SO. MUCH. FUN!!! this store has selections for DAYS. every single bead, color, style, material you could think of. this store has it all. you can customize and make your own jewelry from bracelet earrings necklaces to a bookmark even. such a fun experience. my friend and I didn't even plan to come here yet ended up spending over 1.5hrs lol whoops. it was awesome though and everyone working there was super nice even though it was so busy. HIGHLY recommend as a cute date activity or just for fun :") all the prices vary per item. I made a bookmark and it cost around 12$ (even less in USD). I just selected a few larger beads. i'd estimate a bracelet to be more around 20$ (?) pricing was very fair overall though.

Came on a Sunday afternoon and man was this place busy! My partner and I had wanted to make bracelets. It was a simple process. You get a tray, pick out your design in beads, and then decide between stretchy cord or clasp and wire. Then you sit down, string it together, and then an associate will help you finish it up. Cost is based on the amount and type of beads you pick. Store was pretty crowded, and I found myself often waiting to get a look at some sections. We were lucky to snag some seats at a table to string our bracelets, but we definitely saw some people have to do it standing up. A fun little thing to do and I was happy with the finished results.

I have to say I am extremely happy I made my first artist-quality paint investment here for those three reasons, and for the small-vendor service I get when I have questions. After consulting with the sole staff member on my first visit I picked up the 15-colour starter set for $60 plus a couple more tubes in larger sizes. Now every time I'm on Granville Island I just love spending a few minutes here where I'm sure to treat myself to a new colour; at $4-7 for a new 60ml tube it's good retail satisfaction value. The reduced selection compared to major acrylic brands is actually a relief to me; I am not bombarded by choice, and I can actually reach a point where there isn't more to collect (a good thing for me). I was very happy to recently see the always-fun Raw Canvas (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/raw-canvas-vancouver) using all Kroma paints...

I prefer them over all other costly and well known brands. When speaking to their customer service department I was treated professionally and kindly. The time between speaking to their representative (Jessica) on the phone to order my paints to having them delivered to my door - safely packaged- was a mere two days. I live in Alberta. For those who are wary, try out a few of their tubes and reserve judgment until after you have done so. I know you'll be happy with these paints.

However, many a time I have looked at the colorful displays of beads in the window while walking by or waiting for the bus, so while I have always been aware of Country Beads, I have never had a need to go there. Then a couple of years ago I purchased a pendant at a craft fair and could not find the right chain to go with it. I remembered Country Beads and I was able to find the type of chain I needed, and I was able to customize it to just the right length as well. They also attached the clasp for me, and it was a very reasonable price--just a couple of bucks, whereas a jewellery store would have charged at least $20. From then on, I decided that I would go to Country Beads for all my necklace needs. Last year I purchased a couple of necklaces. They were cheap (about $30 for both), but I loved them as they went very well with several of my outfits, and people always complimented me on them. So I was worried when they broke in a way that I, a non-crafty person, could not fix, then I thought of Country Beads, and was pleased to discover that they do repairs as well. The price of repairs is $20 an hour plus materials (the materials are not terribly expensive, though), and I figured that based on the type of repairs that needed to be done (which seemed very complicated to me), it would cost me more than the price of the necklaces. But I loved my necklaces so much that I was willing to pay whatever it took. So I was pleasantly surprised when the bill came to only $26--$15 for labour, and the rest for materials and tax. And my necklaces are as good as new. So whenever I need a chain or a repair, Country Beads will be my go-to place. Go to Country Beads for all your necklace needs!

As soon as we entered, we went directly to the ear-piercing section to choose earrings. The employee assigned to do the piercing stood there without even acknowledging us or offering any assistance. When I informed her that I had an appointment, she told me I was exactly "6 minutes and 24 seconds late" and therefore she would not perform the piercing. I was shocked by how rigid and dismissive this was. There was absolutely no attempt to accommodate us, show understanding, or provide any customer service whatsoever. Refusing service over a delay of just a few minutes, especially after a customer has made the effort to come in for a booked appointment, is unreasonable and incredibly frustrating. The lack of professionalism, empathy, and basic courtesy left a very negative impression. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I had a fabulous time at the Mejuri Piercing Studio! Thank you, Sarah, for your spectacular service…read more- from your patience as my friends and I chose our earrings, to your efficiency in getting us pierced, to your care in explaining the aftercare process. The three of us came in thinking we'd get one piercing each, and walked out with double the amount in the span of an hour! BOOKING: The process was quick and easy on the Mejuri website. No deposit is required, so you can rest easy if you do change your mind. Moreover, if you sign up for Mejuri's SMS+Email program, you can get 10% off towards your jewelry. Once you get to the studio, you can skip the line by letting them know about your appointment. STORE/STUDIO: Sleek, spacious, and sophisticated! There is a wide offering of jewelry to choose from, whether you're looking for dainty, more delicate pieces, or something with a bit more pop. The Piercing Studio is in a back room for privacy. SELECTION: The jewelry is more limited for in-store piercings, but they are all 14k white or yellow gold with threadless flat back titanium studs. You can choose from 8 types of piercings in the lobe and cartilage areas. (Note that for lobe piercings, healing will take at least 3 months, whereas for cartilage piercings, it is at least 6 months.) Prices currently range from $85 to $455. No matter how many piercings you get, the service fee will be $25 for your session (including a free check-up and post-downsizing) so you may find yourself easily tempted to get more like we did. PIERCING: If you're going with friends, I would recommend back-to-back sessions, so you can maximize your visit as the piercing itself is quite quick. We had ample time to select our jewelry and didn't feel rushed during our hour together. Sarah marked our ears to show where the jewelry would go and let us hold them up against our ears again to get an idea of placement. My only issue was that my helix piercing was slightly covered by my ear fold afterwards, though I plan to get a hoop later so I am not too fussed about it. The entire process was very efficient and sanitary, with gloves and sterilized, single-use equipment. Sarah also provided aftercare instructions, including purchasing Bactine and running warm water over our piercings during showers. Payment was done by tablet in the Piercing Studio, so there was no need to line up in the store which I appreciated.  Overall, I really enjoyed the whole experience and can fully understand why Mejuri is as popular as it is. I am already itching to go back for more piercings, but for now, these ears need some proper rest and recovery.
