I loved this place. Dropped by today for lunch. Venue is sweet. Kinda country store meets French cafe. Service was super speedy. Had menus dropped right away. We were informed to order and pay at the counter and they would bring our food. We ordered wine and warm apple cider to start. I had "Charlie's choice" savoury crepe with mornay sauce, lots of tender chicken, Brie and hearts of palm. Loved it, just needed a touch of salt. My daughter had the "Good Morning " savoury crepe with eggs, bacon, cheese and maple syrup on the side. She loved it but said it was very filling. We split a dessert crepe called "Monkey Business". How can you go wrong with crunchy peanut butter, chocolate and bananas? So good but I recommend splitting it. We'll be back to try a couple of those other crepes. It was a hard decision. read more

It's a small cafe with not very many tables. Inside there's an air of pretentiousness.. could be the location (downtown Oakville) or something else entirely.. Everything is pricey! Ordered a strawberry banana Nutella crepe with two small coffees that cost over $20.. The crepe was good cause we were craving a sweet treat and the filling combination was decadent. This place is super cute and has the best French onion soup anywhere!! Their crepes are also delicious and they make their own salad dressing which is really tasty. The husband and wife team who own this restaurant do much of the cooking and serving are really nice, and they really try to create an enjoyable pace. Some of the reviews I read I personally believe are a bit unfair in that this is not a place for fast food or grabbing a quick bite and rush off. Delicious crepes in a great neighbourhood. Small, clean restaurant with professional service. Order and pay at the cash and then they will bring the crepes to your table when ready. Sweet and savory crepes are available. All the savory crepes seem to have mornay sauce in them, so if you wanted something a little lighter, they would be fine without since they still have cheese to hold them together. This place does not allow you in if you have a stroller with you. Enough said. Never thought I had to call a brunch place ahead and make sure they accommodate strollers.. it's not like I am going to a fine dining restaurant. Very disappointed. We came here as a goodbye breakfast for our friends moving out west. From the moment the 6 of us walked in, it felt like we were a nuisance. 3 of us requested a modification to the crepe for dietary/allergy reasons and we received eye rolls from the man behind the cash and the cook. I was not allowed into the patio of the restaurant despite there being empty tables and no waiting list. A former work mate had suggested we meet there and I arrived 15 minutes early having cycled 60km to Oakville. The manager said I would have to wait until my friend arrived. When I sat on a neighbour's stoop waiting for my former work mate that same manager asked me to move. After my friend arrived the manager came and said we would be next - after all the tables were filled. Sorry but you cannot treat a patron poorly and expect to reap his business. My 3 year old son committed a couple of minor infractions while we waited for our food which would have been overlooked at any other restaurant but the uptight and unfriendly owner lost his cool. We tried this place on a cold Saturday afternoon. The place had a line for placing the order first but no menu on paper. The only menu was on the board near the cashier. So if you are a first timer, you have to spend a lot of time at the cashier to decide what you want to eat. I wonder why haven't they thought about this simple logic. They can really speed up the check out process by handing out the menus so that people come prepared with what to order. Now that I have rambled on my soapbox about business 101, I can talk about the - 1. Service - poor or average. We had to ask the server for water after being seated for 10 minutes. 2. Food - average. I had chicken fajita crepe. I make better fajitas at home just by mixing chicken, , salsa and cheese on an oiled pan. There was nothing special about the food really. 3. Ambience - average. Nothing to write about here. 4. Price - pricey given the attributes rated above. 20 bucks for an average crepe is too much. This place is the best place to grab a crepe breakfast any time during the week. It has a small family run feel and it seats less than 20 people at time. It does get packed very quickly and you'll be waiting for a table for a long time! But never the less it is worth it! You place your order at the front and they bring the food to you. Not only is this a great place for us catch up with our friends that we have not seen all week, but the selection and quality of the food is incredible. Eduardo and Anna, the owners of The Crepe Kitchen, have become our friends, and for good reason. As regulars there, they are always welcoming, always courteous, and always happy to take a moment to chat with us. They even went so far as to name an item on the menu after one of our friends who has a medical condition (and for a time, this was one of the only places with food that he could stomach). Although the crepes are decent yet overpriced, I would NEVER consider going back. I have been to this location on two occasions and have been appalled by their service both times. I've never felt the need to review a restaurant in the last 30 years, however, the service is so atrocious I have to share. The older gentleman is rude, arrogant and unwelcoming. The second visit, I was with a party of 10, 9 crepes were ordered because two parties were going to split a crepe, cappuccinos and $5 dollar tea bags were also purchased. I was told 10 crepes HAD to be ordered or we would not be served!!! If it weren't for the fact it was a birthday brunch I would have immediately left. My daughter loves the chicken, hearts of Palm, mushroom and Béchamel sauce crepe! It's a must do when we are in Oakville! The dressing on the salad is great and we often buy a bottle for home (only way to get her to eat salad). You place your order at the cash and u get a number to take to your table. The owner will usually direct you to the smallest table to meet your requirements (so you can't always sit where you'd like). But, you've got to understand that really as they want to seat as many as possible. Good flow of customers. I'm only rating 3 stars as I like a consistent and pleasing atmosphere! The only issue is that sometimes the mood in the kitchen can affect your time spent. Not a consistently happy atmosphere. I brought someone from the UK to treat them to lunch after raving about it and they stated they wouldn't go again due to the atmospheric pressure! Terrible service. The owner must have taken rudeness courses. We sat down after waiting for nearly 20 minutes. There is very limited seating. We lined up to order and paid and waited another 8 minutes to sit down. One of our guests ordered a beer and the owner refused to serve it based on the looks of our guest alone. He refunded the money but it was tacky and unprofessional to say so in front of everyone. It ruined the rest of what could have been an okay lunch with starchy, bland crepes. We've been going to this place for years and the food has been wonderful and the service has been great for us. I've traveled all over the world and will say that their French onion soup is hands down the best I've had. The beefy onion-flavored broth, the chewy bread, and melted cheese....want one right now! I also love their Croque monsieur (or any of their crepes when I'm "croqued monsieur'd" out), and they have a huge variety. This place is small, not designed to accommodate people waiting for others or large groups...keeping a restaurant like this afloat in downtown Oakville is hard and some folks are not considerate of that fact at all when I read some reviews that I thought were unfair for this small family-owned restaurant. When you think of this restaurant, think "small village in France" where words like dairy/gluten free are a foriegn concept. We do take our kids here and they love the sweet crepe's (and now love the soup too). My friend and I were deciding where to eat and chose this place. We were getting together for breakfast. When we arrived the charm of the place hit me instantly. It was so cute. I felt like we just stepped into a little shop in Europe. The owners were working the place and the guy took our order. We decided to split a savory and sweet crepe as we couldn't decide which sounded better and he offered to wait to serve the sweet later so it would be fresh when we were ready to eat it. We sat and he was very attentive. Kept our waters full and kept our silverware fresh. When our food came I thought I died and went to heaven. We split a caprese crepe with prosciutto. OMG!!! So so good. When we were finished he brought out our sweet crepe. It was Nutella, banana, and strawberry. It was a bit too sweet for me but I think a lot of things are too sweet. It was still really good and the actual crepe was the perfect texture. Light, airy, not gummy. It was so good that the next day I took my husband and his brother and girlfriend for breakfast. We all loved it! We did the same thing and each couple split a savory and sweet crepe. My husband and I shared the caprese (again- that good!), and the French crepe which is lemon juice and sugar in the crepe. My brother in-law and his girlfriend had the farmers crepe and apple, custard, and cinnamon crepe. The farmers was so good! I will be getting that next time! The apple crepe tasted just like an apple pie. The lemon crepe though in my opinion was perfection. Perfectly sweet and tart inside that beautiful dough. I visited this place for the first time with out-of-town friends. My friends were waiting for me at a table outside. I immediately noticed that the patio was overcrowded. The mandatory 6-ft COVID-19 distance was ignored. When my friends and I decided that we preferred going elsewhere, a fellow, not sure whether he is a waiter or a manager (but if he is a manager he has much to learn about customer service) named "Edoardo," began complaining about the fact that we chose to leave. He complained that he had been holding the table for us for half an hour. My friend graciously offered to compensate him for his trouble, he ignored her and complained rather loudly in front of other customers. Everyone turned around to see what the fuss was about. I didn't bother to tell Edoardo that CUSTOMERS HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE where they wish to eat or have coffee. I also didn't bother to tell him that CUSTOMERS MUST BE TREATED WITH RESPECT and in a way that shows that a business owner shows that he respects the customers' decision to go elsewhere, that he is sorry to see them go, and at the same time he invites them to "come back!" Working or running an eatery isn't enough Edoardo, you need customer service skills. You don't raise your voice and treat well-mannered customers like criminals when they politely decide that they'd rather go to a less crowded place, especially during COVID-19!!!! Additionally, Edoardo mistreated two customers who are well-mannered seniors who did absolutely nothing wrong. They both tried to reason with him but he wouldn't let either talk. He absolutely lost it! And all because we chose to go elsewhere. Edoardo, in case you haven't understood by now, you need to learn some manners when doing business with people. You are not dealing with criminals, gangsters or shady characters. You are dealing with the public, with customers who want to give you their business. Yes it's small and yes it can get a bit noisy and if you are looking for quiet then you should probably stay home and make yourself some food. I love this quaint little restaurant and the food is always amazing and the French press coffee is a nice touch and adds to the atmosphere.
