Update: Party of 8: delivery of food was much faster than six months ago. Food is basically pub food to be honest. Both burgers at the table arrived with soggy bottom buns and burger not cooked as requested (no pink please). Steak was good. Mixed drinks were good - no complaints at all. Strange to see beer served in mason jars.... waitress couldn't hear us over the loud music - why why why do businesses think patrons like to yell across their meals? More work done in repairs and upgrades are worth checking out. A lot of work done. 2017: Where do I start? Staff is friendly. We'll definitely be back. I had the beer cheese & pretzels - delicious! The Mill used to be me and my fiancé's go to spot for date night on our anniversary and since the new management we wanted to go and try it again. Well we were kind of disappointed to say the least. Our waitress was sweet but other than that the food was okay nothing to really rave about and was overly spiced where you couldn't taste much of the food itself and I ordered a drink on their winter drink menu and it was made so strong and super unbearable, then I ordered another drink instead of that one and again same thing it was made way to strong, but I just dealt with it. When our meal came to an end, on our tab was both drinks even though the other one was awful and I immediately sent it back and the waitress said she tried to have it taken off given I didn't even have it and they told her I had to get charged for it. Not only that but I'm assuming their prices also changed quite a bit because our bill was pretty up there for only two people who got waters, two meals, an app and two drinks (technically). We might give it another shot but a lot has changed on the menu and a lot of our favorites on the menu are no longer on it. read more

Who knew this great restaurant was out in what seemed like the middle of nowhere. It's absolutely charming with great food and service. It's located on a creek where a mill used to be. We luckily were seated with a creek view. From the moment, we walked in we were greeted with smiles and staff was really excited to see us. Our server was Cassie and she was great. We had met her earlier in the day at the event we were working. For food, there's a variety from salads to burgers to pasta to fish or steak. We started with the spinach dip while we waited for a few people to join us. It was good, but could have used more cheese. Now dinner was amazing. I don't know if I was really hungry or if the food was just that good. I ordered the cheese ravioli and a Greek side salad. The salad was huge and filled with great toppings so it wasn't just lettuce and a few tomatoes. There were peppers, olives, onion and tons of feta. Yum! The ravioli was the best ravioli I've had. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the cheese blend on the inside had a perfect blend of seasonings. It was all covered in a creamy and rich vodka sauce. It was served with a thick slice of garlic bread. I used that to sop up the remaining sauce. I highly recommend visiting if you are in the area. read more

Was SO excited for the reopening I put a huge to go order in only to be so disappointed. Almost EVERYTHING was SO over cooked bordering on burnt. The "soft" pretzel was SO over done it was hard as a rock :( my good old stand by the cheese steak and I was so full of grease that's all I could taste. The wings were dry and the new honey terriakki sauce has NO flavor. I norm come here once a month and spend a pretty penny but unless things change I think this place is on the back burner for a while. read more

Ok so who knew that Raeford, NC good old Hole County had such a dope spot way back in the cut??? Not me and my ENTIRE lineage is from Raeford. Shoot I was conceived there but anywho I digress. I was in town for a funeral and my bestest cousin ever didn't want "funeral food" so she starts searching for "non chain" restaurants..,because we are City Born Broads!!! Low and behold she stumbles across this gem. It's a house, a big one with a lake/pond surrounding it. To which my Baby Cousin was so happy to see the turtles(she's 4). Anywho we step inside and it screams "locals only" but hey we're hungry and it did get great reviews. We are told to sit where we want; there's inside, inside inside, and outside. There's really multiple places to sit which is super dope. We order our alcohol drinks and of course water then head to tour this Gem. We head upstairs to the patio over looking the lake and it's so serene. The Server gave my baby cousin some bread to throw over the rail to feed the turtles. She also explained that this place has been here for like 30 years. Of course different names and management but still here! We are both shocked because our parents were born and raised here and we came during the Summer and Family Reunions. Ok enough reminiscing. The food was outfreakingstanding!!!!!! Like so shocked that Raeford offered this. And my MargaritaS!!! Perfection. I ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes thinking it would be just an appetizer and I would order an entree afterwards BUT NO!!! That baby was a full freaking meal with Grits. I guess I didn't read the entire menu. My Cousin had the chicken wings and yes you guessed it Southern Fried Crispy Perfection. Best believe when I come to see my peoples in Raeford I am coming here. The only disappointing thing to me was when we returned to Our Family and we asked about them knowing this place existed, some of my family did and didn't think they'd be welcomed there and some didn't know about it. We have lived in Raeford, right down the street from The Mill, for the past 6 months. We kept meaning to visit, and recently decided to come in for a meal at The Mill. The Mill at Puppy Creek has so much potential. The setting is gorgeous and the location is perfect, as there aren't many competing venues close by... I had such high hopes for this spot, (and hoped to become a regular due to its close proximity to our home), which made our visit that much more disappointing. Upon entering The Mill, the hostess/servers at the front were audibly having a disagreement because neither of them wanted to seat/serve us. I can understand having this discussion in private, but it was incredibly unprofessional behavior to exhibit in front of guests. Thankfully, we were finally shown to a table, after waiting awkwardly in the foyer long enough that we actually considered walking out the door. The young man who was tending to our table last night was friendly, and though his heart was in the right place, the service just was not good. We had to continuously ask for menu items we had ordered, cutlery, beverages, etc. and it took ages for them to make it to our table -- some items never made it to us at all. The "clean" cutlery in the silverware rolls at our table had old food on them and one of the drinking glasses had a faint lipstick print on the rim. The back pocket/handwritten/scrap paper beer list we were given was an interesting touch; I'm not sure why a facility with full a bar doesn't have drink menus/beer & wine lists available for guests. Additionally, as mentioned in so may other reviews, we were told "we're out of xyz" a record breaking number of times. What's worse: more than a few times, incorrect items were dropped off at our table. There were no quality check backs done by the service staff, and no one ever verified the correctness of an item being dropped off at the table prior to walking away. At one point, a female server dropped one of our drinks at a neighboring table. When the guests at that table informed her that they had not ordered the beverage, she picked it up and dropped off the secondhand drink at our table, again without verifying what it was or that we had ordered it. The food was lackluster at best. Between all of the members in our party, we ordered an appetizer, a couple salads, steak, burgers and desert. The salads arrived warm, limp and lifeless, having been drowned in an offensive volume of dressing. We added a protein option to the salads, and for a nearly $7 up charge, I really would expect more than 4 sad looking pieces of shrimp. However, to their credit, the sirloin and mashed potatoes were delicious. The desert options looked fantastic, but ordering was difficult as the waitstaff "had no idea" what the individual items featured on the dessert platter actually were. Sadly, our visit left so much to be desired. As I said before, The Mill has such immense potential and it is so sad to see it being squandered. I can confidently say that we will not be back to visit again, and will have to drive out of our way to take our business elsewhere in the future. Please, do better! read more

Our church group went there for lunch today (17 people)). Our server was excellent and the food was delicious. It exceeded our expectation. I highly recommend it and we will definitely go back. Came here tonight for our anniversary dinner. We hadn't been since the flood. New ownership. Awesome staff. Amazing food. Great view. What a nice relaxing time!!! We had deep fried mushrooms, spinach dip and pita bread for appetizers .... the spinach dip was AMAZING. Steaks and fish for dinner with salads ... all made to perfection. The Mill has been. Steady downhill project since it has opened. The food is good, if you get it. They are usually out of something or another every time I have visited. Burgers. Types of beer. Different menu items. Ran out of propane. Etc. etc. There are good staff members, but overall it is horrible service that takes time, more than what you would expect plus some. Today, The Mill has blocked any way of leaving comments on their Facebook page. It appears they do not even care to hear about their problems. They legitimately do not care. This business will fail. It's too bad, such a great location with minimal other options in the area. For shame Mill! Update: we were at The Mill during the NHL Championship games and guess what....they were out of items, as usual, it's always something. The "halftruths" as claimed by the person responding are not halftruths, they are facts. Maybe fix the problems instead of attempting to counter what people are saying. It's your business, your truth. Sadly, as convenient as the location is, it is not worth going at this time *UPDATE* Went to The Mill again and AGAIN, they were out of items. My gf and I must have the worst luck ever. Every time we've been there, they're out of something. The response from someone who works there talking about "half truths" is a lie. What I've said in my reviews are facts. The first ones I put on their FB Page and they just deleted them. There was no rudeness or personal attacks, they just got rid of a bad review. This is one of my favorite spots since moving to NC. It is close to our house and the food is good. We always feel so welcome when we go.

Love the atmosphere, events (trivia, music, etc.) and the beer choices (expensive beer though). It's close to my house and I've found a few menu items I like so I continue to go back probably once a month. However, I no longer take guests there or bring new people. Meals there are more often disappointing than not. Pizza tastes like frozen crust, the burgers lack seasoning and are cooked inconsistently (sometimes well done and dry, sometimes damn near raw). Shrimp and grits are good. tomato soup is very good. Cheesesteaks aren't good but the cold subs are tasty. I just can't chance being disappointed so I only go there now for events or a quick beer or two. Maybe order something to munch on, but I wouldn't go in hungry. The last two things I tried were the chicken tacos on Taco Tuesday. They were awful. And most recently I ordered a patty melt for lunch. The burger was pink and cold in the middle, unseasoned (not even a hint of.salt and pepper) and served with about a total of 12-15 french fries. Not worth the $10+ at all. I've had a better patty melt at Hwy 55. I really wanted this place to be "the one". A place I could take guests and be confident that they would have great service and a good meal. Sadly, that's not the case. I had hoped it would improve over the past two years but have been disappointed on that front as well. read more

If you want food before 8:30pm make sure it's ordered well before then. We ordered at 8:00pm, their computers went down, and at 8:31pm our server informed us the kitchen was closed and because of their computer outage they could not provide us with our entrees. I really want to love this place because it is one of the only restaurants in Raeford. Unfortunately they redo their menu so often that its impossible to have a favorite item. They no longer do brunch on Sunday. They had amazing crab dip that they no longer offer, and the pizzas used to be on point until recently too. It seems they have such a high staff turnover that you never know how the service or food is going to be on any given night. I dont know if it's the managers or the owners but the Mill is just so inconsistent that its not worth showing to out of town friends any more. read more

Very disappointed in my recent order of food at The Mill. I ordered 3 fish tacos and a side of pickled fries. When I asked about why the bill was so high ($18) The host told me the pickled fries were $7.85! When I looked at the order, the serving size was about equal to a serving size of a medium fries at McDonald's, (see attached picture) when I mentioned this to the manager, she was very condescending and rude, she told me she would get me some extra sauce for the pickled fries and then blew my complaint off. I understand restaurants are struggling and may need to raise their prices a little, but this is ridiculous. Won't be returning. read more

had reservations for 6 at 6pm. very few people at the restaurant at the time but still had to wait 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and sat us. placed our orders. waited over an hour for the food to be served to find it ice cold. I inquired as to why it took so long and why all our food was cold and why one burger was completely undercooked, and the waitress informed me that the food was plated and there was confusion as to which table it was supposed to go to, so it sat out for about 45 minutes (no heating lamp) before being served. was offered a messily 10% discount that didn't even cover the cost of 1 meal. literally left all the food on the table, paid, and walked out. literally the worst food service experience I've ever had. worst part is I brought my parents who had came in from out of town. avoid this place at all costs read more

I used to be obsessed with this place and really love it except I slowly learned that it's only nice because of its location. To be fully honest the food sucks, and the service could be better... I really wanted to like this place but all they got going for them is the atmosphere. I gave a valid 3 visits till I learned my lesson. Although I loved the fact it had a nice deck and the mill was working still. Reminded me of back Home. Honestly I was scared to eat the food. So worth the little drive from Fayetteville. Almost don't want to tell you about it because I don't want large crowds to spoil it. Right on the flowing creek (on a nice night, sit outside), going to be sooooo amazing with the leaves changing soon. Wife's salmon was perfect, son loved the burger and fries and folks, they must get the crawfish right out of the creek as the crawfish Mac-n-cheese was simply unreal. Expert. They have all you can eat shrimp nights, prime rib nights and we drove in on movie night...on the patio. Hidden gem category. We have eaten here a few times. Since it our son and dil's favorite restaurant, we go every time we visit. The restaurant is set back from the road and is easy to miss but it is worth keeping your eyes open for it. The crab dip is to die for! It comes with real toasted pita chips not store bought, and is a meal in itelf. Same with the spinach dip. The burgers are hearty and varied. The meals come with 2 sides so no matter what you pick, you will not leave hungry. Seating can be inside, outside or on a screened porch. We choose the screened porch since it is the best of both worlds; fresh air, ceiling fans and the sound of the Puppy Creek but no bugs. Servers are very pleasant and want you to enjoy your visit to The Mill. read more

She was very nice and friendly. When I get there to pick my food up they inform me they ran out of fried green tomatoes. No big deal I got the fried mushrooms. The Ahi tuna we ordered was cooked way to long and the pita bread was hard as a rock! Check the picture out! I got home and realized they forgot the crawfish chowder so I went back and the manager did NOT apologize ONCE and then they barely gave me any chowder in the Togo cup. Sadly disappointed. We've been wanting to try it and based on the reviews it seemed like a sure winner. At this point I'm concerned with what people of the Fort Bragg area consider "good" food. Let's face it, Mission BBQ isn't all that stellar yet people here seem to rant and rave that it's "the best!". Moving on... "Good food, Craft beer, and Bad parking" was plastered on the servers shirts. Though I'd normally applaud honesty, I think they've missed the mark here. "Good food" is a relative term. "Craft beers", sure, I'll bite. "Bad parking". Maybe on a busy night, which wasn't this evening. Perhaps "Road Closed", "Bridge Out", "Turn Around and Go Back", "GPS Recalculating" or "How About Some Signage on the Main Road?" would be more fitting. Again, I digress... The salads tasted pre-prepared and as though they'd sat in a cooler for some time. Drenching lettuce in salad dressing does not remove refrigerator taste; it intensifies it. Ordered the fried green tomatoes, received fried pickle...things. The oil in which they're fried tasted old and is probably due for a change. Ordered a prime rib, received a ribeye. The steak lacked salt and was oddly prepared... Well Rare...? I'm not sure how they managed to accomplish the odd levels of doneness on that steak. The side of vegetables just tasted strange; I can't really describe it and I'm not sure that I want to go back down that path. The saving grace was the garlic cheddar mashed potatoes. I recommend requesting a spoon as they come in a ramekin (that's a small bowl) on the side and are difficult to eat with a fork. My wife ordered the fish. Like carbon monoxide, it was colorless, odorless and tasteless. I think it came with risotto... Before we left I pointed out the heart monitor pads sitting on the window sill. Your guess is as good as mine. Heart monitor pads. Will we come back? There's a possibility but as we discussed in the car on the way home, it would probably be just to try the sandwiches.
