Bridges at Tartan Pines Golf Course…read more Who goes to a Golf Course to eat lunch or dinner; well, if you live in the Wiregrass area and are looking for delicious food prepared by a top notch Chef and kitchen staff in a cozy restaurant setting - The Bridges at Tarpan Pines is the right location. They have a great menu with options, to include a children's menu; indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the water; and a full service bar. We typically go there on Friday's for their Prime Rib dinner; and have also enjoyed the Texas Style BBQ plates on Saturdays - with the buffet style option on Wednesdays being a hit too. We've not been to the Sunday Brunch buffet - but have heard it is awesome. On the menu for us this past Friday were the Prime Rib dinners with potatoes and fresh asparagus; the Blackened Shrimp Kabobs with Mushroom Risotto and fresh vegetables, and the Southwest Chop Salad. The Prime Rib portion is generous and has a slight smoked taste, fits right in with the fresh horseradish sauce. The Shrimp Kabobs are two long skewers of Gulf Coast shrimp with a seasoned grill taste. On other occasions, we tried and recommend the Chicken Francese, a large chicken breast cooked to perfection in a lightly cream sauce on a bed of angel hair pasta and fresh vegetables; or the Skirt Steak with Chimichurri gently dusted across the top; or a lunch time Burger with Fries. Hard to imagine going to a golf course to eat, but at Tartan Pines it does have a two-in-one setting. The Pro Shop and golf on one side; and the restaurant / bar on the other side. Membership not required for either and open to the public. Pay them a visit and sit back and enjoy the view, sip a Classic Old Fashion, a glass of wine or refreshing Mixed Cocktail - even a cold draft beer while you wait for your food. Life does not get much better.

We would visit more often however; the staff makes the experience awkward because they are not…read morefriendly and always seem confused about pricing of items and to get food and service is a hassle.

This is a bustling spot with something for everyone. They've got some specialty grocery items, a bar, tons of gifts and locally made goods, and most importantly for me, a sandwich counter that is functioning at a high level and putting together some really good sandwiches that everyone needs to try. The menu is expansive and has something for everyone, from French Dips to Cubans and all points in between. I ordered "The Oscar" which had a huge stack of Italian meats on it and was enough for 2 meals. I strongly recommend checking their bread options as well. I upgraded to their foccacia and it was amazing. This sandwich could compete with the best I've ever had anywhere. If you're in this area don't second guess it for a minute. Stop into this place and check out what they have to offer. Great food in a nice environment with friendly people and good prices. Can't ask for more than that. 5 stars.

Upon entering, one is transported into the absolute neatest little shop of concoctions, whether it be sweets or sauces, jams or jellies, not to mention the deli section with cured meats, amongst other proprietary offerings. The bar and dining areas were a buzz with patrons, enjoying their entrees and beverages. Ordering to go is a fairly straightforward process. You simply walk to the rear of the restaurant and place your order. Although the orders are filled rather quickly one still has time to peruse all of the aforementioned goodies. Did I partake? With zero guilt yes I did, happily :) On this occasion, I opted for the Hefty Heffer and Idgie sands, along with a couple of salads. Between my partner and I, we fully agree that each sandwich stands alone QUITE WELL: The Hefty, with its caramelized onion-forward flavor complimenting the brisket {Excellent} and the Idgie with those perfectly tart fried-green tomatoes. {Perfection}! The salads and Mango Habañero spread were, candidly, gluttunous purchases even though we would dine on them the next day. We have yet to try the fruit spread, though it will be a delightful accent to the charcuterie trays, we are serving. At the end of the day, TBD never disappoints and we are glad to have found her :) BON APPÉTIT
