Unfortunately the earrings he got the gems broke off the backings even before he got to wear them. Not sure if we just got a dud.. the customer service was alright. I'd say we were pretty much on our own not checked in on until we went up to ask a question which could be a pro or a con depending on what type of person you are I suppose. Otherwise, cute shop. I LOVE THIS PLACE. It's so fun and full of beautiful crystals and the energy in there is so calming. I've been coming here as a kid when I lived in Vancouver and I make an effort every time I come back to visit home that I pit stop and grab a few gems. My favs are the pendants. You can get a crystal point for under $7 which is so good (considering nyc prices). The pricing in general is reasonable and it's such a unique little shop right along Granville island. One of my most favorite places to go when I'm in need of a new crystal. This place has a lot of crystals and they're at a really good price point. The ladies that work there have always been super helpful and so wonderful. I've had many amazing chats with the staff and it's always such a positive each time. I don't think I've ever left the store without spending. A great crystal store for crystal lovers. I like to come here in the mornings as it the parking can get really crazy. I've heard wonderful things about Crystal Ark and have been so excited to go... I finally went and loved the shop.. looked around for a long time... A lot of the stuff I was interested in unfortunately didn't have signs as to what types of crystals they were and I felt uncomfortable asking about them all (it was a lot). And things I noticed that did have signs, I found them quite small and hard to locate. I purchased an amethyst cluster and, what I was told was a citrine cluster... I even asked... I was so excited and when I got home I started googling and posted a picture... I noticed a lot of articles warning about people selling "fake citrine".. I was told by multiple people who saw my pictures that my citrine is actually just heat-treated amethyst... so not what I was intending to buy... Incredibly upset considering I came there for good energy and also paid more money for the "citrine" and got a fake... I was hoping for a better experience, hopefully this doesn't happen again. read more

What a Gem ,! I walked in here looking for something for my desk, some inspiration, and a birthstone gift. The store is beautiful, organized, and the person helping me was very helpful& friendly( thank you!). I wanted a stone for more focus and was suggested Flourite. The store has many different cuts and stone types ( agates, spheres, wands, etc). You can spend $1- hundreds $$ depending on what you're looking for in size, shape, cuts. Today (July 3, 2010) at 5:55pm I went to the door to ask a quick question about whether they sold a particular semiprecious stone. The "Open" sign was still on and there were customers inside, but the lady inside looked at me a waved me away laughing with the other customers watching. I knocked again and she completely ignored me. This not only embarrassed me but, I believe, reflected what they really think of customers. This struck me as lazy and disrespectful and spoiled the wonderful day that I had been enjoying. I will never shop there again. this is one of my favorite places to visit in the city of Vancouver .. when it's not busy ;) I am a collector of cool stones , crystals and various 'earth art' , and this place has always had something that blows me away. at time the crystals in here can be almost beyond belief ... clusters of clear quartz with individual points the size of your forearm , amethyst geodes you need a wagon to carry out , and all sorts of smaller pocket stones , rough stones , orbs , wands , palm stones , you name it ... the staff here are always helpful , always down to help answer any questions - and are keen on suggesting stones that might be what you are looking for. this is a small shop packed with stuff. as a local I prefer to hit this place up early on weekdays when there are fewer tourists and granville islanders everywhere. it can get really crowded in here really really fast - which makes taking time to appreciate the many beautiful objects in here more or less impossible. two groups of tourists and a family walk in within five minutes of each other and all you can see are jackets and the stuff on the outer wall displays .. ..and you definitely wanna check the displays in the middle .. I have found several amazing stones hidden in those shelves amongst the jewellery. it can be easy to skip these shelves - particularly the lower ones on the register side .. as they are easily obscured by people - especially if it is busy in here. I didn't even see them the first few times I went in here and it winds up these lower shelves around the middle are the ones that hold the most amazing specimens .. herkimer diamonds , moldavite , fulgurites ! I scored the most amazing raw malachite here not to mention hands down the most intensely purple piece of superman flourite I have ever seen ... perhaps the nicest one that exists :) of note are the prices - I have been to several other crystal /rock shops in the city and nobody compares to the prices here. I'm not saying it's cheap - but the prices are fair - and that's more than can be said for most of the other places selling semi-prcious stones and crystals to the public. someday I will have enough money saved up to buy one of the massive crystal clusters from this place - but for now I am content to pop in and look at the smaller stuff , pick out ones that speak to me , and I enjoy talking rocks with the staff. highly recommend this place to all lovers of stones and crystals , you can even wax metaphysical with the staff when they have time. when I come here and they don't have anything that I want ( rare but it has happened twice ) I spend a few bucks and fill a little baggie with tumbled stones ( you can fill a bag with various pocket stones here for a few bucks - depending on the size of the bag ) .. and then I give those stones away to people. great shop. love it. read more

Love, love, love this place and can't recommend it highly enough. I've been in here the past few years, and thought it was cool- but never really bought anything. However, after completing a number of healing and crystal courses, I went in armed with a long list- on a mission to get myself all the makings for a crystal grid. I immediately found a few pertinent items needed: selenite wands in varying lengths. The longest ones were $11, then $8 and the short ones only $4. Yay! Got 2 short, and 2 long- encouraged by the saleswoman to feel them and choose which ones were 'right'. Next: citrine, fluoride,lemurian seed crystals, amethyst and black tourmaline. The european lady with short dark hair was working- she is VERY knowledgeable about crystals, and their uses- and cheerfully answered the many questions I had. Once I had the main components - I walked outside to their domed 'outdoor' section where they have tons of small, polished stones and crystals. I found kayanite slivers, and some cool quartz pieces for 95 cents each. I noticed the polished rock 'pit' - where you can take your shoes off and 'ground' yourself in the rocks- but it was cold and raining so I passed on that. I got 4 wands, and a big bag of many crystals necessary for my grid for a total of only $75. A long time energy healer, I have always found the atmosphere light, airy and vibrant, and I have always had polite, knowledgeable and courteous customer service. It's clean and tidy, well organized, and has a phenomenal amount of selection, and decent pricing. And, the staff understands 'feeling' the items and openly encourages you to hold each piece, not like many other crystal stores. It can be busy and bustling- and deservedly so. If you are at all intrigued by rocks, crystals, and the like- take a look- I highly doubt it will disappoint ~and, there's always the rock pit to sink your feet in ;-) Next stop in : flouride spheres, apophylite and yes maybe next time I'll ground my feet in the pit. read more

I love this homey spot. It is so easy to just get lost exploring in here and super fun to take off your shoes and ground in their crystal pit. Going here on a weekday is preferable as it is much more calm and serene. Only of their employees, Melanie, was super friendly and I enjoyed chatting with her. OMG what an awesome find. I only found this place 'cause I took a wrong turn on Granville Island. It is weird 'cause I at least go to Granville Island at least 6 times a year and never seen this place before. This place is behind the Children's Market. If the guy at the coffee shop (reviewed earlier) didn't show me the shortcut than I would've completely missed this place all together. I love rocks and gems, especially polished ones in different shapes. I bought a few rocks and crystals as I am into that sort of new age stuff. Very decent prices. I went to Granville Island on a school trip and as we had some time to wander around I found myself at this cute little shop. You can really feel the positive energy in this place soon as you walk in. There was insents burning and pleasant staff eager to help. I ended up buying one of their $5 bags and made a promise to myself to come back and find some more treasures at a future date. Great at first, and they do have some very nice pieces, but the selection doesn't change all that much over time, it it's hard to find rarer stones. Middle-of-the-road cost for anything tumbled or raw, but bigger or polished pieces can be quite pricey. My only real problem with the place is that one of the owners tends to make you feel very unwelcome if you try to linger when it starts getting busy, even if you're a loyal, returning customer!! The other employees are wonderful and eager to help, but if you're looking for a place to stop by regularly and be respected for your patronage, look elsewhere! read more

The front desk workers were unfriendly to the point of overt rudeness; I've shopped for business purposes before, as well as my co-workers, and was met with terrible customer service. Considering my Co workers and I are POC and seem to be the only three who had negative experiences in the store based on the reviews, I'm curious to know how big a part that played in my underwhelming customer service treatment. They would ignore me after I asked a question, and was left waiting at the cash register while they went to show their friends photos on their phone in the store.
