The Currituck Club is in my opinion the nicest golf club/neighborhood in all of Corolla. We have stayed several times for a week and we always enjoy our time intensely. This review is for the golf course as we had a chance to visit while we were here! Me and my brothers were able to enjoy a VERY nice round of golf and everything from start to finish made the experience so amazing. We pulled up and immediately had someone come down to help with our golf clubs. He was very quick and attentive and took great care of our clubs. Colin, one of the golf pros who works there is AMAZING! He has such a great golf swing and taught us a few things as well. He has great energy as well and next time I come I'll definitely take lessons from him! The course was very nice and well maintained. It's well laid out and there is in a very nice gated community. The drink girl who served us was also great and helped refuel us while we played. They spaced out the players quite nicely as well so we didn't feel like we were on top of anyone or anyone right on our tail. We will certainly make sure to make The Currituck Club a regular event for us every year we come. Thank you for such an amazing experience! If you are contemplating on whether or not to play golf while on vacation, go ahead and do it and you won't regret it. read more

The Currituck Golf Club & Course was somewhat of a mediocre experience. The course itself is beautiful and challenging at times. Since you're on the narrow strip of the island, it can get very windy and of course mess with your game if you're not prepared. The staff were ok, nothing bad, but also nothing great. For the price of the round and everything else, I would've expected a little more and a more memorable experience. You're basically paying a high price for an everyday course. We had a good day, but nothing to write home about. read more

I would like to start by saying, I have been coming to Corolla for over thirty years and I own a rental property in the Currituck Club. I have seen this course go through good times and bad, both conditions and staff. I will say, that this is a great course and I have always enjoyed playing here! That being said, the course is in decent shape with the exception of the greens. Players (hackers) are not repairing ball marks or taking care of the course (common etiquette). I played this week and observed the following: The pro shop allow groups of five players, extremely slow play ( no rangers to be found anywhere), players hitting three and four tee shots each, three foursomes on one hole with a fourth pulling up to the tee box, players in the woods for extended periods of time looking for balls, players playing balls from out of bounds (people's yards) and players driving carts where they don't belong (next to the green) !! The pro shop is obviously taking full advantage of dynamic pricing, at $180- 200 per round during the week, maybe if the course was in top shape and it was being maintained and managed properly!!! Played two rounds, no beverage cart in sight. I will wrap up this review by saying, I am extremely disappointed with how the course is being run and maintained, to charge the premium prices and have the conditions be what they are is ridiculous!! To the management and staff... it's not about the quantity of play, it's about the quality! This is a beautiful course and it deserves better! read more

We played four courses on our recent trip to the OBX and this course was by far the best. The course was in great condition and the views were very scenic. It was very windy on the day we played so the advice we received from the starter was invaluable. Everyone we came in contact with at the course was very friendly. The course was very crowded on the Saturday morning that we played but everything moved along at a good pace so that we finished in slightly over four hours. Everyone in our foursome wants to come back and play this course again next year. read more

Absolutely horrendous golf course for the price. Would not recommend to anyone, prices way too high for a joke of a course. Greens were absolutely awful, ballmarks and burn marks everywhere. Looked like there is 0 maintenance done on the course. Staff was very unprofessional and they overcharge for everything. They shut down the clubhouse by 6 o'clock and we saw the drink cart once on the very first hole. DO NOT GO HERE! Absolutely regret spending money here because this place is a joke!!! read more

A beautiful course, and something I look forward to every time I make it down to the Outer Banks. I'm a fan of the layout, although I tend to always get here after an aeration. I've never been able to get a beer on the course as every time I've played here there was no one driving around. And given the weather, I would think this is something they should have most days, not just the weekends. read more

Beautiful golf course! Impeccable greens, perfect fairways, good mix of challenging holes, fun par 3s. Nice bar, restaurant, nice pro shop. Issues... At noon the range ball machine shouldnt be empty... This threw off my game and i believe is the main reason i golfed in the 90s as opposed to breaking 80. Also.... This is the obx... It is hot and humid. We saw the beer girl around hole 3 and then not again for the rest of the round. We were beerless for 9 holes and nearly died. Luckily i had a flask of johnny walker black in my bag to keep my BAC up. When youre paying 125 to golf, i should see beer carts and range balls. But, nonetheless a fun day and i'll def golf the course again. read more

I will preface my review by saying I played right after aeration. However, I have played here a few times over the years. I don't mean this as a knock but their rates are definitely supply and demand based. This course, while nice and maintained with a nice clubhouse is not worth the rates they charge. I would estimate it anywhere else as $60 a round course. This past week they charged $90 to play the back nine twice and had aerated the day before. The greens were unplayable and should not have had golfers out there. Once on the green your hole was basically done, putting was worthless. In addition, at least on our day, tee times didn't seem to matter. More then 4 groups were stacked up and waiting on each hole. Also, no cart service at a course like this in the heat is kinda crazy. Here's my tip, if you have to play golf while in Corolla and don't want to drive 45 minutes and don't mind the steep price tag then this is your place. However, if golf is not required for your trip, leave the clubs at home. read more

This is a beautiful and well-managed golf course. I arrived at 7am as a single with a tee-time originally reserved for two people. They paired me up with another single and were hesitant to let us go out as a twosome because of the pressure we would impose on the foursomes in front of us. We agreed to not play through as a twosome. This attention to carefully managing the tee-box and worrying about everyone's experience sets the club apart from other slightly less expensive local clubs like Kilmarlic (poorly managed). In terms of physical beauty, this is the prettiest course I have played on the outer banks. The greens and fairways are well maintained. Greens are not fast, but the shore is a demanding place to run a golf course and I thought they struck the right balance. Sandtraps were especially good, with lots of light fluffy sand that they cart in fairly often after storms move it out. Golf carts are equipped with GPS range-finding equipment that accounts for the day's pin placement. This speeds play and is a great convenience on a course you play only annually. Most holes allow the carts on the fairways. I find it inconvenient to be in a cart when the carts are restricted to cart path. They don't have a lot of that here. There was not beverage cart out on the course when I played, but I found this this to be only a minor inconvenience. I usually drink water and there was plenty of it out on the course. Overall, I found this course beautiful, well run and a challenging test of golf. read more

This is a review of the Currituck Club, solely as a place to stay while in the Outer Banks.It is located in Corolla, North Carolina and in the absence of traffic is about 25 minutes north of the Wright Brothers Memorial Bridge, but it balloons to 1-2 hours of traffic on the busiest weekends of the summer. If you don't arrive before 10:30 AM on a summer weekend, it will take up to an hour to get through Duck North Carolina. (On the other hand, if you were simply driving to the north end of Duck itself, it might take nearly as long to get there. Getting through Duck is the problem, and the Club really can't help that.) Once north of Duck, traffic tends to move. The community is beautiful. All of the houses are beautiful. Most houses are no more than one house away from the golf course. Shopping facilities are located at the entrance and include donut shops, ice cream shops, a Harris Teeter grocery store with beer and wine, and sundry while-you're-at-the-beach shops. Wild horse tours originate in one of the shops there. There is a fitness center and a well maintained pool. Unfortunately, there is no reasonable beach access for the entire community. The Club solves this problem by offering a continuous trolley to shuttle you to a public beach 2 1/2 miles south. This lack of beach access is a deal breaker for a family whose primary reason to come to the Outer Banks is to go to the beach. We had to rely upon a trolley to take us 2 1/2 miles south of our home, though the distance may be less depending on where you are located in the club. We attempted to simply walk to the beach utilizing existing roads (and about 10 yards of golf cart paths). We managed this successfully getting to and from the beach in about 15 minutes for 3 days. On the 4th day we were accosted by security and advised that we were not permitted to take these paths to the beach. We took public roads and roads maintained by the community on the fifth day but were again advised against going to the beach that way. Presumably the Currituck Club employees were looking out for the Ocean Sands South community across the street. Once, my children were told that to simply walk the streets of the community necessitated wearing a green wristband, provided at check-in. We loved the community. We loved the appearance and the access to amenities both related to the club and to the shops nearby. Our house was on a hill, and it was easy to see the sound and the ocean simultaneously. On the other hand, because my family goes to the Outer Banks in order to go to the beach, we will not be returning to the Currituck Club. Access is not convenient and making your own way is actively discouraged. If you are a golfer interested in a beautiful sight and might go to the beach once or twice a week, this place may be perfect for you. If you are a beachcomber first and foremost, the Currituck Club will not satisfy you. read more

To start with, a great layout in a beautiful part of the country, North Carolina's outer banks. I have been playing this course for 23 years as we come here every year at least one time and I always play golf. They have been getting rain, but wow way too much crab grass in the fairways and on the green surrounds. Yes, I know it's August so save it. This is Club Corps marquee properties and it just was not what I am used to. And what happened to the friendly pros inside in dapper polo? Today was gruff and both arms all tattooed up. Beautiful golf course. But very hard for the normal golfer. Make sure you bring extra balls in your bag. The rough is tuff and its easy to lose balls during your game. A lot of breath taken holes are on this course that you almost want to bring a camera. Plus the carts have a nice GPS pad next to the driver. Really nice to have when deciding in what club to pick. Years ago, I played the Currituck Club for several years after it first opened. This track wanders among the dunes across NC17 from Ocean Sands, and has great views of the Sound on a number of holes. Layout wise, this is the best club I have played in the Outer Banks, and it is operated by Club Corp. For starters, the summer rate is $160 in the morning. I was a little surprised when I discovered that range balls are extra. The range itself is not long enough to hit driver, but is fine otherwise. The range balls were well used (luckily there were a number of range balls lying around). My group of 4 had 3 golf carts. All were well worn with squeaky brakes. My brother-in-laws cart did not have a parking brake, and when he pointed that out to the starter, he was told to just be careful how he parked it on hills. OK, so now we know how they take care of their equipment. Or don't.......... Tee's and fairways were inconsistently mowed. The back nine seemed a bit better off, but we only saw one mower all day. Greens were a major, and I mean major disappointment. They are machine mowed, not hand, and are sticky and slow. My best guess is that they were running around 9 on the stimp meter, at best. We consistently had to deal with footprints from preceding groups that had not recovered. and these greens truly demand that you do not walk on anyone's line. There is nothing firm about these greens, and they were a major disappointment (and nothing like the greens that I experienced after the course opened). Bunkers were a highlight. Sand was light and it was easy to hit crisp bunker shots. Overall, Club Corp looks like they are operating this place on a shoestring budget, and I will spend my golfing dollars elsewhere. read more

Played the course on 8/1/18. This may be the worst $100+ golf course I have ever played. Greens were awful (ball marks and slow), tee boxes were beat up, and fairways blended into rough because of the "crab/quack" grass. I had a tee time booked for the following morning and tried to cancel it after the round because the conditions were garbage.....but the clubhouse was closed at 6:30pm so I couldn't even vent. I thought the layout of the course was awesome, but no course should charge over $100 for those conditions. Shame on you Currituck! read more

Zero customer service. I've never seen this before on a golf course. We paid at the pro shop then never saw anyone again. They closed the pro shop when we took the turn. We never saw a cart girl on a hot afternoon. We never saw a ranger telling slower groups to speed up. We never saw a grounds crew despite weeds growing ALL OVER the course. They charge a premium rate and have spectacular vistas but the course and service don't warrant even the very reduced $75/round we paid. read more
