She went WAY too short. She didn't take spring up into consideration. This was her comment. On the other occasion the cut was poor. The stylist was seemingly unfamiliar with thick hair and the layering was lacking. I left looking like a puffy triangle and needed to go for a repair cut at a salon in Brunswick. The repair cut was $45 where as the Shear Artistry cut was $70. before the tip. Yes. I tipped. The stylist was a sweet person but lacking in skill, at least with my hair.

Back home a mani/pedi takes about an hour. Also, I've never been to other Maine salons so I'm not sure how this compares, but one mani/pedi is $60, about $20-25 more than I pay in CA. If I lived in the area, I'd continue to get my nails done here....but perhaps half as often as I do in Oakland...

I explained that I am not a bride looking to have my bridal party's hair done but rather a wedding guest coming in from out of town and seeking a simple updo. Apparently this salon is now closed on Saturdays, despite what the online hours say, and all the reviews saying what a great job Bonnie did for their wedding party are out of date as well. I guess anyone who has a job Monday-Friday in Boothbay Harbor and only has Saturday to get a hair cut will also need to go somewhere else.

Let me say up front that Heidi's salon is at her home so if that is a turn-off for you, go elsewhere. However, you enter directly into her salon from the driveway so you won't be traipsing through her house saying hello to a husband, dogs, etc. on the way. Also, the space is actually a salon; it doesn't feel like you are in someone's home. It is really easy to get an appointment with Heidi so if you are on vacation and only have a couple of days available you will most likely be in luck. We've all had the experience of describing to the stylist the cut we want and ending up with something totally different. I always feel like Heidi really listens and then gets it right. My daughter started going to Heidi a couple of years ago as well and has been happy.
