As an actor in the resident company during the summer, I had the amazing opportunity to live on the Priscilla Beach Theatre campus. I lived in the Farmhouse, which houses around nine people, a costume shop, costume storage, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a black box theatre. I felt like this was my home away from home during the summer; it kind of felt like my first year of college again when I lived in a dorm. You become really close with the people you live and work with - you form really special bonds. One of the really incredible things about being cast in A Chorus Line and A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum this summer were the directors I had the fortune of working with. Emily Maltby directed A Chorus Line and Ron Fassler directed Forum, and both of these directors helped me bring some of my best work out on the stage. They affirmed and encouraged their casts, and maintained an expectation of professionalism throughout the summer. If you're an actor looking for summer work, I couldn't recommend this company enough. You'll make friendships that last a lifetime, enjoy sunny days and starry nights at a beach that's a five minute walk away, and get paid to do what you love!

We've tried kids theater programs up and down the south shore, and it definitely one of the best in the area. I was warmly welcomed by Lisa when I walked in...always such a nice touch to be welcomed into a shop and sadly it happens far too infrequently these days. I don't think many shop owners realize how wonderful that personal touch is. Local Pottery is filled with a gorgeous and wide variety of pottery selections made by a number of different artisans. Everything was simply stunning. Plates, platters, bowls, dishes, creamers...you name it. As well, there is an assortment of handmade jewelry. There are a variety of price points so I think most anyone can find something lovely that they can afford. The pottery had so many gorgeous finishes and colors. It's stunning inside. I am sure I didn't even take all of it in yet. Lisa told me they change the merchandise frequently so there will regularly be something new to look at. I really hadn't gone in with the intention of buying anything but I found a very large tea mug that I thought would make a nice gift. By the time I got home, I decided I needed that gift myself! So much for my good intentions. However, I plan to return in the next couple of days because my cousin has a birthday coming up and in hindsight, I think she would love a pair of glass earrings I saw. Lisa told me they have a festive time in the store over the Christmas holiday and I can only imagine how fun shopping here for gifts will be.
