Good audio gear repair shops in the Midwest are hard to come by, and excellent ones such as this…read moreare even more rare. Im so thankful I took my gear to them instead of shipping it off to an authorized tech in NYC. They saved me several hundred dollars and did great work in a timely manner. This was on a custom hand made dj mixer from Australia with no manual to reference mind you. The variety of different gear they are able to work on is staggering. After I found their entrance it was smooth sailing. They also back their work for 30 days so you really can't go wrong. Highly recommended.

I would call them weekly and for the first month the response was we haven't gotten to it. Ok if work is ahead of me I accept that. because of my repeated calls I was told they would move me up on the list to have the tech make a diagnostic evaluation on it which never ever happened. Then after that it was BS about having to build some "special diagnostic software" to access the ethernet port on the back of the amplifier or equipment to make an assessment. they told me they couldn't get enough information from the manufacturer or off the Internet. I could except that for a repair are you telling me place that repairs amplifiers can't even do a general diagnostic evaluation on an amplifier for god sake?? Then finally after two months I called to just tell them I wanted to come pick up my amp and take it someplace else and their response was "we are out on the road for a week with the some band but we'll see if we can find anybody to let you in to the store so you can get your amplifier." what a joke this place is. They have no business whatsoever advertising home audio equipment repair. The only thing I got for my money was excuse after excuse about why they had done nothing and a bunch of BS. They could not even provide me a guess what might be wrong with it based upon a bench evaluation by one of their techs. It is really hard to find audio equipment repair shops nowadays as everything is disposable but I can tell you this, Pro Sound certainly isn't one of them! Stay away if you need stereo repair.

If I could have given this place zero stars, I would. Within a 2 week time frame, I spent roughly…read more$150 at this "store." The first purchase was nice enough, but then again I dealt mostly with the woman who works there, and not the male owner. She threw in a couple free controllers, and he threw in a memory card (keep in mind I'd just spent $100 cash, too.) The second purchase was a Playstation 2, with one game, for $45 (no tax was charged since I paid with cash.) The owner said the game may not play, since it was a blue disc, and to bring it back if it didn't play. This purchase was made on a Saturday night. Sure enough, I got home and the PS2 didn't play ANY CD; game or music. On Sunday I tried calling a couple times through the day, as he said he'd be open, and no one ever answered. On Monday we had a huge snowstorm, but I tried calling anyway, and the phone was shut off. The owner mentioned he was closing the store January 1st, so I wondered if he closed up early. I thought that would suck since I was stuck with a PS2 that didn't work. After some Internet research, I determined that the laser probably needed alignment and shouldn't be a big deal for someone who repairs these game systems. Fast forward to last Friday, and I took the game back with my boyfriend. We walked in the store and let the owner know the system was broken (because it didn't play ANY CD.) He basically said we didn't know what we were talking about, the people on the Internet were wrong and the PS2 wasn't broken. He claimed we needed to visit a PS2 website, he gave the URL which I don't remember, enter the serial number and find out if the PS2 was able to play colored discs in the first place. OK, if this is a known issue with PS2s, why not research this before putting the game system up for sale, so situations such as this are avoided? He finally offered us store credit, for a store that was closing in two weeks. He didn't have anything else I wanted, and even if he did, why would I feel comfortable purchasing anything else from him? He was rude and does NOT care about his customers at all. When I told him I tried calling and his phone was shut off, he stated "I didn't have it turned on since we're closing." Your phone was already turned on, so that makes no sense. Also, when I told him I was going to call regarding a different item, why not mention it then? The first time we were in the store I noticed he was kind of rude and a know-it-all. I'm glad I hadn't dealt with him the first time, or I would have walked out. Maybe it would have been better if I HAD walked out the first time! Overall, I would NOT recommend this place for the week they have left as a brick-and-mortar business. He did mention they have Internet sales, too. I feel bad for anyone who does business with this place over the Internet; who knows what you'll receive! I can see why his business is closing January 1st, although he claims it's because the city of Garfield Heights is requiring resale shops to take down customer info, deliver that info to the police station and pay a $300 yearly fee. Even if the police are requiring resale shops to do something like that, why not comply? I would think it would protect the business and customers, and give the shop a bit more legitimacy. For the record, my boyfriend tore the PS2 apart, adjusted one screw and it now plays just fine; DVDs and CDs. Obviously the guy either didn't have the $45 in the register to refund us, or just wanted to be a jerk. Either way, it's unacceptable.

If you're looking for anything resembling popular music, don't come here. You will be disappointed…read more If you're looking, however, for dance, electronic, or experimental music, this is the right place. The owner is, shall we say, a bit prickly. He sized me up the second I walked in. Because I've been going to record stores for years and have encountered music snobs more than once, this amused me more than anything. Once I pulled out a DJ Stingray (legendary techno DJ from Detroit) album, he knew I wasn't a noob. He got further confirmation when I asked about some Fennesz (amazing Austrian experimental guitarist) albums. Once you get him going about music, he warms up. Bent Crayon has very hard-to-find titles like Drexciya (iconic sci-fi techno duo from Detroit) reissues, the latest from Perlon (dance music label in Berlin), the Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, or other left-field music. Bent Crayon is mostly vinyl but also has a solid selection of CDs. Fair warning: The corner shelves of experimental music are alphabetized but the rest of the store follows a mysterious organizational logic. In other words, you have to dig, not scan. I bought reissues of Stingray's Aqua Team 2, Drexciya's Harnessed the Storm, and Cluster's Zuckerzeit (Cluster was an electronic music duo from Germany who worked a bunch with Brian Eno). Bent Crayon is not for everyone, but it's still pretty rad.

Since being back in Cleveland, I haven't found my ideal record store. [a tad unrealistic, but a…read morestore with tons of used CDs [and new], including local acts, priced below $5, of all genres, especially hip-hop, trip-hop, alternative rock, and soundtracks; would be it, although perhaps it's a good thing, because I need to save money. Stores like the Corner Record shop in kalamazoo, and weirdo records and another one both in boston, have come close to the ideal state.] One of my favorite pasttimes is to go to a record store, buy some random CDs that look interesting to me and hope for the best. My budget usually imposes a limit of 4-5 of them, all used]. Compared to my other reviews, my ratings for stores a bit more skewed toward my bias, so, that being said;.. I had some time to kill and wanted to see what they had. So here I am now writing this. The guy behind the counter was amicable and let me browse without buying anything for 30 minutes, always a plus. The selection consists mostly of newer [late 90s-2000s] rap, mainly southern and the big labels - Motown, Universal, Cash Money. Nothing from rhymesayers [boo]. Some older stuff like Schooly D and Slick Rick. Format-wise, I was disappointed to see no vinyl, only CDs, and cassettes [I now know that rap is still being released on cassette]. Their prices for albums were ok, $6-7 for used, $13ish for new. I asked if they had any local acts [and gave out some names] and he said they did not, recommended me to go to another place that ended up being closed. There's also a big CD selection of Gospel and R&B. Plus, there's some porn. If you're in the neighborhood, also check out Lucy's Sweet Surrender bakery which is a couple blocks down from here. The lower rating is due to their limited selection rap and a lack of vinyl. If you're looking for gospel, r&b, or contemporary rap [Southern and mainstream, mainly], then Nikki's is a good place for you.
