this, we were told to leave in an aggressive tone. While waiting outside in the pouring rain for our ride, staff members came out to continue yelling at us, cursing, threatening to harm us, and saying they would call the police. We have all this in video. We remained calm as to not escalate the situation (something that can also be heard in the video), but the level of hostility was alarming and genuinely frightening. To make matters worse, the restaurant later posted false statements about us on social media, claiming we harassed customers and staff. That is entirely fabricated. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic human decency was shocking. This restaurant was once wonderful under previous ownership, which makes its decline even more disappointing. I would strongly caution others, especially minorities, to think carefully before dining here. read more

Had a truly terrible experience. We were seated right away, ordered our drinks and appetizer. After 30 minutes we asked the waitress where it was, she checked and told us that it apparently didn't go through and would we like them to "throw something together for us quickly". We did not feel like paying for an appetizer that was 30 minutes late already, so we declined. Our food came out after 55 minutes, which was cold and without taste. My husbands country fried steak so soft and mushy, the breading was soggy. My fries and meal were cold and hard. Our waitress never came to check on us after we received our food. After seeing the health inspection report with a score of 83, I'm glad my family didn't get sick after our dining experience last week. I feel the food and service was mediocre and that is being kind. The food was certainly not worth the premium price they are charging and their cocktails are overpriced and not consistent. A simple thing visible to me was the women's bathroom. It was DIRTY! The toilet itself was clean but the baseboards were filthy, light fixtures had dust and bugs on/in them, baby changing table and door had built up grime on them. Apparently the same cleanliness standards applied to the kitchen where our food was prepared. The owner addressed this inspection on Facebook and blamed previous Mill employees still in their employment, faulty equipment and the age of the building. These three things could easily have been rectified to prevent the horrific conditions in their kitchen, all of which are their responsibility. Employees not living up to your standards: retrain or replace them. Faulty equipment: repair it or replace it. Old building: repair what's broken. The health code violations could have been seen with a "walk thru" of the kitchen by someone who cared. Maybe if the owner's didn't focus so much on making ridiculous, unprofessional videos of themselves and focus on the seriousness of running a restaurant properly they could do better! Employee was also changing tasks without washing hands. Observed package of dry pasta and chicken breaded with small holes, appeared to be from a rodent chewing on packaging. Observed raw chicken stored above RTE foods in large prep unit along back wall. Employee rearranged foods. Observed pink, slimy accumulation on baffle in ice machine. Drain ice and clean as often as needed. Observed black accumulation and dead insects on cover of drink machine ice bin. Observed chemicals stored on shelving with plates and bowls. Observed roaches and roach feces behind signs on walls, on back hand sink, and under drink machine ice bin lid. Observed soiled accumulation "clean" clean utensils stored in containers with food debris and in containers with rodent feces. Observed soiled accumulation on 3-comp sink and dish washer needs to be thoroughly cleaned. read more

Didn't acknowledge me at all, continued to check on other customers and make drinks without a word spoken to me. After waiting about 15 minutes I just left. If that's how you want treat customers and who you're employing, I'll go somewhere else. read more

What a cool hidden gem The Mill at Puppy Creek is. Tucked in right next to a nice, calm flowing creek. It still has the old mill look and feel. Spectacular views out of the large windows. Nice bar and dining areas. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was good and the prices were fair. No complaints what so ever. Our church reserved a room for 35 people for Valentines dinner at The Mill. Eric was so helpful. He allowed us to come that morning to decorate. He helped us arrange tables and made sure we had everything we needed. Planning for 35 people to be served at the same time along with all of his other customers could not have been easy. But they had all of us served in about 15 minutes. The food was perfect. Everyone in our group talked about how good it was. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

They would not split the "double hot dog" option down to one hot dog unless you order the kid's dog, but then you couldn't have it "all the way" which was with everything on it, just mustard. The fish and chips were good, especially the sweet potato fries. The nachos were a bit sparse and there wasn't very much meat in the "no-bean chili." The burger was good but the salad was just OK. It took over 15 minutes to get a water before even asking for an order, the food was way overpriced for as mediocre as it was overall. Few months later I decided to go with a friend to watch a game at the bar. It was the same experience even at the bar. Slow service and the bartender seemed to have a blindspot for us unless we started to get louder. She made decent drinks but the food was again mediocre and overpriced. I live in raeford and hoped it would been better to keep visiting but sadly this place needs some changes before it'll be worth going back and trying. read more

The Mill used to be me and my fiancé's go to spot for date night on our anniversary and since the new management we wanted to go and try it again. Well we were kind of disappointed to say the least. Our waitress was sweet but other than that the food was okay nothing to really rave about and was overly spiced where you couldn't taste much of the food itself and I ordered a drink on their winter drink menu and it was made so strong and super unbearable, then I ordered another drink instead of that one and again same thing it was made way to strong, but I just dealt with it. When our meal came to an end, on our tab was both drinks even though the other one was awful and I immediately sent it back and the waitress said she tried to have it taken off given I didn't even have it and they told her I had to get charged for it. Not only that but I'm assuming their prices also changed quite a bit because our bill was pretty up there for only two people who got waters, two meals, an app and two drinks (technically). We might give it another shot but a lot has changed on the menu and a lot of our favorites on the menu are no longer on it. read more
